1. Introduction

The hermesTRX is a plug-and-play cost effective real time GPS fleet management system using

Google™ Earth as its mapping platform. It is configurable through a built-in web server to track

and manage vehicles, persons, assets or even pets by GPS enabled Motorola Radios. In addition

to the location service, a text messaging facility and the processing of telemetry is provided.

The maximum number of vehicles that are trackable at the same time depends on the version of

hermesTRX. Please see our price list for further details.

The illustration below shows the setup of the hermesTRX system with MOTOTRBO™. Note that

multiple users can connect to hermesTRX at the same time (Networking Solution).

2. Getting Started with Motorola MOTOTRBO™ radio series

This chapter provides a brief overview on how to set up a system, based upon the block

diagram with MotoTRBO™ Radios shown below:

administrative privileges will be required. If you are not sure what to do, please contact

your system administrator.

2.1. Prerequisites

• The latest version of Google™ Earth, Google™ Earth Plus, Google™ Earth Pro or Google™ Earth

Enterprise (version 4 recommended) installed on any PC in your network.

Please note that as a minimum Google™ Earth Pro is needed if the system is intended for

commercial use!

• An internet connection (preferably broadband e.g. DSL or WiMAX)

• An Ethernet cross cable (RJ45) to configure the hermesTRX (or a hub/switch with 2 patch

cables)

OR

• An Ethernet patch cable (RJ45) to integrate the hermesTRX into your existing network

• A PC running the Motorola MOTOTRBO™ MCCD driver or at least the USB driver for the

MOTOTRBO™ Series.

• MOTOTRBO™ radio which will act as the base station of the system. If you’re planning to use

the MOTOROLA Revert Channel Feature, two base radios are required as a minimum. Chapter

2.2.2 describes how to configure the base and the subscriber radios to use the Revert Channel

Feature.

• We assume that the local network adapter on the PC has the IP address 192.168.178.60 (see

Illustration 2)

2.2. Setup of the MOTOTRBO™ Radios with CPS

Depending on the size of your fleet (quantity of subscribers) and the estimated load on the main

channel you should select either of the two base station configurations available. Please see

appendix B and the MOTOTRBO™ System Planner for further details.

2.2.1. Setup without Revert Channel Feature

(see Appendix C for detailed instructions)

This chapter will explain how to configure the base station with a single base radio.

Configure base radio:

1. Connect the radio, which is intended for use as a base station radio to the PC using the USB

programming cable provided by Motorola and turn the radio unit on.

2. Start Motorola CPS software for MOTOTRBO™ and read the configuration of the radio. Change

view to expert.

3. Go to General Settings and set the Radio ID to 1.

4. Go to Network and set the Radio IP address of the base station radio to 192.168.10.1.

The IP address of the PC connected is shown in the “Accessory IP” field and will be +1 for

the last octet of the radio address (in this example 192.168.10.2).

Please note that if the IP address of the base radio is set within the same range as your

LAN IP addressing the system will not function!

a) Set the CAI Network (Common Air Interface) to 10.

Please note that all radios must be within the same CAI network. Radios with a

different CAI network configured cannot be processed by the hermesTRX.

b) Set the ARS Radio ID to 1 according to your base radio ID. The ‘Online’ and ‘Offline’

notification will be now forwarded to this ID.

c) Enable Forward to PC to assure all text messages are forwarded to the PC.

5. Go to Channels and activate ARS (Automatic Registration Service) for all digital radio

channels you are going to use with the system.

Please note that “GPS Location” and “Automatic Registration Service” are supported in

digital mode only. This setting is mandatory; otherwise the system will not work!

6. Write the configuration back to the radio and save it for future reference.

Configure subscriber radio:

Repeat these steps for all other subscribers

1. Connect a radio that is intended for use as a subscriber to the PC with the USB programming

cable provided by Motorola and turn the unit on

Do not connect more than one MOTOTRBO™ radio at the same time.

2. Start Motorola CPS software for MOTOTRBO™ and read the configuration of the radio.

3. Go to General Settings and set the Radio ID for this example to 30.

4. Activate GPS.

5. Go to Network and leave the default Radio IP address for the subscriber.

6. Set the CAI Network to 10. According to this example the CAI network IP address, will be

10.0.0.30.

Please note that all radios must be within the same CAI network. Radios with a different

CAI network configured cannot be processed by the hermesTRX!

7. Set the ARS Radio ID to 1 according to the ID of your base radio. This radio will send its ‘Online’

and ‘Offline’ notifications to the base radio.

All radios must be configured to send their registration message to the base radio ID. This

setting is mandatory! Otherwise your subscribers will not be processed by hermesTRX.

8. Go to Channels and activate ARS (Automatic Registration Service) for your digital radio

channel.

Please note that “GPS Location Reports” and “Automatic Registration Service” are

supported in digital mode only. This setting is mandatory; otherwise the subscriber will

NOT be recognized by the hermesTRX!

9. Write the configuration back to the subscriber radio and save it for future reference.

2.2.2. Setup with Revert Channel Feature (2 Base Radios)

The GPS Revert Channel feature provides additional capacity required in larger fleets (or smaller

fleets requiring fast updates) by transmitting all GPS location information on a second channel. T

This requires a second base radio connected to the base PC.

This chapter explains how to configure the base station radios and how the subscriber radios need

to be configured to use the GPS revert channel.

Radio 1 will be used for the main channel (channel 1) and radio 2 exclusively for the GPS position

updates (channel 2).

Install Motorola’s MOTOTRBO™ Multi Channel Device Driver (MCDD):

Obtain the latest MCDD Driver from Motorola or hermes microcom.

1. Double click the MOTOTRBO_Multi_Channel_Device_Driver_Setup.exe

2. Select the language for this installation and click OK.

3. Click next and accept the licence agreement also by clicking next.

4. Select the designation folder and click next.

5. Enter the MOTOTRBO™ network ID configuration. This will add a static route to the base PC.

In our example use following values and press next to continue

Subscriber Network ID (CAI) = 10

Subscriber Network Mask = 255.0.0.0

Multicast Network ID = 225

Multicast Network Mask = 255.0.0.0

6. The installation wizard is now ready. Click Install to start the installation.

7. After successful installation press Finish to close the window.

Configure base radio 1 (Main Channel / Channel 1):

1. Connect the radio 1 which is intended for use as a base station radio to the PC with the USB

programming cable provided by Motorola and turn it on.

