four decades. With the death of Peacock in the 1970’s, the band eventually disbanded before being resurrected
five years ago by some of the original members and talents and energy of new members, The OSB has re-
emerged as a new and enthusiastic force in the brass band community. Along with performances, the band
administers two youth scholarship funds and recently established the Orillia Silver Youth Band to expose a new
generation of players to the brass band genre.
Maple Leaf Brass Band is proud to continue its Festival of Brass tradition of programming all Canadian works
by some of Canada’s finest composers and arrangers including E.F. Lloyd Hiscock and Robert Farnon. This
year the MLBB is especially pleased to welcome Howard Cable, distinguished composer, conductor, arranger
and Order of Canada recipient to conduct his own arrangement of the traditional Scots Wha Ha’e at Festival of
Brass. Music Director David Druce looks forward to the opportunity to showcase Canadian works. “It is great
to be able to promote the work of these Canadian composers to a broader audience”
