FACTS ON HINDUMYTHOLOGY:-

WHY IS KRISHNA BLUE COLOURED?@ One of the theories is that because of his ASSOCIATION WITH WATER, he is depicted BLUE.

@ In HINDUISM, persons who have depth of character and the capacity to fight evil are depicted as BLUE SKINNED.

@ The theory of THE BLUE COLORING OF KRISHNA goes to the FACT that the CREATOR has given MAXIMUM of the BLUE to the NATURE ,i.e., THE SKY, THE OCEANS, THE RIVERS AND THE LAKES.

@ THE DEITY who has the QUALITY of BRAVERY, MANLINESS,DETREMINATION, the ability to DEAL WITH DIFFICULT SITUATIONS, of STABLE MIND and DEPTH OF CHARACTER is REPRESENTED AS BLUE.

WHY DO HINDU DEITIES HAVE SO MANY ARMS?

@ Image worship crept almost imperceptibly into INDIAN RELIGIONS and was not only FINALLY SANCTIONED in the RELIGIOUS SCRIPTURES but the images themselves, and the RITUALS for their worship were also DESCRIBED in GREATER DETAILS.

@ One of the results of this process was that SOME OF THE GODS WERE SHOWN AS HAVING SEVERAL QUALITIES.

@ Showing them with several ARMS when he made images of several GODS solved the visual problem that this CREATED FOR THE SCULPTOR OR THE ARTIST.

@ Each hand would hold some object which would symbolize the VARIOUS QUALITIES OF THAT PARTICULAR DEITY. Some of the hands would be empty but THE POSITION OF THE PALM OR THE FINGERS WOULD SIGNIFY THE CHARACTER OF THAT GOD.

@ For example, if the fingers are pointing towards the GROUND it means that the GOD is of CHARITABLE DISPOSITION whereas fingers pointing upwards, as in a BLESSING , SIGNIFY A PROTECTOR.

WHAT IS ATMAN(SOUL)?

@ It is ETERNAL and BEYOND PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION. It is a TRUE SELF; DWELLS WITHIN BUT ALSO HAS NO PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS.

@ ATMAN is the BIRTHLESS, DEATHLESS REALITY that is at once the INNERMOST BEING OF EACH PERSON AND THE INNMOST BEING OF ALL THAT, WHICH EXISTS.

@ ATMAN, more fully, IS THAT WHICH PREVADES ALL.

@ It is the SUBJECT and which KNOWS EXPERIENCES and ILLUMINATES the SUBJECT , and which REMAINS ALWAYS THE SAME.

WHAT DOES NAMASKAR MEAN?

@ MOST POPULAR FORM OF GREETING IN INDIA.

@A GENERAL SALUTATION, and is used as a WELCOME and also as a FAREWELL.

@ It also means “I BOW TO THEE”.

@Together the hands symbolize THE ONE MIND; the RIGHT HAND representing THE HOLY or THE HIGHER NATURE, the LEFT HAND representing WORLDLY or THE LOWER NATURE.

WHAT IS NIRVANA?

@ NIRVANA is the UNION with the SUPREME(BRAHMA), through MOKSHA,i.e, release form the cycle of birth and death and the PAIN,SORROW and SUFFERING of the HUMAN CONDITION.

@ NIRVANA is the IMMEDIATE EXPERIENCE of the EGO-LESS SELF with the BLISSFUL BRAHMA.

@ THE BHAGWAD GITA has once of the clearest EXPOSITIONS of NIRVANA, calling it BRAHMA-NIRVANA,i.e, UNION WITH BRAHMA, or EXTINCTION (of the ego) in HIM.

@ THE GITA’S method is by the practice of YOGA (JOY, PEACE, VISION ALL TURNING INWARD), through which one can ‘COME TO BRAHMA AND KNOW NIRVANA’.

@ THE JAINS have somewhat similar IDEAS EXPRESSED in their OWN TERMS.
