Executive Message: New Opportunities – In 2008 I received an email about APICS and decided to attend a meeting to learn more about the organization and how it would help broaden my network. I learned that Supply Chain Management is an important role in all organizations and many employers’ value individual’s that have experience and certification in Supply Chain. The CPIM certification program which is offered by APICS is an excellent way for an individual to increase their marketability to employers and expand his/her knowledge base with Supply Chain Management. In 2009, I enrolled in the first of the five CPIM courses for certification – The Basics of CPIM and continued with the program until 2012 when I successfully passed my last CPIM test involving the SMR module – Strategic Management Resources. Along my journey toward certification, I continued attending APICS PDM meetings and joined the Central Jersey chapter as a Board Member. CPIM certification has opened new career opportunities, expanded my Supply Chain network and increased my value to employers. I recommend CPIM certification to all those pursuing a Supply Chain career, weather you are just starting out or have years of experience.
