    Paternal Line of GeorgeA. Sanchez

Octavo Abuelo Juan Dominguez de Mendoza. Fray Chavez in his book Origins of NewMexico Families speculates that a Pedro and Jacinto Sanchez de Inigowere two brothers who escaped the 1680 Indian massacre as minors orwere born at Guadalupe del Paso, which was then considered a part ofNew Mexico, and returned for the re-settlement in 1693. From a DMof 1691(?) Fray Chavez gets that Pedro was born in "New Mexico" andis the natural son of Ana (Juana) Lopez and married Leonora Baca atEl Real de San Lorenzo on January 7, 1692. A Francisca Sanchez deInigo, the wife of Capitan Juan Garcia de Noriego, was most likely hissister. And he could well be a "Pedro Lopez de Yniguez" who wassoldiering at Guadalupe del Paso prior to the Recoquest, Fray Chavez, however, also gives evidence that a Dominguez de Mendoza, with whomJacinto might have tried to run away from the exiled colony in NewMexico, might have been the father of both Inigo men and thai their mothermight have been one of the adult daughters of Diego Lopez del Castillo.

Septimo Abuelo Jacinto Sanchez de Inigo. Jacinto was twenty-two years old in 1685,when he tried to run away from the exiled colony with Juan Dominguezde Mendoza. Here his parents were given as unknown. Maria wasa native of Sombrerete, the daughter of Miguel de Castro Xabalera andJuana Guerrera or de Herrera. They had Francisco, who married JosefaChaves; Gertrudis; and Miguel. Jacinto gave his age as thirty-five in 1697saying that he was a native of New Mexico. In 1703 he received a grantof land on the Rio del NOlie, on the east side opposite Cochiti Pueblo. In1713 he was Alcalde Major of Santa Cruz, but was considered tooincompetent by the govemor. In 1715 he asked for a permit to visit outsideNew Mexico with his son Francisco. On his return he settled down in theRio Abajo district. In 1728 Jacinto led an unauthorized small expeditioninto the Moqui country. Jacinto was "more than ftfty" when he diedDecember 14, 1734
