Highlights From the Board Room Board Meeting | Tuesday, November 28, 2017 Presentations Indigenous Education Superintendent of Learning Dave Golden provided an overview of Indigenous Education initiatives taking place this school year in TLDSB. Teaching and learning take place as part of the development of a contract, planning a wampum geometric pattern, and the actual creation of the wampum. Students learn to understand how a wampum was used as a neumonic device by Indigenous peoples. Trustees saw writing and audio samples of student stories sharing the symbols and colours that they chose, as well as the emotions students were trying to evoke in their individual wampum creations. The project has been extremely successful and there are plans for repetition in classrooms across the district. Administrative Reports 2015-2016 Financial Statements Superintendent of Business Services Kaye introduced Auditor Jason Becker from BDO and Senior Manager of Financial Services Kevin Burge who were instrumental in producing the 2015-2016 financial
