Highlights at a glance SURPASS hiT 7500 is a future-proof DWDM transport platformoptimized for building ultra-high capacity regional, long-haul (LH) and ultra-long-haul(ULH) networks. The platform transports 2.5, 10, and 40 Gbit/s per channel. Addi-tional investments in other platforms for different applications are not necessary.The system consists of several network elements (NE) including optical transportterminals (OTT), optical line repeaters (OLR), optical add/drop multiplexers (OADM)and the optical channel unit providing transponders and multiplexing transponders.It also offers optical protection cards.

Highly adaptableSURPASS hiT 7500 can be cus-tomized for all applications, thuspermitting optimum investment inDWDM technology. Transparentoptical networking with 100%OADM avoids the cost of electricalregeneration. The 100% OADM canbe configured remotely to redirectdata streams with minimal effortsimultaneously with the customer’sservice request. This highly auto-mated system using integratedOptical Performance Analysersenables easy and fast upgrading ofnew services, resulting in consider-able OPEX savings. Release up-grades of SURPASS hiT 7500 arecarried out by remote softwaredownload without affecting opera-tion. Transponder and regeneratorfunctionality for 10 Gbit/s as well as

service aggregation using a 10Gbit/s multiplexing transponder for2.5 Gbit/s are supported. The up-coming need for 40 Gbit/s servicesis already addressed by 40Gtransponders and multiplexingtransponders. All common protec-tion mechanisms are supported.

SURPASS hiT 7500 is fully inte-grated into TNMS, Nokia SiemensNetworks’ best-in-class networkmanagement system.

Wide-ranging supportSURPASS hiT 7500 supports allkinds of network architectures

(point-to-point, ring, mesh). Itadapts all types of services to theDWDM layer through use of trans-ponders, it multiplexes a high num-ber of wavelengths on one fiber,and optically amplifies the com-bined signal. Due to its high systemflexibility, the SURPASS hiT 7500platform is cost-optimized for re-gional links (300-800 km) andLH/ULH links (up to 3,000 km), andis well suited to the needs of carri-ers running networks with a widevariety of link lengths.

Additional featuresDue to the flexible 100% OADMbased on multi-wavelength blocker,there is no need for pre-planning ofboth express and add / drop wave-length. Furthermore the 100%OADM concept enables a futureextension to a transparent opticalnetworking node (photonic switch).Built-in enhanced optical monitoringcapability with OPA, based onpower measurements, supports fastpre-emphasis and link control, fullyautomatic operation control and fastchannel upgrade.The 10 Gbit/s transponder supportsSTM-64/OC-192 and 10GbEWAN/LAN in accordance with IEEE802.3ae, while the 10 Gbit/s multi-plexing transponder supports STM-16/OC-48 and aggregatedGbE/FC/STM-4.

The implementation of G.709 en-ables the network managementsystem to intelligently monitor andmanage multiple wavelengths withsingle wavelength granularity. End-to-end supervision and manage-ment is supported through-out theDWDM network.

Comprehensive management sup-port for fault localization, configura-tion management, performanceanalysis and automatic analysis ofoptical paths further reduce OPEX.
