A p r i l , 1967 Mr. President The Astronomical Observatory
Dear S i r , I thank you frcm my heart f o r your devoted research f o r t r u t h i n the universe. I am an
amateur inquire making astronomical observations i n Japan. I found out, so I "believe, a new phenomenon i n the natural world, I am going to inform you adout the new phenomenon and wish to "have i t ascertained by the experts as you observing at each astronomical observatory i n the world, (as I have no solvency f o r the expense to send to a l l astronomical observatory i n the world, I can send one.)

i n tne^uneeT"df t h e s i x t h 6i' July* I n Wbb ( t i l l Uleil MclBulMer 1 Mm m a oormuutfu. i r u u — the beginning of May), obaorving the sky, I found out a shadow of the e a r t h i n t h e a i r f o rward northwest l i k e a phenomenon of t w i l i g h t .
The shadow g r a d u a l l y moved t o the west sky as drawing. The sun was s h i n i n g f a i n t l y i n D aa the p i c t u r e .
In the upper p a r t of the middle of rays of the sun, l i g h t , i n d i g o , angles and p r e t t y l a r g e % t a r % appeared many numbers c l e a r l y . We can f i n d the theory concerning the s u n l i g h t appearing i n the shadow of the e a r t h . But we cannot f i n d the theory of being stars which do not shine i n the s u n l i f h t . I wonder
why the r e a l phenomenon i s not on the record. Though i n v e s t i g a t i n g many reference books, I have never found the record about i t .
I b l i e v e t h a t t h i s phenomenon i s c e r t i f i c a t e of the t r u t h i n the universe t h a t never l i e s . Without delay I had informed the phenomenon t o an astronomical observatory and an u n i v e r s i t y i n our country, but I have not the answer y e t . I consider t h a t we need the f o l l o w i n g c o n d i t i o n s t o observe the phenomenon.
••The phenomenon may appear one time every f i f t y or s i x t y years a t the l a t i t u d e more than 32 degrees 3 minutes north.
*The heat continues more than f i f t y days. *On t w i l i g h t when a i r dry. *There i s no cloud and the l i g h t we can d i s t i n g u i s h from one's face t o other's f a c e
a t the f r o n t about 100 meters. When weak s u n l i g h t streams and the shadow of the earth are made, we can seethe s t a r e i n
the l i g h t beam w i t h great care. But I consider t h a t about 32 degrees and 2 minutes from the Equator we a n o f t e n observe the phenomenon, so I wish t o have researchers i n t h i s d i r e c t i o n observed w i t h great a t t e n t i o n . Please inform the content about the phenomenon t o the other astronomers. I pray that the phenomenon w i l l be a s c e r t a i n a t anywhere i n the w o r l d . We must haste research f o r and di s c o v e r i n g of t r u t h i n the universe f o r a l l human beings
happiness and peace. I beg your k i n d l y co-opration to me. Please send the documents i n c l o s i n g i n t h i s i n y e l o -

Dear s i r , I am w r i t i n g t o you on behalf of a s o c i e t y at Cambridge U n i v e r s i t y c a l l e d S u r v i v a l . S u r v i v a l i s a Friends of the Earth type s o c i e t y f o r students at tbe u n i v e r s i t y and aims to promote awareness of a l t e r n a t i v e l i f e s t y l e s and te c h nology. To t h i s end we hold informal lunch/speaker meetings every Wednesday, where a f t e r a short lunch, a guest_speaker t a l k s f o r about h a l f an hour and then answers questions. Recently I read i n the papers that the F l a t Earth S o c i e t y has been r e v i t a l i s e d and that your societ y i s g e n e r a l l y a n t i s c i e n t i f i c dogma. I think that s c i e n t i f i c dogma might make an i n t e r e s t i n g t o p i c f o r one of our meetings and I wonder i f you would be w i l l i n g t o speak t o us on that or some rel a t e d subject on 20th January. Unfortunately our finances are low so we cannot pay you a fee, but we w i l l reimburse your t r a v e l l i n g expenses. I would be very g r a t e f u l i f you could l e t me know of your d e c i s i o n as soon as possible.

Dear
?S5_El;AT_EARTH_SpCIETY
I thank you for your recent enquiry concerning the Plat Earth Society. This Polytechnic has acquired most of the papers of this organization, the president of which recently died. As far as i s known, i t i s thought that the organization i s moribund, although there may be individuals who subscribe to i t s beliefs. This Polytechnic holds the papers as archival material, and they may be examined by appointment.
It i s understood that there are s t i l l active organizations propagating the Flat Earth theory. The chief of these appears to be:-
The International Plat Earth Research Society of America Box 2533, * Lancaster, California 93534, U.S.A. It i s suggested that i f you wish to pursue your
enquiry further you should contact i t s President — Charles Johnson - at t h i s address*
