About the VCU Department of Neurology ResearchThe Department of Neurology has established active clinical and basic scienceresearch programs to study major diseases within the neurosciences. Research efforts are focused in five main areas: stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, headache, and Parkinson's Disease. In addition, the department has active collaborations with trauma and drug addiction groups

Clinical ServicesThe Department of Neurology provides comprehensive consultation, evaluation and management of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous and neuromuscular systems of adults and children. The department has four divisions: adult, child, neuro-ophthalmology, and neurophysiology.

Course DescriptionVirginia Commonwealth University Medical Center presents a distinguished faculty from epilepsy centers and neurophysiology laboratories across the country in the 39th Annual commemoration of Hans Berger’s birthday. The goal of the symposium is to offer physicians, technologists and medical professionals practical information in applying state-of-the-art electrodiagnostic testing in the clinical management of patients with epilepsy and related disorders. Educational objectives for each presentation are listed under each topic to be presented in the schedule.

Accreditation and Credit University Health Services Professional Education Programs (UHS-PEP) of Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

UHS-PEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits (TM) (11.25 hours without the optional EEG Review Session). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists has granted ASET Continuing Education (ACE) credits for this program. Such crediting, however, should not be construed by program participants as an endorsement of any type of instruments or supplies mentioned or involved in these presentations.

This continuing education activity meets the criteria of Virginia Commonwealth University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 1.3 CEUs will be awarded and recorded with the University.
