The Festival is pleased to announce that tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 16 at 10 AM for one of the most acclaimed artists in modern music - HERBIE HANCOCK. More artists to be announced at a later date. Herbie Hancock is an icon of modern music. Throughout his illustrious career, he has transcended genres while maintaining his unmistakable voice. Acclaimed as a legendary pianist and composer, Hancock has been an integral part of every jazz move- ment since the ’60s. With the Miles Davis Quintet, he was a member of one of the most influential bands in the history of music. His recordings during the ’70s combined electric jazz with funk and rock sounds in an innovative style that continues to influence contemporary music. In the 80‘s, “Rockit” and “Future Shock” marked Hancock’s foray into electronic dance music and included several chart-topping hits. The master musician remains active in both the electronic pop and acoustic jazz worlds. Hancock has received an Academy Award for his Round Midnight film score and 14 Grammy Awards including two for his globally collaborative CD, The Imagine Project. Many of his compositions, including “Watermelon Man,”“Maiden Voyage,” and “Chameleon,” are modern standards that have had a profound effect on all styles of music.
