He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force as a security forces leader and retired as a chief master sergeant and earned two Bronze Star Medals. He holds a M.S. in criminal justice from Charleston Southern University and M.A. in business and organizational security management from Webster University. He serves on the board of the S.C. Campus Law Enforcement Association. Sharon Sellers, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR is president of SLS Consulting, an international human resources services and training firm. She is a past-president of the Tri-County HR Management Association, served on the S.C. Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) State Council and was named as one of CRBJ’s 2011 Influential Women in Business. She holds a B.S. in psychology and a master’s in management. In addition to her consulting, she is an adjunct human resources instructor at Trident Technical College. Dr. Greg Turpin holds a doctorate in chiropractic, bachelor’s in both theatre from the College of Charleston and human biology from Texas Chiropractic College and is certified in neuromuscular therapy (CNT) and active release technique (ART). He taught neuromuscular therapy and was dean of academic affairs, while also having a successful practice as a licensed massage therapist. He co-authored a research paper showcased at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference. Marianne C. Weinstein has worked in the fitness and wellness industry for 35 years. With a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a variety of professional certifications, she has held positions as CEO of the Port Chester, N.Y. YMCA, head of physical education for grades K3-12 at Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville, S.C. and currently oversees the wellness center at Trident Tech in addition to teaching part-time at the Summerville Family YMCA. She is married to Eric and has two children, Brielle and Dalton. Levonia Williams, JD, SHRP is an attorney and human resources professional. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law with an emphasis in employment law and labor law-related studies and studied at Webster University for her M.A. degree in human resources development. PRESENTERSTed K. Austin is an OSHA compliance enforcement officer with the S.C. Department of Labor and safety instructor in the S.C. Technical College System. He is past-president of the S.C. Public Risk Management Association and has served on the National Public Risk Management Association Education Committee. He

received a B.S. in computer information systems/business management from Charleston Southern University and is a SLED-certified firearms and concealed weapons permit instructor.

Lisa Burbage received her bachelor’s in business administration from the College of Charleston and M.Ed. in higher education from The University of South Carolina. She has served in various leadership capacities for the College of Charleston Alumni Board, Young Alumni Board and School of Business, and Economics Alumni Board

and is currently a board member for the Charleston School of the Arts. She completed training as an integrative health coach at Duke University and is a local real estate broker.

Skip Evans is motorcycle site coordinator for Trident Technical College’s Motorcycle Safety training. He has been a certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation RiderCoach since 2005. He is also a SCDMV safety officer who is trained to administer the SCDMV Skills Test which he and other trained safety officers administer on weekends at Trident Tech. He is a 1970 graduate of

The Citadel, a former U.S. Air Force pilot, a retired airline captain and a licensed tour guide in downtown Charleston.

Lisa Fought is the director of programming for the Trident Technical College Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development. Through the years, she has held various positions in higher education management with an emphasis in enrollment management, faculty development and health care program management. She

holds a bachelor’s in applied health science from Indiana University and a master’s in adult education from Capella University. Lisa is married to Josh and has two sons.

Dr. Guy Ilagan resides in Charleston with his wife Jill and is a graduate programs faculty member at The Citadel. Guy, a licensed professional counselor, and Jill have a private counseling practice where Guy sees a few clients each year and offers training to counselors and nonprofit organizations. He received a B.S. in psychology from

the College of Charleston, M.Ed. in clinical counseling from The Citadel and Ph.D. in educational leadership from Clemson University.

Dr. Jill Ilagan lives with her husband, Guy, and their lively dog, Rosie, in Charleston. She has been in private practice in the area for the past seven years where she specializes in treating eating disorders. Since earning her doctorate in clinical psychology, she has worked at many of the local colleges in varying roles including therapist, adjunct

faculty and director of disabilities. Currently, she teaches as an adjunct in The Citadel’s Psychology – Clinical Counseling program.

Raymond A. Lloyd, an assistant chief with the Charleston Fire Department, received his associate degree in fire science from Columbia Southern University and B.S. in business from Chadwick University. He is an instructor with the National Safety Council, American Heart Association and S.C. Fire Academy and is a member

of the S.C. Firefighters’ Association, S.C. Firefighters Instructor Association, International Association of Arson Investigators and S.C. Fire Chiefs Association. Raymond is married with four children.

Jamey Mellis is one of Charleston’s leading IT, networking and security professionals. He is the President/CEO of Software Solutions and Designs, Inc. You may know him as “The Computer Guy” from Comcast and now exclusively each week on Tech Talk with Jamey Mellis, 1340 AM WCSC. Since 1992, he has been helping businesses

everywhere learn how to keep their networks and their data safe from outside influences.

JanuaryCreating a Healthy and Contented Workplace $99Presenters: Dr. Guy Ilagan, Dr. Jill Ilagan and Marianne Weinstein January is Weight Loss Awareness Month and also includes Healthy Weight Week and National Personal Trainer Awareness Day. This course includes strategies to provide, encourage and support a mentally and physically healthy work environment for your employees. OctoberEmployee Domestic Violence – Recognizing the Signs $99Presenter: Sharon Sellers S.C. ranks second in the nation for deaths due to domestic violence. It is a widely held misconception that domestic violence only happens to unemployed persons at home. In truth, it may occur to either gender, in all socioeconomic levels and it doesn’t always happen in the privacy of one’s home. What can we do as employers to try to prevent this violence from “spilling over” into the workplace? How can we identify and assist employees who may be victims of domestic violence? This session reviews the facts and offers recommendations for employers to create an action plan.
