KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3
Our Foundation/1/2 students have
made a very smooth transition back to
school. They have settled back into their school
routines and have adjusted to some new ways of
doing things. It was so good to finally have
students back on-site. They were so excited to be
back and restored playground noise at recess and
lunch. Schools should always have kids in them.
A big thank you to our families who have been
fantastic cooperating with our drop off and pick
up procedures as well as not entering the school
grounds.
Next Tuesday 9th June our Grades 3 to
6 students get to come back to school. We
can’t wait to have them on board and finally
restore some “new” normality to our school
community. If your child has borrowed a device
from school please ensure they return it to school
as they are required for classroom learning, once
they have been cleaned and re-connected to the
school network.
DROP OFF / PICK UP ARRANGEMENTS
Staff will greet students in the morning at the
roadside front fence and walk them into school
between 8.30am and 8.50am.
At the end of the day staff will walk students to
the front roadside fence for them to get into
their car. Parents/Carers parked on the other
side of the road will need to cross the road to
collect their child/ren.
Please do not stand around and socialise during
these times as we need this area to be a clear
and safe throughway.
Unwell Students & Staff
On advice from the Department, the
most important action school communities can
take to reduce the risk of transmission of
Coronavirus (COVID-19), is to ensure that any
unwell student or staff member must stay home
and seek medical advice. Please note: this is not
negotiable for the safety of all of our students
and staff.
Students experiencing compatible symptoms with
COVID-19 such as: fever, cough, sore throat,
runny nose or shortness of breath, will be isolated
in an appropriate space with suitable supervision.
The parent/carer will be contacted to come and
collect their child. Where a parent/carer cannot
be reached, the emergency contact will be
phoned to come and collect the student.
Updated Emergency Contact Information
If your child becomes unwell at school, he or she
must go home as quickly as possible. I
understand that many of you are returning to
work and that it may be difficult for you to leave
work to collect him or her. Therefore, we need to
know an alternative contact who can collect your
child. We still have only received a handful of
forms, this information is vital.
Please ensure this information is emailed or
brought back to school by Tuesday 9th June.
2021 Foundation Enrolments are now
open. Letters and enrolment forms have
been sent home with siblings to younger
brothers and sisters who will be joining the
K.C.P.S. team next year. We actually have 11
Foundations already from our siblings cohort
which is fantastic. As I mentioned in last week’s
newsletter, promoting K.C.P.S. to potential new
families is going to be different this year.

Mr Zito, Mrs Opie and I have started to create a short video showcasing our school with photos and input from our students. This will be posted on our FB page and website.
The best promotion of our school is word of mouth and the positive talk from our current and past families. I am asking you
for your help by encouraging your friends and family members who are looking at enrolling in a Primary School in 2021 to give me a call to share what Kialla Central has to offer their child/ren.
We have postponed our Curriculum Day that was scheduled for this Friday 5th June. Therefore, it will now be a normal school day for all students. It will be the last day of Flexible and Remote Learning for our Grade 3 to 6 students.
A reminder that Monday 8th June is a public holiday for the Queen’s Birthday.
Mr Zito, Miss Posteraro, Miss Baker and Mrs Moulsdale have started to write their
reports. As shared in last week’s newsletter, our reports will be quite different and will include: - a five point scale on behaviour and effort; - comments about English, Maths and how students adjusted to the remote and flexible learning environment; and - Extra Curricula Activities from Term 1.
A MESSAGE FROM MRS MOULSDALE ~ F/1 You may have noticed that I have not been sending home take home readers. This will be a week by week decision. We are using books in the classroom as it is a controlled environment with strict hand hygiene. To support your child’s learning you can do the following: * Those with access to a device can still use the PMeCollection for reading practise each night. * Foundation homework ~ Read the sentence of the week and word list EVERY night. * Grade One homework ~ Write your spelling words out EVERY night. * Many students also have the alphabet chart and common words grid. Learning the alphabet letters and sounds, as well as key common words are essential skills to a child’s success as a reader.
KCPS Footy Tipping Competition is back! Bomber 10 has been working on the new look AFL Footy Tipping Competition. Refer to attached information. Thanks Bomber 10 and Mrs O for distributing and tracking the Footy Tipping sheets.
Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Service If you need to access OSHC please ensure you have confirmed the days you require. Thank you to those parents/carers who have already done this. Alternatively, please let us know if you don’t require your booking. This allows others to access OSHC and assists with catering.
Our OSHC Service is also adhering to the strict Return to School Guidelines from DET. Thank you to our families who have been supporting our new pick up arrangements it is greatly appreciated. One of the Federal Government’s current COVID-19 stimulus packages is for childcare and services such as OSHC. Fees for these services have been waived until the end of June. As a result, families will not receive an account for accessing OSHC between 26th May and 26th June 2020. However, families with outstanding fees must pay their account by Friday 12th June. These ac-counts are overdue as payment was required by the end of March.
Welcome back to Erin Scott (past student) who is assisting with the extra
cleaning that is required to be undertaken during the day.

