Why do I need privatemedical insurance?

    1 Treatment in hygienic surroundings

With superbugs and MRSA threats constantly being reported, 62% o people taking private medical

insurance said that gaining access to clean hospitals was the main reason why they opted or private care 1.

    2 Access to treatment quickly

The government has stated that no one should have to wait more than 18 weeks rom reerral to

treatment on the NHS2. However, eeling unwell or in pain or 18 weeks can be too long to bear

or many. Private medical insurance gives you access to treatment immediately ater diagnosis,

eliminating the anxiety o waiting or medical care.

    3 Private acilities

Whether you choose to have your treatment in a private hospital or be treated privately in an NHS

hospital, you can enjoy the privacy o your own en-suite room.

4 Choice about where you are treated

As a private patient, youll have more choice about where you want to be treated, who treats you and

when you want the treatment to take place. Youll avoid the postcode lottery oten associated with some

    orms o healthcare3.

Getting quick and easy access to the right health cover when you need it is essential.

Whilst the NHS aims to treat everyone as quickly as they can, oten they are so overstretched

that this isnt always possible. Thats where private medical insurance can help.

Private medical insurance can provide peace o mind along with reedom o choice when it comes to both

your health and the health o your amily. For an agreed monthly payment you get quick access to a wide

range o treatments at clean, private hospitals, anywhere in the country.

Private medical insurancewith a real dierence

Traditionally, private medical insurance has been considered by some as expensive and restrictive when it

comes to claims, and even wasteul with some people being covered or an amount ar greater than

    they need.

Thats why the Healthcare Deposit Account has been created. It provides ast and comprehensive

healthcare when you need it most, but in a very dierent way. Unlike other policies, your premiums wont

increase each year and youll build a cash und which youll use towards each claim. The way the plan is

set up keeps your premiums to a minimum, making this cover very aordable.

    Why were unique

    Problems withtraditional cover

The benefts o the HealthcareDeposit Account

    Yearly premium increases

Each year your premiums are reviewed based on

your current age and health, so theyre likely

    to increase.

    Fix your premiums or lie

We will never increase your monthly premiums,

well just increase your minority share o each claim

when you reach 65. So, as your minimum premium

is based on your joining age it makes sense to join

    sooner rather than later.

Reduced premiums may mean reduced cover

Reducing the cost o premiums usually means

limiting the number o benefts you can claim or.

    Comprehensive cover

    Cover includes consultations, surgery, recognised

alternative therapies, cancer and heart treatment.

You are also covered or a range o dental and

    optical claims as standard.

    Rejection on renewal

I your health has deteriorated, its possible that your

cover wont be renewed or the ollowing year.

Cover or as long as you want it

Your Healthcare Deposit Account continues or

as long as you want it to with no renewal notices

or premium reviews. Well simply write to you

each year to confrm how much you have in your

    personal deposit account.

Excess to pay when you claim

You suddenly need cash to und towards your claim.

You simply pay your share and no more

This is a simple deduction rom the balance you have

    built with us.

    Limited choice o treatment location

You may have to use treatment providers that have

    already been designated.

Choose rom unrestricted network o hospitals

You can choose where you have your treatment.

More cover than you needSome minimum levels o annual cover are sometimes

    unnecessarily high, which increases premiums.

You select your level o cover and premium

From 5,000 to 100,000, you select the amount

o cover you think you need. This, along with your

age, will dictate your monthly premium. So you

can select a monthly premium that you know you

    can aord.

    5

    Plus extra benefts

You wont pay or other peoples claims.

We wont infate the premium o those who dont claim to subsidise those who do.

Your individual premium is based on you and you alone not our other customers.

Cash back or NHS stays. I you decide to have treatment in an NHS hospital you can

claim cash back or up to 10 overnight stays.

    Problems with traditionalcover (continued)

The benefts o the HealthcareDeposit Account (continued)

    No claims discount

They always sound good, but i you claim even a

small amount you lose your no claims discount and

    premiums can increase substantially.

    Your health is important

We consider your health too important so we never

discourage you rom claiming. I you do claim, it

    will not aect your premiums.

    Limits on certain claims

You may only be covered up to a certain amount

    each year or some conditions/treatments.

    No limits or separate procedures

All medical claims can be claimed rom your annual

allowance. Only dental & optical and NHS claims

    have separate set limits.

Compromise on how quickly you can get cover

Some less expensive policies only allow you to go

private i you have to wait weeks or NHS treatment.

    Youll be seen straight away

With the Healthcare Deposit Account, you always

have the option to go private straight away with

an unrestricted choice o UK1 private hospitals and

treatment locations. Or, i youd preer to save

money on treatment, you can opt to use the NHS.

I youre unsure, our claims process is managed by

doctors and nurses wholl give you proessional

medical guidance throughout your treatment to

    help you decide.

1For the purposes o this plan this means England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle o Man.

    Explaining the top-up cover

You have the choice o either 10 a month which gives you an extra 30,000 o medical cover, or

15 a month which gives you an extra 45,000 o medical cover.

Your personal deposit account balance will be used towards the claim rst, beore the top-up is used.

Your top-up cover will reduce each time you use it .

The top-up does not include cover or dental or optical claims or NHS hospital stay payments.

It lasts or ten years or until it runs out, whichever is sooner. At this point you should ensure your

personal deposit account balance is enough to cover your own share o any claims.
