There has never been a more exciting time to enter or progress into Higher Education at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College!

We place great emphasis on ensuring all of our students enjoy a high quality learning experience which will equip them with the practical skills, academic standards, employability skills and work experience needed to progress into the career of their choice. We constantly monitor and respond to changing trends in the sector and job markets, continuing to develop a new and innovative curriculum.

There are several new full-time programmes under development for september 2014, including higher national Diplomas in Computing, Journalism, Game Design and Business. The College can also now offer full BA (hons) Degrees across a range of Creative Arts specialisms in collaboration with a local university.

We deliver over 30 Higher Education and Professional Courses at the College and work with leading universities to provide an extensive offer covering a variety of sectors and aiding progression into a broad range of industries.

our close links with Coventry university, Birmingham City university,De Montfort university and the university of Warwick mean we are able to design and deliver courses that link together and build on your existing qualifications. This is supported by agreements with other partner universities to offer guaranteed interviews at nottingham Trent university and Leicester university.

There are new developments in our Creative Arts provision, in which we work closely with Coventry university to offer full BA (hons) Degrees in Graphic Design, Photography and Media (Moving image) as of october 2013.

iF You’rE AGED24 or oVEr 24+ Advanced Learning Loans may be able to help you achieve your goals without worrying about the cost.

These loans go towards the tuition fees for courses at Level 3 or above and are low-interest, not based on income and there are no upfront costs.

Better yet, you only need to pay back your 24+ Advanced Learning Loan when you have finished your course and you’re earning more than £21,000 a year.

it is important to note that if you take out a loan for an Access to higher Education course and go on to complete a degree, you will not need to repay your loan.

if you are considering studying a higher Education course at College, you may want to consider the different ways you can finance your course.

TuiTion FEEsFull-time CoursesFees will be charged at £5,495 per year. Fees have not increased from 2013/14.

studying at College is a more cost-effective way to study, with university fees ranging from £6,000 to £9,000 per year. Part-time CoursesFees will be stated upon application.

Full-time and part-time students can apply for a tuition fee loan which covers the fees that are charged each year of your course.

These loan payments are paid directly to the College.

if you’re struggling with an assignment or worrying about an exam, we can help with essay planning and exam techniques as well as providing specialised equipment if necessary.

Specialist Assessment Services

We can carry out assessments to enable us to provide you with the most appropriate level of support for your learning.

Physical Support

All reasonable adjustments will be made to ensure that disabled students are not substantially disadvantaged. To help us do this we have a range of specialist equipment including wheelchairs, screens/keyboards and a loop hearing system.

Tutoring

When you start your course, you will be assigned your own personal tutor. You will meet with them on a one-to-one basis to set targets for your learning and to check your progress. Your personal tutor will also work with you to help you deal with any problems and issues that may arise during your studies.

Help can be provided with education, employment and training needs as well as personal and social issues. Every effort is made to help those students that need it the most and the service is strictly confidential.

You can make an appointment or just drop in whenever it suits you for a guidance interview. When you are ready to apply for a full-time course, your application will be dealt with by our friendly Customer service Team who will ensure it receives prompt and expert attention.

The Access to Higher Education course offer is ideal for those who want to pursue a change in career or develop their knowledge and understanding in a particular area.

The qualification can prepare students without any formal qualifications for study at university. Applicants are assessed on relevant work and life experience and there is no upper age limit.

The programmes on offer at the College are backed by a Quality Assurance Agency for higher Education (QAA) recognised certificate and provide a great platform for progression onto degree level study.

This programme is targeted at middle to senior level managers who operate at a strategic level within an organisation. To enrol onto this course you must hold a CMI Diploma in Management and Leadership or an equivalent qualification, or have appropriate managerial experience at this level. Successful candidates may progress onto higher level programmes and an informal arrangement is in place with Coventry University and DeMontfort University for candidates to progress onto the Masters in Management Programme.

The Construction course offering at the College provides students with the knowledge and understanding for either a supervisory or management role in the construction industry.

For those who are looking to progress their floristry career at a management level, the College’s course offering allows candidates to develop their floristry and business skills.

it is ideal for those with experience of the retail environment as well as industry contacts, as these are integral components to enable you to succeed.

Those studying Floristry at the College have the opportunity to apply all that they have learnt in a practical retail environment. Budding Florists was launched in september 2012 and is staffed and managed by a group of more than 50 students.

The Teacher Training courses we offer at the College are in conjunction with The University of Warwick.

To achieve qualified teacher status (QTLs) from the institute for Learning (iFL), an initial teacher training course (iTT) will need to be completed.

As well as offering this initial assessment, the College also delivers material designed for those new to a teaching role or currently in a full teaching role in Post Compulsory Education.
