4-H Enrollment - Last Day to Enroll is July 1st!!!

There is still time to enroll in 4-H for the 2019-2020 year! Youth can still enroll in White County 4-H using 4HOnline at

https://in.4honline.com. The last day to enroll in White County 4-H, and still be eligible to exhibit at the 2020 White

County 4-H Fair, is July 1st. Anyone who needs assistance or does not have access to 4HOnline should contact the

White County Extension Office at (765) 357-8029..

Mini 4-H Mini 4-H is for youth in Kindergarten – 2

nd grade and is a great opportunity for youth who are too young to join 4-H to

see what the 4-H program is all about. In White County, Mini 4-H members join and participate in a Township 4-H Club, but also will have the chance to participate in some fun Mini 4-H workshops throughout the year. Mini 4-H mem-bers can also choose to exhibit projects at the White County 4-H Fair. Information on Mini workshops will be coming, and they will be held virtually in 2020. Mini 4-H project options include: Animal Poster, Cake Decorating, Collections, Crafts, Flowers, Foods, Forestry, Mod-els, Nature, and Sewing. Mini 4-H members can also participate in Mini 4-H Animal Showmanship classes for Sheep, Goats, Dairy, Beef, Poultry, Rabbits, Swine, and Horses during the Fair.

Enroll in White County Mini 4-H online at https://in.4honline.com

YQCA and Ethics Modules Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is a program is designed to educate producers (exhibitors) on the care of their ani-mals in order to provide a safe product for consumers. This training is for every 4-Her in grades 3 through 12 who is exhibiting beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits, or poultry at the White County Fair and/or Indiana State Fair. If you are exhibiting at the Indiana State Fair in a 4-H livestock show, you MUST take YQCA. At this time, online YQCA is the only option available. If you are exhibiting at the 2020 White County 4-H Fair ONLY, you can choose one of the two options below: Take YQCA online. Complete the 4 online animal ethics modules (for no charge) at https://extension.purdue.edu/4h/Pages/Online-Animal-Ethics-

Program.aspx ***Youth must complete the Qualtrics survey to document their completion. https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2aAOaEAK0BEGoRv Please remember that the 4-H program is an educational program, so regardless of the show and fair status this summer, youth are still learning important information about their role in the food system and the importance of quality care of animals.

FairEntry Program

We will again be using the FairEntry program this year to register projects for the Fair. All projects (animal

and building projects) will be registered prior to the Fair through this online program. This program pairs

with the 4HOnline program and is being implemented throughout Indiana. The FairEntry program will be

open for use on June 1st. Instructions for completing the FairEntry process can be found in this newsletter

and will be posted on our website, extension.purdue.edu/white.

All Live Animal (Beef, Dairy, Goats, Horse & Pony, Llama, Sheep, Swine, Poultry, Rabbit, Cats, Dogs, and Small Animals)

Fair entries will be due in Fair Entry by July 6th.

All Exhibit Hall (Building) Projects and Events (includes Tractor Driving, Mini 4-H Projects and Mini Lead Classes)

Fair entries are also due in FairEntry by July 6th

.

Please note: The FairEntry program does not change the deadlines and requirements for Record

Sheets, Manuals, and Educational Activities. These items will still be turned into the Extension

Office. Please refer to the White County 4-H Handbook for specific details about the requirements for each

project.

Volunteer Information

Anyone who wishes to work with the White County 4-H program must

be an approved 4-H Volunteer. All new volunteers will need to contact

the White County Extension Office for information on how to complete

the volunteer approval process.

All returning 4-H volunteers will need to re-enroll annually using

4HOnline. Volunteers should log into 4HOnline using the login email

and password that was used when enrolled in 4HOnline last year. If you have forgotten your email

or password or enrolled using a paper form last year, please contact the Extension Office.

REMINDER: All volunteers are required to complete an online Youth Safety and Reporting Child

Abuse training course called Operating Procedures for Programs Involving Minors. The training can

either be completed in 4HOnline or by coming into the Extension Office, and takes about 20 minutes

to complete.

Please be sure to enroll as a 4-H Volunteer before you begin working with 4-H youth. This is

for the safety of the youth and volunteers alike, and is required. Please contact the White

County Extension Office at (765) 357-8029 with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for volunteering with the White County 4-H Program. Without all of you, our program

would not be as successful as it is!

possible and contact the Extension Office with any questions or concerns.

Animals may be shared between members of the same family (as long as they are enrolled under

the same 4HOnline family profile). These animals must be entered under at least one member.

Attention 4-H Swine Exhibitors

You must enter this number along with the ear notch for each hog identified in 4hOnline.These tags can be purchased at the Extension Office for $3 per tag. You must provide your Premise ID at time of purchase.

A DNA Sample is required for all State Fair hogs. Collection envelopes need to be picked up at the Extension Office and returned to the Office by July 1st.

If you plan to put boards at the bottom of your swine pen at the County Fair, they can not be taller than 12 inches.

The Mini 4-H Swine Lead class will be open to all White County Mini 4-H members.

4-H Sheep & Goat Weigh-In

Weigh-ins have been cancelled in 2020.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the White County 4-H program and the White County Agricultural Association so far in 2020! Thank you to everyone who has made a donation—your donations go a long way in helping run the 4-H program and the White County 4-H Fair. We also want to thank everyone who has donated their time and hard work on many different projects so far this year. Our program could not be nearly as successful without all of you! If you are interested in making a donation to the White County 4-H program or to the Fair, please contact the Extension Office.

Thank you all again for everything you do to make our program great!

There have been many questions regarding the 2020 White County Fair. At this time, we are continuing to make plans for the fair, but things may look a little different. The most important thing to keep in mind is that the fair is

a celebration of our youth and the hard work they’ve done over the past year. Our goal is to recognize our White County 4-H youth in whatever way

we can safely do so!