To configure the radio please ensure that only one MOTORBO™ radio is connected to the

PC at the same time.

2. Start Motorola CPS software for MOTOTRBO™ and read the configuration of the radio. Change

view to expert.

3. Go to General Settings and set the Radio ID to 1.

4. Go to Network and set the Radio IP address of the base station radio to 192.168.10.1.

The IP address of the PC connected is shown in the “Accessory IP” field and will be +1 for

the last octet of the radio address. In this example 192.168.10.2

Please note that if the IP address of the base radio is set within the same range as your

1. Connect base radio 2 with the USB cable to the PC and turn it on.

To configure the radio please ensure that only one MOTORBO™ radio is connected to the

PC at the same time.

2. Read the configuration of the radio with the CPS software.

3. Go to General Settings and set the Radio ID to 1.

Please not that both radios (1 and 2) must have the same Radio ID.

4. Go to Network and set the Radio IP address of the base station radio to 192.168.10.3.

The IP address of the PC connected is shown in the “Accessory IP” field and will be +1 for

the last octet of the radio address. In this example 192.168.10.4

Please note that the Radio IP address of the second radio may NOT be the same IP

address as base radio 1!

a) Set the CAI Network (Common Air Interface) to 10.

Please note that all radios must be within the same CAI network. Radios configured

with a different CAI network cannot be processed by the hermesTRX.

b) Set the ARS Radio ID to 1 according to your base radio ID.

5. Go to Channels and select the channel you would like to use exclusively for the GPS updates.

Make sure ARS (Automatic Registration Service) is deactivated for this channel. Configure

different RX and TX frequencies.

Please note that the second base radio must be configured with different RX and TX

frequencies!

6. Write the configuration back to the radio and save it for future reference.

Configure subscriber radio with GPS Revert Channel:

Repeat these steps for all other subscribers

1. Connect a radio that is intended for use as a subscriber to the PC with the USB programming

cable and turn it on.

To configure the radio please ensure that only one MOTORBO™ radio is connected to the

PC at the same time.

2. Read the configuration of the radio with the CPS software.

3. Go to General Settings and set the Radio ID for this example to 30.

4. Activate GPS.

5. Go to Network and leave the default Radio IP address for the subscriber.

6. Set the CAI Network to 10. According to this example the CAI network IP address, will be

10.0.0.30.

Please note that all radios must be within the same CAI network. Radios with a different

CAI network configured cannot be processed by the hermesTRX!

7. Set the ARS Radio ID to 1 according to the ID of your base radio. This subscriber will send its

‘Online’ and ‘Offline’ notifications to the base radio.

8. Go to Channels and select the channel you would like to use for voice and text messages

(channel 1). Activate ARS (Automatic Registration Service) and configure the same RX and TX

frequencies as done before for base radio 1.

Please note that “GPS Location Reports” and “Automatic Registration Service” are

supported in digital mode only. This setting is mandatory; otherwise the subscriber will

NOT be recognized by the hermesTRX!

9. If necessary, add a new digital channel or select a different existing channel which will be

used as the GPS revert channel (channel 2). Make sure ARS is deactivated for this channel.

Configure the RX and TX frequencies to match those you have configured before for base

radio 2 and set GPS Revert to selected.

10. Return to the configuration page of your main channel (channel 1) and select channel 2 to be

your GPS Revert.

11. Write the configuration back to the subscriber radio and save it for future reference.

2.3. Install the hermesTRX proxy

This step guides you through the installation process of the hermesTRX proxy service application.

Obtain the latest version of the hermesTRX proxy before you start with the installation.

1. Double click on the setup.exe to start the installation wizard and click next.

2. Choose where the program files should be saved and decide if the hermesTRX proxy service is

available to all users with access to this PC (all users) or limited to the one user installing the

hermesTRX proxy (Just me).

3. Click next and start the installation.

4. Click close to exit.

The hermesTRX proxy application is installed as a part of the operation system (Windows

Service) and will be started automatically on every boot of the base PC.

The hermesTRX proxy service application is now installed and ready to connect with the hermesTRX

in your network. You may now continue with the configuration of hermesTRX.

2.4. Firewall Settings

By default the Windows Firewall blocks most incoming traffic. In order to allow the hermesTRX to

communicate with the PC you need to adjust the Windows Firewall.

Go to the Control Panel and open the Windows Firewall configuration window. Select the

Exceptions tab and click on Add Program.

Click on Browse and locate the hermesTRX_proxy.exe which is located in your system’s program

folder C:\Program Files\hermes microcom\hermesTRX Proxy. Click OK to save the settings.

2.5. Add a static route to a MOTOTRBO™ network (1 Base Radio)

You can skip this chapter if you are using the GPS Revert Channel feature (MOTOTRBO™ Multi

Channel Device Driver installed).

Set up a route to the Motorola CAI Network by adding a static route with the MOTOTRBO™ radio

as gateway. The setup for this route depends on the MOTOTRBO™ CAI Network settings you’ve

made at your base and subscriber radios. In our example the CAI Network is set to ‘10’. Therefore

we have to add a route for 10.0.0.0

1. Double click on the add_mototrbo_route.bat to start the configuration.

2. Enter 2 to add a static route to the base PC. You will be asked for the CAI network setting of

your fleet and the local IP address of the MOTOTRBO™ base radio. Enter following values for

this example:

CAI Network (10-127) = 10

Local MOTOTRBO™ IP address = 192.168.10.1

3. After the successful installation an overview of all configured routes on the base PC will be

shown in the persistent routes section at the end. Press any key to get back to the route main

menu. Press q to quit the batch file.

2.6. Prepare the hermesTRX

The hermesTRX is shipped with default factory settings. Standard IP address and subnet mask are

as follows:

IP 192.168.1.100 - Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

If your network segments differ from the ones stated above, you will need to adapt the network

settings of the hermesTRX for a seamless integration into your existing network. In this example (see

Illustration 2), we will assume your network is a set of /24 addresses which differs from the default

address in the third segment, e.g. 192.168.178.0 instead of 192.168.1.0.

In this example we will also assume that the PC where the base is connected has the IP

192.168.178.60 and the hermesTRX needs to be configured with the IP address 192.168.178.61.

Follow steps 1 – 14 and configure the hermesTRX accordingly. If you are unsure about what you

have to do, please contact your system administrator.

