The Official Newsletter for the 55+ Ministry of First Baptist Church Cookeville
A MINISTRY OF MIDDLE AND SENIOR ADULTS
May, 2015
When you receive this newsletter, we may be starting a new chapter in the life of our church. Isn’t it exciting! Let us continue to pray for our church.. May 3rd is Senior Day and I want to thank eve-ryone for recognizing the seniors of First Baptist Church. A lot of wisdom, learned over the years, can be shared by them. If you want to know some history of Cookeville, just talk to one who has lived here most of their life. Not only will they amaze you with what they learned about life, they will share with you the wisdom from God. Thank you Happy Tones for a great program on April 26th. What a blessing they are as they go sing at assisted living and other places. Let’s not forget the 55+ Picnic on May 23rd. Reservations are due by May 10th.. Frank Tittle and his crew are working diligently to make sure we enjoy a wonderful day. Happy Mother’s Day to ALL Moms. God Bless, Brenda
A gracious woman retains honor. Proverbs 11:16
Dear Friends, I look forward to our 55+ Senior Adult Day on Sunday, May 3rd. It will be a special day with our seniors leading in worship followed by a wonder-ful lunch! Thank you for using your gifts and tal-ents to serve God through the years and for continuing to be a vital part of the body of Christ. I love and appreciate you all! I look forward to our trip to The Cove and Billy Graham Library June 28 - 30. It’s going to be a fun time to share together. Be sure to sign up for “The Stone Mystery Trip” that will be in August. Don’t forget our 55+ picnic at Dogwood Park on Saturday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. This too will be a fun and enjoyable time. May 10th is Mother’s Day. Thank you Mothers and Grandmothers for your love, encouragement and Christ-like example! Godly Mothers truly impact our families and our world. God bless you all. Let’s remember to pray for our new pastor and his family as they come to lead us. Exciting days continue as we seek to follow Christ.
In Christian Love, Bill
MOTHER
You carved no shapeless marble To some high soul design; But with a finer sculpture
You shaped this soul of mine.
You built no great Cathedrals
That centuries applaud; But with a grace
exquisite Your life cathedraled

The Ultimate Sacrifice: A Memorial Day Poem We set aside Memorial Day
Each and every year
To honor those who gave their lives
Defending what we hold dear.
In all the dark and deadly wars,
Their graves prove and remind us,
Our brave Americans gave their all
To put danger far behind us.
They made the ultimate sacrifice
Fighting for the American way;
We admire and respect them
On every Memorial Day. By Joanna Fuchs

RESCUE MISSION
March 31, 2015, Bobby and Notie Moser, Jean Downey, Ruth Brown, Dor0thy Hawkins, Lillie Cantrell and Baslyn and Dale Helwig served dinner to 55 folks at the Rescue Mission. Notie and Ruth provided desserts and Baslyn provided the small cupcakes which everybody loved. We had all ages, several children and young folks. One lady we talked with was 25 years old from Louisiana. She shared that she had just written her first resume and as she plans for the future it would not have been possible to have come this far without the help of our Lord and Savior and she believed there was a purpose for her to be where she is now. It was very humbling. The program was about Easter and several partici-pated in readings, witness and prayer . Some of the folks at the mission volunteered to read Bible verses they had received with their Easter eggs and candy. Bobby gave the plan of salvation and prayed the sinners prayer to end a sweet service. There is someone providing this service the last Tuesday night of the month and if you would like to be a part of this mission see Brenda Boyington. I believe you will be a BLESSING as you are BLESSED.

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!
Finally a study that makes sense.
“The human brain appears to work slower in
old age,” said Dr. Michael Ramscar, “but
only because so much information has been
stored over time. Older people simply know
more, so selecting a correct choice from the
trove of stored data may take a bit longer.”
So there!!!! That’s my story
and I’m stickin’ to it.
