Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (CAWR) CadSim Course

What can you expect from this course?

This course involves a full day of theory, practical experience and knowledge of this complex area via didactic teaching and group discussions as well as radiological imaging.

The faculty is highly experienced and varied with both general surgeons and plastic surgeons involved to provided expert surgical mentorship. We uniquely have an anatomist to present the detailed anatomy of the abdominal wall.

Day 2 takes place in the cadaveric labs in Leeds. We will have 8 Thiel cadavers available and a mixture of delegates. Trainees will consist of general surgical trainees of different levels. Paediatric surgical trainees have also been invited. There will also be theatre assistants and we have invited several surgical care practitioners.

We receive sponsorship from Bard and Medtronic for supplies for cadaveric procedures

You will obtain verbal feedback on a regular basis throughout the course. We will ask you to complete standardised feedback forms about the course (the lectures and the practical dissection) and its delivery so that we may endeavour to improve the course and its material over subsequent years.

We expect that the cadavers will not score as highly since earlier in the year another cohort of trainees has used them for CadSim training.
