Herkimer Elementary
School Newsletter
2018
Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope everyone had time to relax with family and friends and enjoy the holiday winter break. With the New Year, HES wishes you much health and happiness! PTA Events & Activities
PTA continues to support our students with a variety of activities and provided our students
with a peppermint treat for the holidays.
PTA partnered with Student Council and donated (15) Hannaford gift cards to put in the
Christmas food baskets. It is truly an organization that remains student focused and I encourage you to become involved! Meetings are the third Monday of each month. We look forward to seeing you there. School Policy As the holiday season brings new electronic devices and cell phones, please note the elementary school’s policy on these items. Students are not permitted to use cell phones during the school day. If a staff member sees a student with a cell phone, iPod, or electronic device, they will confiscate the device and you, the parent/guardian, will be contacted to come and pick it up in the office. The school is not liable if a device is lost or stolen. The policy is located in the Handbook for Students and Parents. Dismissal/Parking Please note that there is NO parking at any time in the front driveway and the bus loop in the back of the school. It is reserved for a fire lane and cars should not park there at any time. This includes events at night, athletic contests, and any practices or games scheduled over the weekend. Thank you for adhering to this safety rule. Tardy Students If you are bringing your child in late, 8:25 AM or after, you MUST accompany him/her into the school and sign them in. Students should not be dropped off to walk into the school on their own. School Closings/Delays Please let the office know of any changes in your address or phone number in the event of a school closing or delay. We utilize Blackboard Connect for notification of such events and need current, viable numbers to call. The system does not recognize phones that have music for voicemail purposes. As always if you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the main office. Educationally yours, Mrs. Renee Vogt