1. Open the properties for the TCP/IP protocol of your local area network interface on this PC

and take note of the currently configured IP settings. In our example we assume the base PC

has the IP address 192.168.178.60 configured (see Illustration 2).

2. Configure your PC to match the default network address range of the hermesTRX (192.168.1.0):

Set the IP address to 192.168.1.2 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. If you have gateways

or name servers in the list, then leave them as they are. Click OK to save the settings.

3. Disconnect your PC from your local network. Connect it to the hermesTRX using a separate

crossover network cable (see price list for further details). Power up the hermesTRX by plugging

in the power cord. Alternatively, connect the hermesTRX to a hub/switch using a patch

network cable (see price list for further details) and leave your PC’s network cabling as it is.

Then power up the hermesTRX.

4. Open your preferred browser; enter the default IP 192.168.1.100 of the hermesTRX in your

address bar and hit enter.

5. The following start page – (depending on the browser being used, the output may vary

slightly) - will appear:

6. Click on Settings to access the Network configuration page. You will be prompted to enter a

username and a password to proceed.

Factory default: user: admin- password: 123456

Since version 3.10 the hermesTRX has two separate user accounts, one for the user and

one for the administrator. The default user name for the MOTOTRBO™ hermesTRX system is

“mototrbo” and the default administration user name is “admin”. The default passwords

are in both cases “123456”. See chapter 4.5.8 for more details.

7. Set the IP Address and Subnet to meet your local area network configuration. For our example

(see I llustration 2), enter the IP address 192.168.178.61, and leave the subnet mask to

255.255.255.0

8. Enter the IP Address of the PC to which the base station is connected, in this example

192.168.178.60 as the MOTOTRBO™ Gateway.

9. To synchronize with a timeserver from the Internet enter the IP address of your gateway into

Internet Gateway. In most cases this would be the IP address of your router, usually

192.168.178.1.

10. Click on Save to save the settings. The next page reminds you that a restart of the hermesTRX is

necessary to apply all changes. Return to the main page in order to continue with the

preparation of the hermesTRX in the next step.

11. Go to Settings - Time & Date to adjust the current time zone for your system. Click save to write

the configuration back. Alternatively you can configure the date and time manually in case

the hermesTRX cannot access a timeserver from the Internet.

12. The hermesTRX is now prepared and can be integrated into your network. Turn off the

hermesTRX by powering off the device, connect it to a hub or switch with a standard patch

cable and plug the power cord back in.

13. Revert the IP address of your PC, in our example to 192.168.178.60 and reconnect the network

cable of your local network. You can now access the hermesTRX with the IP address

192.168.178.61 via your browser.

2.7. Configure the hermesTRX

The next step will guide you through the configuration of one subscriber radio and how to start the

Google™ Earth application.

14. Enter the IP address (192.168.178.61) configured earlier of the hermesTRX into the address bar

of your browser.

15. Go to the Settings section, authenticate and click on Subscribers.

16. Enter the Radio ID of your base radio into the first row (named Base), in this example 1.

17. Now enter the radio ID of your subscriber, in this example 30, into the Radio ID field 1 to track

the radio with ID 30 (see 2.2). Assign an appropriate and unique name for the subscriber and

change the icon if you wish. Click on Save to write the configuration into non-volatile memory.

18. Before you start Google™ Earth you might wish to adjust some other fleet related configuration

like for example the refresh interval or the GPS time out on the Google™ Earth page in the

Settings section. Click Save to write the configuration into nonvolatile memory.

19. By clicking on Start Google™ Earth on the lower left of the screen a download dialogue will

appear prompting you to open or save the file geconfig.kml. If you wish to start right away,

select Open to open and load the file into Google™ Earth. Otherwise, save the file on your

hard drive.

20. Ensure your subscriber has a GPS fix, indicated by a full satellite dish (DP3601) on the display.

The radio will not be shown on the Google™ Earth map until the radio has a valid GPS fix.

3.1. Prerequisites

• The latest version of Google™ Earth, Google™ Earth Plus, Google™ Earth Pro or Google™ Earth

Enterprise (version 4 recommended) installed on any PC in your network.

Please note that at least Google™ Earth Pro is required for commercial use!

• An internet connection (preferably broadband e.g. DSL or WiMAX)

• An Ethernet cross cable (RJ45) to configure the hermesTRX (or a switch with 2 patch cables)

OR

• An Ethernet patch cable (RJ45) to integrate the hermesTRX into your existing network

• The RS232 interface cable (order ID 740.920) to connect the hermesTRX with the Motorola

TETRA radio which is intended for use as the base station.

• A PC running the Motorola TETRA CPS and appropriate programming cable to configure the

base and subscriber radios.

• We assume that the local network adapter on the PC has the IP address 192.168.178.68 (see

Illustration 3)

Important: Make a note of the local IP address of the base station PC, as Windows will

inevitably change it during this setup.

3.2. Setup of the TETRA Radios with CPS

Configure base radio (MTM800 enhanced):

1. The base radio must be registered to the TETRA network.

2. The ID of the base radio must be known to facilitate the installation process.

3. Check RS232 connection settings of the base radio (Data Services/PEI Parameters).

hermesTRX factory default: Baud = 115200, Parity = None,

4. Enable ETSI AT SDS Format (Data Services/PEI Parameters)

Configure subscriber radio (repeat these steps for all other subscribers):

1. Connect a radio that is used as a subscriber to the PC using the programming cable provided

by Motorola or hermes microcom (see price list for further details).

2. Start Motorola CPS software for TETRA and read the configuration of the radio.

3. Make a note of the ISSI shown on the Subscriber and Unit Parameters page.

4. Activate GPS at the Feature Flags page.

5. Go to GPS and open the GPS Settings.Enter the ISSI of the base radio (in this example 1901001)

into the GPS Authorized ISSI Base field. Select LRRP as GPS Location Protocol and deactivate

GPS SDS TL Disable.

6. Enable the LRRP Profiles for Powerup and Powerdown. Enter the base ISSI into the GPS LRRP

Destination ISSI field.

7. Write the configuration back to the subscriber radio and save it for future reference.

For information on how to configure the subscriber units, please see APPENDIX D.

3.3. Prepare the hermesTRX

The hermesTRX is shipped with default factory settings. Standard IP address and subnet mask are

as follows:

Factory default: IP 192.168.1.100 - Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

If your network segments differ from the ones stated above, you would need to adapt the network

settings of the hermesTRX for a seamless integration into your existing network. In this example (see

Illustration 3), we will assume your network is a set of /24 addresses which differs from the default

address in the third segment (e.g. 192.168.178.0 instead of 192.168.1.0).

