RULE OF LIFE

Our Real Gift

We tend to forget that our real gift is not so

much what we can do, but who we are. The

real question is not “What can we offer each

other?” but “Who can we be for each

other?” No doubt, it is wonderful when we can

repair something for a neighbor, give helpful

advice to a friend, offer wise counsel to a

colleague, bring healing to a patient or

announce good news to a parishioner, but

there is a greater gift than all of this. It is the gift

of our own life that shines through all we do. As

I grow older, I discover more and more that the

greatest gift I have to offer is my own joy of

living, my own inner peace, my own silence

and solitude, my own sense of well-being.

April Guides Appointments

• Focus is on training

• First meeting – returning guide leads

• Second meeting – new guide leads

• Be sure to leave adequate time for

debriefing.

• Still more training appointments

available!

Post-April Guides Appts

• Busy season.

• You will have your regular partner.

• Guideline is at least 2 appointments

per month.

• Before April 25, please post

appointments for as far out as possible

(preferably through August).

Partner Assignments

• Please reply by tomorrow evening.

• Sometimes I may ask you to partner with me

or another guide to help accommodate a

member’s schedule – please be flexible!

• I encourage you to have coffee together if you

don’t know each other very well! I pray that

some great fellowship will happen with your

partner.

• Theme for this Year: Practicing the

Presence of God

Resource #1: Daily Examen

• Give Thanks. Give thanks to God for

his gifts given that day. Take time to

savor the grace of God.

• Find God. Review your day, both the

good and the bad. Where do you see

God?

• Follow God. What invitation do you

sense from God for tomorrow?

Resource #2: Present Perfect

• Most monthly meetings

will be based on a

chapter from this book.

• In between meetings,

try one of the assigned

practices.

• For next time: Read

Intro, Chapter 1, do one

practice
