CIARAN O´HARE
Hi! I'm Ciaran, the teacher for Blue Class I. I was born in Brighton in England, a beautiful town by the sea. When I was a little girl I wanted to be an actress - I loved to be the centre of attention! But as I grew up and learnt more about myself I realised I would be much happier as a teacher.I love teaching! My heart is in this profession and I feel very lucky to be working with such lovely, bright children in this warm and supportive environment. Bumble Bee is a wonderful school with good resources and a kind and hard-working team. I'm proud to be a part of it. I am a warm and friendly person who will strive to make your children feel secure and supported as they learn and grow. I'm excited to be working with them!
Teaching young learners is like a performance every day! We sing and dance and use our bodies to express ourselves. We get to act like silly clowns and tell funny stories. I think it's important for children to feel entertained and excited about school because it means they are really engaged with learning. Besides singing and acting, my hobbies also include making crafts and I like to do a lot of this in class. Blue class is the time when the children focus on developing their fine motor skills and making crafts is the best way to do this. When they make something nice to take home with them, they feel a real sense of pride and accomplishment that helps to develop their confidence in their abilities.
What do I give to the children from my personality, from my principles?
One of the main things I feel I bring into the classroom is my creativity, and it's something I love to share with the children. I like to make creative art projects, sing songs and use dramatic play as part of the learning process and I hope that my enthusiasm will encourage the children to explore their creative sides, use the arts to express their feelings and individuality and pinpoint the areas in which they really excel. I also consider myself to be a sensitive and empathetic person. I show the children ways in which to articulate how they feel, through words or actions, and the importance of considering the feelings of their friends. I grew up with three sisters so a big lesson I like to teach my students is how to share, because we can have a lot more fun if everyone can play together!

School readiness: some useful information not
only for the parents of the kids from the green class The beginning of the school attendance means for the whole family a lot of new, important changes, hopes but
even doubts. But if the family prepares for the situation in advance, it can flee of them. Time of the school
registration into the 1st classes is coming and many of parents ask themselves, if their child is mature and prepared
for it. School readiness of preparedness is considered in this period November and December. So if you are also
waiting together with your kid to his first step into “big school”, you may appreciate some information about what
the school readiness is, and in which ways you can support her or him together with the preschool.
To prove readiness to school of the Czech speaking* children can help you to prove me as a school psychologist.
At first I will give or send you Agreement with School readiness examination and if you sign it, I will spend
approximately 90 minutes with your kid doing various exercises. Than you can learn more about if your boy or girl is
already prepared for the school, which tasks she or he handles well, in which he would need some more help, or if it
would be better for his or her well being, to wait with the school attendance even one more year.
Generally, we can say that a child needs to be mature physically, cognitively, socially, emotionally and needs
sufficient level of motivation. School readiness allows the kid to gain school skills and knowledge with success. The
kid should have sufficient capability to learn and to solve some problems.
So, if you have in connection with the school readiness or other sings of development of your child some
questions, we can discuss them in the days, when I am present in the school.
In the end I would like to wish you and your child to pass this period with delight and looking forward to new
experiences,

News from Petra’s Yellow class
Last month was full of traditions and magical surprises. In early December, St. Nicholas visited our
school and we got an advent calendar full of cookies from him. Simply because we are all just nice
and we don't know what „naughty“ means yet :-). Also we were not afraid of the devil, who
accompanied St. Nicholas, because we made a funny little devil from a roll of toilet paper.
All of our other projects - art, music and mathematics were about Christmas. In addition to
practising the songs we decorated a small paper tree which we sang the song "Oh, Christmas Tree"
about. It was also necessary to decorate our board a little bit to create a Christmas atmosphere
here at school, so we decorated a large paper tree with prints of foam pads and cork tops and
hang up our photos instead of Christmas ornaments. We also decorated Santa's socks and tried to
make the longest paper chain we could. We counted the Christmas pictures and played Christmas
memory games.
We wanted to enjoy the festive atmosphere of Advent with all the trimmings. We read the
Christmas story of Mary and Joseph and their journey to Bethlehem. We sang Christmas songs
with dancing and rhythmical instruments. We also had a pyjama day with fairy tales and gifts.
Wonderful Christmas time went slowly to its end, but we have something else to look forward to
again - this time to a new theme „World of Stories and Fairy Tales“ that will bring us some new
and interesting experience. We also hope for a lot of snow because snow battles in the garden are
the most fun.
Happy New Year 2016!

News from Oli’s Yellow class
December was as usual a very eventful month. The majority of our activities were closely related to
preparation for Christmas. We started out with St. Nicholas visit, who was accompanied by an angel
and a devil.
Shortly afterwards we had a unique opportunity to sing with a live band, Karmina, who played some
traditional Czech carols.
Than we had our own Christmas concert followed by a workshop, where children with their parents
made candle stands from apples decorated with dried fruit.
Pyjamas day gave us an opportunity to spend a day in Bumble Bee in a very laid- back atmosphere,
exchanging gifts, singing carols and watching short stories about Maisy the mouse.
Hope you all had your Christmas merry and I wish you a Happy New Year!

BB News Oliver’s Blue Class
This month in Blue Class II it has been extremely busy getting all ready for Christmas.
Our Christmas show and workshop with the parents was a really lovely day and I hope everyone enjoyed it. The Blue Class children worked so hard and I think they performed their songs and poem the best they have ever done it on the day it really mattered!
Earlier on in the month the children got into the festive spirit listening to a traditional Czech Music group singing carols. They also were so brave and polite when Mikolas, the Angel and the Devil came around to the classroom to ask them how well they had behaved this term. This month we also enjoyed getting festive with our artwork, decorating Santa Claus Art for our board and making our candles for the Christmas sale.
As we come to the end of term it’s clear the children are really beginning to gel together as a class and each one of them is becoming more confident at school and with using their English. You should be proud of how well the children have got on this term and lots of optimism for the new term. I will miss them all for sure.
All the best
Oliver

News from Ciaran's Blue class This month at Bumble Bee we celebrated Christmas! We decorated our
classroom with snowflakes, paper-chains, bunting and even made our
own Christmas tree. We had lots of fun using glitter and sequins to make
everything look sparkly and magical.
We worked very hard learning all of our Christmas songs and dances so
that we could give the parents a very special performance. I would like to
say a very big thank you to all of the families that attended our Christmas
workshop. All of the children really appreciated the opportunity to work
on a creative project with you.
As part of our Bethlehem theme, we went on a trip to the Agricultural
museum to see an exhibition of different nativity scenes from around the
world and from different times in history. It was very interesting. We also
enjoyed our annual Pyjama Party where we got to snuggle up and watch a
lovely Disney film called ‘Inside Out’.
We also spent some time on our academic work, learning about addition
and the letters of the alphabet. We continued our work on the Junior
Achievement project which we will be completing in January.
I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and I would like to wish all
of the children of my class and their families a very happy and successful
2016!