Follow steps 1-13 and configure the hermesTRX accordingly. If you are unsure about what you

have to do, please contact your system administrator.

1. Open the properties for the TCP/IP protocol of your local area network interface on this PC

and take note of the currently configured IP.

2. Configure your PC to match the default network address range of the hermesTRX (192.168.1.0):

Set the IP address to 192.168.1.2 and set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. If you have

gateways or name servers in the list do not alter or amend them.

3. Disconnect your PC from your local network. Connect it to the hermesTRX using a separate

crossover network cable. Power up the hermesTRX by plugging in the power cord.

Alternatively, connect the hermesTRX to a hub/switch using a patch network cable and leave

your PC’s network cabling as it is. Then power up the hermesTRX.

4. Open your preferred browser; enter the default IP 192.168.1.100 of the hermesTRX in your

address bar and hit enter. The start page will appear.

5. Click on Settings to access the Network configuration page. You will be prompted to enter a

username and a password to proceed.

Factory default: user =admin password = 123456

From version 3.10 the hermesTRX has two separate user accounts, one for the user and

one for the administrator. The default user name for the TETRA systems is “tetra” and

the default administration user name is “admin”. The default passwords are in both

cases “123456”. See chapter 4.5.8 for more details.

6. Set the IP Address and Subnet to meet your local area network configuration. For our example

(see I llustration 3), enter the IP address 192.168.178.61, and leave the subnet mask to

255.255.255.0

7. If you want the hermesTRX to synchronize with a timeserver from the Internet enter the IP

address of your gateway into Internet Gateway. In most cases this would be the IP address of

your router, probably 192.168.178.1.

8. Click on Save to save the settings. The next page reminds you that a restart of the hermesTRX is

necessary to apply all changes. Return to the main page in order to continue with the

preparation of the hermesTRX in the next step.

9. Go to Settings - Time & Date to adjust the current time zone for your system. Click save to write

10. The hermesTRX is now configured and can be integrated into your network. Turn off the

hermesTRX by powering off the device, connect it to a hub or switch with a standard patch

cable and plug the power cord back in.

11. Change the IP address of your PC to its original setting (as previously noted down) and plug

the network cable of your local network back in. You can now access the hermesTRX with the

IP you assigned in step 6 via your browser.

3.4. Configure the hermesTRX

The next step will guide you through the configuration of a subscriber radio and how to start the

Google™ Earth application.

1. Enter the IP address (192.168.178.61) of the hermesTRX configured earlier into the address bar

of your browser.

2. Go to Settings, authenticate and click on Subscribers.

3. Enter the ISSI of your base radio into the first row (named Base), in this example 1901001.

Since version 3.33 the hermesTRX automatically detects the presence of the base radio

an queries its ISSI. No further action is required!

4. Next enter the ISSI of your subscriber, in this example 2401125, into the Radio ID field 1 to track

the radio with ISSI 2401125 (see I llustration 3). Assign an appropriate and unique name for the

subscriber (i.e. Vehicle 12) and change the icon if you wish. Click on Save to write the

configuration back to the hermesTRX.

5. Before you start Google™ Earth you may wish to adjust some other fleet related parameters

such as the refresh interval or the ‘GPS time out’ on the Google™ Earth page in the Settings

section. Click Save when you’re finished to write the configuration into nonvolatile memory.

6. By clicking on Start Google™ Earth on the lower left of the screen a download dialogue will

appear, prompting you to open or save the file ‘geconfig.kml’. If you wish to start right away,

then select Open to open and load the file into Google™ Earth. Otherwise, save the file onto

your hard drive.

7. Ensure your subscriber has a GPS fix, (which is indicated by a satellite dish (MTP850) icon on the

display). The radio will not be shown on the Google™ Earth map until the radio has a valid GPS

fix.

4. The hermesTRX web interface

This chapter explains all parameter settings, their purpose and what should be considered.

4.1. Start Screen /Home

The start screen is the first page you will see when you enter the web interface. The software

version is indicated on the lower left of the page.

4.2. Overview (PRO version only)

This page provides you with a compact overview of the whole fleet which is automatically

refreshed every 3 seconds. Each subscriber is displayed with its icon and actual state (depends

on the version of hermesTRX, MOTOTRBO™ or TETRA). The different states can be distinguished

through various colors and icons.

Sending a Text Message

By clicking on the subscriber’s envelope icon you can send a text message directly to the

subscriber.

Toggle GPS functionality per subscriber

The GPS feature of a single subscriber can be enabled or disabled (toggled) by clicking the

satellite dish icon. The icon will switch dynamically to indicate if the GPS feature is enabled or

disabled.

4.3.1. Message Index (PRO version only)

When you click on a mail folder, you will be taken to the message index. This lists messages in

the selected folder. The message index is separated into two parts

Menu Bar

Compose Opens the compose page to write a message.

Toggle All Toggles the selection of all messages on the actual page.

Read Marks the selected message as read.

Unread Marks the selected message as unread

Delete Deletes the selected message.

Message Table

If your mailbox contains many messages, the table will by default, be split into multiple

pages, the first page will be displayed. To view other pages, use the Previous and Next links

at the top and bottom of the message list. If you click ‘Show All’ you will disable the so-

called pagination and all messages will be displayed in one long list (see 4.4.5 Mail Settings

on how to set up the number of shown messages on each page).There is an additional status

line showing mails numerically and how many in total are in the queue.

4.3.2. Compose Message (PRO version only)

The Compose menu choice will take you to a new Compose page. Depending on how you

got to the compose view, some of these fields may already be filled in.

All outgoing messages will have the base radio ID’s return address filled in (see 4.4.4

Subscriber Configuration). Additional to the base radio ID the IP address of the PC from

where the message has been composed will be added to the name field.

Message List

Click this button to return to the folder from which you came.

Select Subscribers

This button opens a window showing all online subscribers. A subscriber can be simply added

by ticking the checkbox at the beginning of each row. If a broadcast message should be

send, tick the “Select All” button. To remove all selected subscribers tick the “Unselect All”

button. If you are finished click on “Close” to return to the compose page. Back on the

compose page you will see the selected subscriber already filled into the “To” field.

To

In this field you will see the selected subscribers you are sending a message to. See the

“Select Subscribers” for a description how to add subscribers.