K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2020
Talking Footy with Bomber 10
Round 1 Wrap
Well the AFL did start the season on time but under very unusual conditions. It
is very strange watching the footy without a crowd but at least we did get round
underway.
On Thursday night the Tigers took on the Blues at the home of footy the MCG.
The Tigers played where they left off the 2019 season. The Blues were able to
claw back the margin in the second half of the game but it was not enough and
the Tigers were the winners by 24 point.
Friday night the Bulldogs played the Magpies at Marvel Stadium where the
Magpies got off to a great start. The Bulldogs were are able to draw beck the
margin a little but they were never going to win the game. The Magpies won out
the winners by 52 points. It was also great to see KCPS’s own Alex Keath play his
first game for the Bulldogs and was in the top four players for the Bulldogs.
The Bombers and Fremantle did battle at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon
where the Bombers had a 6 points win over the Dockers. The Bombers had a
great start to the game but they let the Dockers back in, in the second half of the
game.
The Adelaide Crows and the Sydney Swans played their game at the Adelaide
Oval on Saturday afternoon where the Sydney Swans were able to hang on and
win the game by the margin of 3 points.
The Giants took on the Cats at Giants Stadium in Sydney on Saturday evening
where the Giants continued their great form (except for the Grand Final last
year) when they defeated the Cats by 32 points.
To complete the Saturday games the Suns played the Power at Metricon Stadium
where the Power were much too good for the Suns defeating them by 47 points.
On Sunday afternoon the Kangaroos and the Saints did battle at Marvel Stadium
where the Kangaroos hung on to defeat the Saints by 2 points.
The Hawks and the Lions did battle at the MCG where the Hawks defeated the
Lions by 28 points.
To complete round one the Eagles played the Demons over in the west at Optus
Stadium where the Eagles defeated the Demons by 24 points.
Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – for Round 1 was ~ Tiger Trouble who tipped all
9 correct. I believe that this might be the first time anyone has ever tipped all 9
correct in the first round of the footy season. There were 12 tippers who tipped 8
correct. Well done to all these tippers.
Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders ~ at the completion of Round 1 are: Tiger Trouble
on 9, 12 tippers who tipped 8 (too many to mention) and 16 tippers who tipped 7.
Well done to all.
Congratulations to Tiger Trouble who has won the Jackpot of $26:00

YEAH THE FOOTY IS BACK!
The countdown is on as the Footy will recommence on
Thursday 11th June when Magic Magpie’s and Pie Time’s Magpies
take on Mrs. “O’s” Tigers at the home of footy the MCG.
It seems like forever since Round 1was played. The 2020 season will
be like no other season we have ever seen before. The AFL has
released the draw for Round 2 to Round 5 and will release more
rounds in three weeks time.
There will only be 17 Rounds of footy played this season which
means each team will only play each other once before the finals
commence. Each win will mean even more this year. It will be
interesting to see how this plays out.
So what does this mean for the K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition?
The cost is for the season is now $17.00.
If you have already paid in full ($23) you have 2 options:
1. donate the extra $6 to the school ~ thank you very much!
2. see Lisa about getting a refund.
Full payment is required for all tippers by Round 3.
Round 2 Tipping sheets will be sent home next Tuesday 9th June
and must be back by Thursday 11th June by 9.00am
The Jackpot will be at $26.00
