Name of IHE: Frostburg State University TPIP 2017 Performance Assessment Data
Intern Performance Data
Please report intern performance data for 2016-2017, the recently graduated program completers, if possible. Since IHEs had no previous notice that this data collection could be for the current cohort, data managers may use data for intern cohort 2015-2016, instead. MSDE is attempting to collect data in a more coherent, aligned manner, but did not provide enough advanced notice to require the alignment for the current collection.
Intern Performance Data are no longer collected by PDS, but rather by program or secondary/PreK-12 content areas. Scores should be aggregated across that program. For example, if edTPA, PPAT, or a similar programmatic assessment is being used, please aggregate the scores in a logical manner (by criteria or domain, etc.), explaining how the institution uses the resulting data for program improvement, and submit. If the institution uses a final portfolio assessment or other culminating performance-based assessment, aggregate the scores across the program as indicated above and submit. If the assessment has several domains, add lines by hitting the Tab button to present the aggregate scores by domain or criteria. Again, do not link intern performance data to specific PDS or other internship placements. Please keep explanations as concise as possible using this electronic document.
The deadline for the return of this document, Intern Performance Data, is June 2, 2017. Do not neglect to include the name of the IHE in the space indicated. Return by email to Michelle Dunkle at [email protected]. No paper copies will be accepted.
Describe the assignment. (EdTPA, Portfolio, or other culminating experience.)
Frostburg State University piloted edTPA with our first group (5) of candidates in the Fall 2016 semester. These 5 candidates completed 5 different content area edTPAs. Data is provided in this report. We had 10 candidates participate in the spring semester, adding 3 new content areas. National scores are not back for these submissions, therefore, this data is not provided in this report.
FSU’s COE teacher preparation programs implemented common assessments across all programs during the Spring 2016 semester. This report contains the common Unit Rubic and Performance Rating assessing all Intern (Practicum) II’s. Data is included from the Spring 2016 and Fall 2016 semesters.
Please supply the scoring rubric below for the assignment in #1.

Please describe how your institution uses the data from #3 to facilitate ongoing program improvement We have established a time line for reviewing Program Data and Common Unit Data. The common unit data shared in this report is first reviewed by a Leadership Committee comprised of program coordinators of each of the initial certification programs. The committee looks at how we are meeting our common learning outcomes, InTASC standards. All rubrics are tagged to InTASC standards and reports are run by standards. A smaller group (EPP Committee) comprised of 3 oversight coordinators (P-9, Sec/P-12, Advanced) put together the data to see what it looks like across all programs. Strengths, weaknesses, and action items are identified. This information is shared with our P-20 Council and then with our COE Assessment Committee which includes our Institutional folks. (We have data sharing documentation we can provide if needed.) We are currently focusing on a systematic (and simpler) way to make data sharing and closing the loop most effective.