Message Body

This is where you type the text of your message. Text messages are limited to a size of 144

characters per message.

Message with more than 144 characters will be automatically truncated by the

hermesTRX.

Save Draft button

If you've been composing a message but for some reason are not ready to send it, you can

use this button to save the message in the Drafts folder. If you want to finish the message

later and send it, go to the Drafts folder, open the message and you will return to the

compose page with your message already completed.

Send

By clicking the ‘send’ button the message will be put into the message queue and send out

to the selected subscribers. If sending is not successful, hermesTRX will retry (default value: 3

times) sending the message to the designated address (see 4.4.5 Mail settings). If the

message still cannot be delivered, an error message will be sent to the dispatcher’s inbox

indicating an unsuccessful delivery.

4.3.3. Read Message (PRO version only)

Click on the preview text of a particular message and that message will be displayed on the

next page. Another menu bar is now presented at the top. This bar is in three sections. On

the left side you may delete or return to the summary. In the centre, direct navigation

between messages is possible. On the right, various mailing functions are presented.

Message List

Click this link to return to the folder from which you came.

Delete

Click this link to delete the message being currently viewed.

Navigation (previous|next)

In the centre of the bar you will find the navigation buttons. The link “previous” will take you

to the previous messages. Similarly, should you click on “next’ this will take you to the next

message in the list.

Forward

On the right, the forward button, when clicked, opens the Compose page with the

previously viewed email in the text box. The “To” field for sending to an address awaiting

your completion. In order to add a recipient click on the “Select Subscriber” button and

select then at least one subscriber from the subscriber address window. You may also

position the cursor in the text box in order to add comments to the already existing text.

Reply

Click this link to return a new message to the originator of the previously viewed message.

The recipient’s address you’re replying to is already selected in the “To” field. You may add

additional recipients if you wish.

4.4. Recording and Playback (PRO version only)

hermesTRX provides a built-in recorder for all GPS subscribers. Every location report and change

of state (online, offline, etc.) of each GPS enabled radio is recorded on the SD card.

Each recording can be saved and viewed separately and will be stored for 31 days. There is no

configuration needed by the admin. Recording will start automatically by receiving the first

location report.

Selecting a recording file form the Playback Page

The playback page enables access to all recorded files. By entering the playback page the

hermesTRX will read the SD card for available recording files and show them summarized for each

subscriber in a dropdown field selectable by the date of recording.

To open a recording file simply click on the date of recording. The hermesTRX starts preparing a

KML file with all recorded information of that particular day. Depending on how many records

were made on the selected day for the subscriber, it can take a few minutes to create the route

file, before the hermesTRX prompt you to save or open the KML file. You can now save the KML

file and open it with Google Earth or you can simply click Open to start Google Earth right away

with the recorded tour.

Viewing Timelines in Google Earth (extract from Google Earth user guide)

If you have downloaded data that contains time information (for example, GPS tracks), you can view this information sequentially in Google Earth. For example, you can view GPS tracks that occurred within a specific time period and visually follow these tracks. To do this:

1. Import GPS data or other time-related data.

2. In the Places panel, select this data. The time slider appears at the top of the 3D viewer with a time range that corresponds to the data you selected.

3. Do any of the following:

a) To re-define the time range of data displayed in the 3D viewer, drag the range marker (see below) to the right or left.

b) To move the time range earlier or later, drag the time slider (see below) to the right or left. The range marker moves with the time slider so that the time range shown remains the same.

c) To play an animation of the sequence, click the Play button (see below).

Features of the time slider include:

1. Click this to play an animation of a sequence. This works best if you move the range marker to define a time range smaller than the whole set. Click the adjacent buttons to step forward or back.

2. Drag the range marker to the right or left to re-define the time range of data displayed.

3. Click this to set options for the time slide.

4. Zoom in or out to shorten or lengthen the date range covered by your timeline. This allows you to more easily see the different imagery that's available within a shorter or longer period of time. Notice that, as you zoom in or out, the Start and End dates on the timeline change.

4.5. Settings

4.5.1. Network Settings

IP Address

The IP address of the hermesTRX in the local area network (LAN). This parameter MUST be set!

You can enter A, B and C class IP addresses.

CAUTION: Please note that the IP address for your LAN environment must NOT be within

the range of your MOTOTRBO™ CAI IP addresses or the MOTOTRBO™ Accessory IP

address range. Otherwise the system will not work!

Subnet

The subnet must be set according to your local network. If you are unsure about what to do,

please contact your system administrator.

Default: IP 192.168.1.100, Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

MOTOTRBO™ Gateway (only available in MOTOTRBO™ version!)

The IP of the PC where the MOTOTRBO™ radio (base) is connected.

MOTOTRBO™ CAI Network (only available in MOTOTRBO™ version!)

The ‘Common Air Interface Network’ (CAI) of your MOTOTRBO™ fleet.

CAUTION: All radios (base and subscribers) must be within the same CAI Network

range; otherwise the system will not work!

Domain

Used for advanced configuration. If you wish to access the hermesTRX located within your

LAN or from the Internet. Enter a valid domain name, e.g. a DYNDNS account such as

microcom.dyndns.biz). Do not forget to configure port forwarding from your router/firewall to

port 80 of the hermesTRX’s IP address. The domain name will be saved in the .kml

configuration file.

Internet Gateway

The Internet gateway in your network. In most cases, this will be the IP of your router.

4.5.2. Date and Time

On every system start, hermesTRX reads date and time from a NTP timeserver. This NTP

timeserver can be located in your network or in the Internet. If the synchronization with the

timeserver fails, date and time have to be adjusted manually.

Time Server

The IP address of a valid timeserver with NTP protocol. Default: 130.149.17.21

If the Time Server is not set or set to an incorrect/unreachable IP address, the

hermesTRX will need additional 15 – 20 seconds to boot before it is ready to accept

connections via Ethernet.

Date

Enter date manually. Format: DD.MM.YYYY

Only available if synchronization with timeserver has failed during startup!

Time

Enter time manually. Format: HH:MM

Only available if synchronization with timeserver has failed during startup!

Time Zone

Your time zone, range from -12 to +12. Default: +1 (CET).

Max Info Age

Specifies the maximum GPS information age for the subscriber radios. If there is no valid GPS

fix for this period, radio will send location messages indicated as “no GPS fix”.

