*CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsive) adapted from 2020 Horizons ~ Presbyterian Women of the PC(USA)God calls us into being.

The Lord calls each of us by name. Our Creator knows us completely.

Our Savior loves us entirely. Our Sustainer breathes words of comfort into our souls.

We know that God is with us as we gather to worship and always.

*PRAYER FROM THE HEART OF LAMENTadapted from 2020 Horizons ~ Presbyterian Women of the PC(USA)Great God – Be present now as your people come to you, as we ponder our lives, as we

understand anew your love for us. May our questions come from honest places and our love for you be heard in every word we say, felt in every breath we breathe, and witnessed in every action we take for your name’s sake. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS adapted from Psalm 103:8-10The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

God does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

Sure that the Lord’s promises are true today and always, let us then declare together:By God’s grace, in Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.

*SHARING OF THE PEACEThe peace of Christ be with you.

LITANY FOR ALL SAINTS’ AND THE LORD’S PRAYER adapted from The Book of Common WorshipGod of the Ages – We praise you for all your servants, who have done justice, loved mercy, and walked humbly with you, their God. For those no longer remembered, who earnestly sought you in darkness, who held fast to their faith in trial, and served others,

we praise you, O God.

For those we have known and loved, who by their faithful obedience and steadfast hope, have shown the same mind that was in Christ Jesus,

we praise you, O God.

For those we know and those whose names will never be known to us, the saints fighting the good fight of life this day and those rejoicing in your abundant blessings, including _____

God of the Ages – Keep us grateful for the witness of all your saints, and count us among their number. May all your children be eager to follow the way of Christ, and, at the last, bring us together to share in the inheritance of the saints of light. These and all our prayers we pray through Jesus Christ, the perfecter of our faith, who taught us to pray and when praying to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread;and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

CALL TO OFFERING from Matthew 6:21Jesus said: Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. We treasure all of the ways our worshipping life together continues to unfold.

We also affirm that the mission of Emporia Presbyterian Church goes on as we remain committed to our mission partnerships, helping neighbors through our local emergency assistance fund, as well as meeting our ongoing church commitments.

You can pay your pledge or support special offerings by clicking GIVE on the church website, or you can mail your offering and still get your pledge for 2021 in to the church office.

With hearts attuned to God, let us return to our Lord, God’s tithes, our offerings, and our intentions to further Christ’s work in compassionate and creative ways.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Unison) adapted from 2020 Horizons ~ Presbyterian Women of the PC(USA) God of life – You have done for us what we could not do for ourselves. You have

brought freedom to us when we were captive to death. May we choose to live, forgiven and freed by you through Jesus Christ, and may the tokens of gratitude we return to you and the lives we live enable others to live with the same freedom, forgiveness, mercy, provision, and grace. Amen.

ScriptureHebrews 11:1-2, 32; 12:1-2 The Meaning of Faith

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval.

And what more should I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—

The Example of JesusTherefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