Default: Refresh every 60 seconds

Refresh Interval

Determines the time between two updates of position data of your subscribers. This value is

used for all configured subscribers (i.e. a fleet default value)!

Default: Refresh every 2 minutes

Automatic Interval Calculation and Reconfiguration

To avoid channel overload and collision errors on the MOTOTRBO and TETRA networks

respectively, the hermesTRX automatically adjusts and reconfigures the smallest possible

interval value applied to all subscribers should hermesTRX deem this necessary. This will be

applied taking the umber of GPS active subscribers to ensure optimum performance of the

system.

MOTOTRBO 1: 1 Channel configuration (without Revert Channel Option)

8 seconds per subscriber are used to calculate the smallest possible interval

with one MOTOTRBO channel.

((GPS subscribers x 8 seconds) + 59) / 60 = smallest possible interval (rounding)

MOTOTRBO 2: 2 Channel configuration (with Revert Channel Option)

4 seconds per subscriber are used to calculate the smallest possible interval

with two MOTOTRBO channel or slots.

((GPS subscribers x 4 seconds) + 59) / 60 = smallest possible interval (rounding)

information on planning a MOTOTRBO network.

TETRA: 4 seconds per subscriber are used to calculate the smallest possible interval.

GPS Timeout

GPS Timeout is the time after a subscriber is removed from the map view if no location

message is received. The same timeout is used to set a subscriber from state ‘online’ to

‘absent’ after the subscriber stopped sending location messages without having received a

deregistration request from hermesTRX.

For instance, a refresh interval of 1 minute and a configured GPS Lifetime of 3 will remove

the subscriber after 3 minutes from Google Earth.

Default: factor 2 (2 x 2 minutes = 4minutes)

Speed and Direction

Enable this option to receive speed and direction information of all GPS activated

subscribers. By selecting “km/h” or “mp/h” the feature is enabled and the subscriber radio

will send its speed in “km/h” or “mp/p” and heading information on each position update.

Speed and direction information is only shown in Google Earth. Click on the subscriber icon

to see detailed information about the subscriber (balloon). See Chapter 4.7 Google Earth for

further details.

Fly To View

When set to ‘yes’ (default), the camera will automatically fly to a position showing all

vehicles who have their postion indicated on the map. This feature provides an overview of

the entire fleet (those who have sent in a GPS postion update). The further the distance

between the vehicles, the more the camera will zoom out. Please note that the camera will

fly to this position each time position updates are received, (determined by the refresh

interval). It will also zoom out if “hermesTRX” is ticked in the list of places within Google™

Earth. If you wish to keep the view onto a single unit or a custom view, this setting must be

disabled within Google™ Earth itself or changed here before starting hermesTRX with Google

Earth.

Default: Fly To View yes

Fixed Position

In addition to the fleet, a fixed position/location may be included on the map (e.g.

company headquarters/ bus depot etc.). Check the box for “Home” to activate this place

mark on the map. Enter a name and description for this static location, and enter the

position in the fields “Longitude” and “Latitude” in a decimal format, i.e.

“11.46236333333333” and “48.09093166666667” or “-77.036685” and “38.897530”.

Note that decimals are separated by a dot! Entering a colon as separator will lead to a

display error!

4.5.5. Subscribers

The subscriber settings page contains all options to enable a subscriber radio to be added

and configured to the hermesTRX system. Enable the checkbox “Active” to add a subscriber

to the hermesTRX. Entering the Radio ID/ISSI is mandatory! Furthermore, a unique name can

be assigned with the Radio ID/ISSI. This name will be used along with the radio ID to easily

identify the subscriber amongst the other subscribers in addition to the numeric Radio

IDs/ISSIs.

Configuring the Base

The first row is reserved for the base radio ID and indicated with “Base” at the beginning.

MOTOTRBO SMTP: This setting is mandatory for the MOTOTRBO SMTP model! To ensure

the mail functionality is available, the radio ID or the raido connected to the PC must

be entered into the Radio ID field.

TETRA: The base ISSI in all TETRA models will be detected automatically by the

hermesTRX. There is no further configuration necessary besides assigning a proper

name for the base.

Active

If checked, the corresponding subscriber is configured to the hermesTRX system and will be

available for features such as ‘GPS, text messaging, job dispatching’, etc.

Ensure your radios have the same CAI Network IP set in the CPS of each MOTOTRBO™ radio

(see Appendix A). Leave the checkbox unchecked for inactive/unneeded subscribers.

NOTE: Those subscribers configured are controlled during system start. Having many

unused subscribers configured in the system will cause a delay the booting process and

slows down the system in general!

Radio ID / ISSI

The Radio ID/ISSI will appear in the list of tracked vehicles in Google™ Earth and represents

the address of the subscriber in the infrastructure of MOTOTRBO™ or TETRA. The address will

be also shown in Google™ Earth.

GPS data. If a subscriber’s position data is not necessary, leave this unchecked. Unticking

this option will configure the subscriber to stop sending location reports to the hermesTRX.

NOTE: If the quantity of valid subscribers to be processed at the configured interval

value is exceeded, then hermesTRX will recalculate the interval value and reconfigure

all subscribers with the smallest possible interval value (see 4.5.4 Google Earth

“Automatic Interval Calculation” for further details).

Text

Activate this option to enable text messaging for this subscriber.

NOTE: Make sure the required radio is capable of this feature (i.e has a display)

because no error message will be returned if this is configured in error to an unsuitable

subscribers radio.

Status

This informs you, if the subscriber is currently available (online). Once a subscriber is switched

on, it will automatically send a registration message to the hermesTRX (see 2.2 How to

configure MOTOTRBO™ radios). A green icon will indicate subscribers, which have registered

successfully.

During startup of hermesTRX all subscribers are queried for their ‘presence’. If a query is

acknowledged, hermesTRX will configure the subscriber to send its location within the

configured interval (see Google Earth Settings).

Emergency Case: In case of emergency (ALERT) the status icon will be changed to red. Click

the status icon to reset the state to “normal” if necessary.

Select the icon for this subscriber. By clicking on “Icon”, a new window will open showing all

available icons.

Each subscriber which has been correctly configured will register itself to the hermesTRX

when it is switched on. Once a subscriber is successfully registered to the hermesTRX, every

change in state will be recognized by the system and indicated to the user.

Alert

By receiving the predefined text string “TRX_ALERT_ON” the hermesTRX will set the sending

subscriber radio into state “alert”. The hermesTRX will immediately change the icon color into

red and hold this state until the subscriber sends “TRX_ALERT_OFF” to deactivate the alert. An

audible tone is being played an every page of the hermesTRX to draw the supervisors

attention to the urgent situation.

Custom States

Three free definable states may be configured. To activate a custom state enable the check

box and enter a name and a unique text string.

For example, the hermesTRX receives the text string “TRX_SU_STATE1”. The icon color of the

sending subscriber will change into cyan. The color will not change until a different state is

activated (e.g. custom state 2, alert) or the subscriber sends the string to reset the state

“TRX_SU_RESET”.

NOTE:

Dependent upon the last state indication received (text string or ARS) the hermesTRX will

change the color of the icon accordingly in real-time.

In case of an emergency (ALERT) every other state will be ignored and the icon color of this

particular subscriber will be changed to red. The hermesTRX will indicate this emergency until

the subscriber deactivates the emergency, even if the subscriber is online, absent or offline.

4.5.7. Mail (PRO version only)

Mails per page

If your mailbox contains many messages, the message table will by default split into multiple

pages with the first page being displayed. To view other pages, use the Previous and Next

buttons at the top and bottom of the message table. This value defines how many messages

shall be shown on the first page. Possible values are from 1-99.

Default: 14(optimized for a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels)

Resend retries

This value defines how often the hermesTRX should retry to send a message before it quits

with an error message to the sender’s inbox. Time interval between every retry is 70 seconds.

Default: 3

4.5.7.1. SMTP Configuration (MOTOTRBO SMTP version only)

The hermesTRX SMTP version is capable of sending messages from an email client such as

outlook (or other email programs) to a registered subscriber’s radio of the hermesTRX and in

the reverse direction.

To achieve such a configuration an individual email server (Microsoft Exchange, Apple OS X

Mail Server, etc.) is mandatory and routing configurations have to be assigned. Please see

the hermesTRX SMTP Configuration Guide for further details about the prerequisites and

necessary configuration data.

SMTP Server Configuration

The hermesTRX has an integrated SMTP server and client in order to receive and send emails.

To receive emails from other SMTP servers, the hermesTRX needs to be configured with an

individual email domain - this is mandatory!

The email address of a subscriber is ‘Radio ID’@’Email Domain’. In this example subscriber

with the radio ID 234 would have the email address [email protected].

Email Domain

Enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the hermesTRX email domain.

Default Subject

SMTP Relay Server (Client configuration)

An SMTP Relay Server is necessary to send messages to foreign email recipients. By leaving

the User and Password field empty, the hermesTRX sends the message without authenticating

before. If authentication is required, a user name and password can be entered to

authenticate via SMTP AUTH LOGIN.

IP address

IP address of the SMTP Relay Server. This server is used to send messages to external

recipients.

User:

User which is needed to authenticate. Authentication method must be SMTP AUTH

LOGIN.

Password

Password to authenticate the sender.

To enable subscriber radios to send messages to an email address, a special contact type

(dispatch call) has to be configured to the MOTOTRBO radios and a global TMS server (base

radio ID) needs to be configured also. The dispatch call contains a virtual Radio ID which is

associated with a recipients email address on the hermesTRX SMTP configuration page.

Therefore if a subscriber wishes to send a message to an email address, it selects one of the

preconfigured contacts (dispatch call) pre-programmed into the radio and sends the

message to the TMS Server (base radio ID) configured including the virtual radio ID. The

hermesTRX will then send an email to the associated email address of the dispatch Radio ID.

The Email Aliases configuration table also acts as a white list. Emails from senders which are

not configured in the Email Aliases table are rejected with an SMTP error message.

Radio ID

Virtual Radio ID which is configured to the dispatch call contact in the subscriber radio.

Email Address

Associated email address according to the virtual Radio ID of the dispatch call. Also

allowed recipient and sender email address.

There are two types of passwords, which can be set within hermesTRX. The user password is

used to connect to the Web server of hermesTRX, send mails, open recording files and

retrieve the KML files for Google Earth. The admin password is required to view and change

settings such as IP address and other vital parameters. The maximum length for each text

field is 7 characters.

4.5.9. Maintenance

Shutdown

Shutting down hermesTRX will configure all subscribers to stop sending location messages.

Further incoming text messages will be discarded. Access to the KML file is locked and will be

unlocked after a restart of hermesTRX.

If any IP address of hermesTRX has been changed, a shutdown to reconfigure all

subscriber radios is necessary. Disregarding this warning and powering off the

hermesTRX without shutting it down will resultin an unknown system state.

Restore

In case of a malfunction you can restore the hermesTRX to factory default settings.

All settings will be reset to factory default. It is essential to write down every non-

default value. All values must be entered again after the reset. After 30 seconds the

device will be available again with the default IP address.

4.7. Start Google™ Earth

After successful configuration of hermesTRX, click on “Start Google™ Earth”. A dialogue box will

open asking for ‘save’ or ‘open’ the geconfig.kml file. If Google™ Earth is already installed, ‘open’

starts Google™ Earth.

If you prefer to save the file to your hard drive prior to opening it, then choose a location on your

hard drive and save the file. Ensure that Google™ Earth is installed on your computer, and then

find the geconfig.kml you have previously saved and double click on it. This will automatically start

Google™ Earth with the configured settings.

After Google™ Earth is started and running, a dialogue will open, requesting a username and

password. After a successful authorization, the list of tracked vehicles will appear in the tree view

under temporary places, named “hermesTRX Tracking Overview”. Double clicking on the headline

will centralize the view over the fleet. It will center automatically if “fly to view” is enabled.

You don’t need to start Google™ Earth with the configuration file every time. If you right

click on “hermesTRX” in the tree view and select “Add to My Places”, the link will be added

permanently to your personal list of places. Upon startup of Google™ Earth, the tracking

overview will be shown on the map automatically.

Important: If you added the list in “My Places”, you have to change settings for “Refresh

Interval” and “Fly To View” within Google™ Earth. Changing these settings via the hermesTRX

configuration interface will not have any effect unless you save the geconfig.kml file again,

open Google™ Earth and add it to your list of places again.

Subscriber Information and text messaging with Google Earth (pro Version only)

To see detailed information of a single subscriber, click on the icon inside the map view. A balloon

will pop up with the latest information of the subscriber radio like status and time stamp of last

received position update.

Also if enabled the speed and direction of the particular subscriber

can be displayed. The subscriber icon itself additionally rotate

towards the direction information received from the subscriber unit.

Subscribers who have the TEXT option enabled (see 4.5.5 Subscriber

configuration) will also show the last received text message.

Furthermore, links to reply and forward to the last message and a link

to compose a new message are included too.

Appendix A: How to upload a new firmware

To upload a new firmware to the hermesTRX, please follow the following steps carefully.

Prerequisites:

1. PC with a RS232 interface installed with a terminal program capable

sending files with the XMODEM or YMODEM protocol (e.g. Hyper Terminal)

2. A dongle in order to cross PIN 7 and 8.

3. Programming cable (check price list for further details)

1. Obtain the newest firmware image file from hermes microcom.

2. Take note of your individual settings! As the hermesTRX will be reset to factory defaults after the

update process, it is essential to take a note of every non-default value (including settings and

subscribers for Google™ Earth). These have to be entered again after the new firmware has been

uploaded.

3. Activate the boot loader of the hermesTRX.

Pins 7 and 8 of the RS232 interface must be crossed before turning on the device. Unplug the

RS232 cable to enable access to the pins. Bridge Pins 7 and 8 (e.g. with a custom dongle). Once

the hermesTRX has been turned on (do not turn it off again!), unplug the dongle and reconnect

the RS232 programming cable. The hermesTRX is now ready to accept the new firmware.

4. Start the terminal program (in this example Windows Hyper Terminal), open to the COM port the

hermesTRX is plugged in and use the following port settings:

Baud rate: 115200, Data: 8, Parity: None, Stop: 1, Flow Control: None

5. Press the return key to start the update process.

6. Enter the update password “update4hermesTRX” without the quotation marks. Please keep in mind

the password is cAsE sEnSItiVe.

7. The bootloader is now ready to receive the firmware file. Please select Transfer in the menu bar

and then click on Send file. A new window will open, asking you to select the file you would like to

send and which protocol should be used. Click on Browse and select the IMG file provided by

hermes microcom. Afterwards click on the protocol dropdown menu and select Xmodem. Press

Send to start transmission.

8. After the update is complete, you must restart the device by turning it off and on again.

9. Before you connect to the hermesTRX with your Internet Browser, it is MANDATORY to clear your browser cache! The hermesTRX may not function properly if old cached code is used.

10. You may now connect to the hermesTRX with your browser via the default IP address

(192.168.1.100). Reconfigure the device by entering the settings you have taken down in step 2.

Appendix C: Configure MOTOTRBO™ Radios without GPS Revert Channel

This chapter describes the basic setup for Motorola Radios with the CPS software without the GPS

Revert Channel feature.

Please note all settings contained within this chapter are mandatory.

Preliminary steps:

1. Install the CPS on your PC.

2. Connect the radio to a USB port and turn the radio on.

3. Start the CPS software, click on “View” in the menu and set it to “Expert”. Click on “Read” to

load the information stored in the radio.

1. General Settings

Name and ID

Enter a name for the radio, followed by the Radio ID. The ID specified here would also be the last

octet of the IP address within the CAI Network! We recommend setting the ID of the base station

to ID 1.

GPS (for subscriber radios only)

Radio IP

Assign an IP address for the USB interface.

Base Radio: 192.168.10.1

Accessory IP

The Accessory IP is automatically set to the Radio IP + 1. If the IP’s last octet of the base

station is set to 1, then the virtual network interface on the PC (see Appendix B) will

automatically have 2 as the last octet.

The base radio Accessory IP address must NOT be within the range of your LAN IP

addresses. Otherwise the system will not work!

CAI Network

Defines the address block of the over-the-air interface of MOTOTRBO™ radios.

Please note that all radios must be within the same CAI network. Otherwise the system will

not work!

ARS Radio ID

The Automatic Registration Service Radio ID is the ID of the radio, which is connected to the PC.

When the radio powers up, it announces its presence to the hermesTRX using the base station PC.

You have to enter the radio ID of the base radio connected to the gateway PC.

Appendix D: Configure MOTOTRBO™ Radios with GPS Revert Channel

This chapter describes the basic setup for Motorola Radios with the CPS software with the GPS Revert

Channel feature.

Please note all settings contained within this chapter are mandatory.

For preliminary steps see appendix C.

1. General Settings

Name and ID

Enter a name for the radio, followed by the Radio ID. The ID specified here would also be the last

octet of the IP address within the CAI Network!

Base Radio Configuration

We recommend setting the ID of the base station radios to ID 1.

Please note that BOTH base radios must have the same Radio ID.

GPS (for subscriber radios only)

Untick “GPS” only if you are configuring the base station where GPS data is not required.

Otherwise tick the box to enable transmission of GPS data.

LRRP Profiles

In order to optimize traffic and subscriber handling, hermesTRX processes login and logoff

messages from the subscriber radios.

1. Open the LRRP Profiles folder and select the Powerup Profile

2. Activate the GPS Event Location Enable checkbox

3. Enter the ISSI of your base radio into the GPS LRRP Destination ISSI field

4. Set the GPS Max Acquisition Delay to 10 seconds.

Repeat steps 1-3 for the Powerdown Profile too.

5. Save

After configuration is complete, click on “Write” to send the configuration data to the radio. We

recommend saving the configuration file/code plug to your hard drive for later reference.

Appendix G: How to use hermesTRX GPS information for external Application

There are two ways to gather information from the hermesTRX for external application.

a) Serial Interface (RS232)

All subscriber related events, such as registration, GPS position, state messages and many other

information are shown on the serial interface of the hermesTRX. By parsing the output line by line,

the information can be used for an external MAP application.

Example output on the serial interface.

In this example the hermesTRX has received a GPS position (decimal degree value) from

subscriber with radio ID 2 at 15:35:06

b) KML Interface (HTTP)

Another solution to collect data from the hermesTRX is to parse the KML file which is used by the

Google Earth interface. The KML file is an XML based file format.

To generate a KML file the following CGI function must be triggerd:

By triggering this function, the hermesTRX will generate each time the function is called a new

generated KML file with the latest information of all subscribers.

Within this KML file all subscribers are separated into placemarks. Each placemark contains all

the subscriber’s GPS position.

Appendix H: Emergency signaling at the RS232 Interface (PRO version)

Version 3.5 or newer has an emergency signaling implemented at the RS232 interface.

If a subscriber enters into emergency state (see Appendix E) the RS232 "DATA CARRIER DETECT" signal
