Our Mission calls us to live and share the teachings of the Catholic Church by creating a compassionate atmosphere which develops faith, service, and academic excellence.

It’s time for our annual Lenten Penny Drive! For many, many years HA has supported Children Helping Children, which is a ministry of the School Sisters of St. Francis. This program promotes global awareness and social justice worldwide—check out their video! Beginning Monday, all of our students will have the opportunity to participate in a penny drive that will benefit children in need. Students can deposit pennies (or dollars) in a container in their classroom. We encourage you to have your children do something such as an extra chore to “’earn” the money they give. Thank you in advance for your encouragement and support of this Lenten project!

Clubs, activities, & student news ...

Do you have other club, service, or student news? Please share news or congratulations with [email protected]! Thank you!

Congratulations to Abraham Panichikudiyil, who was accepted to MUHS and received the President’s Magis Scholarship for being a top entrance exam tester!

Four boys in Pack 93 have earned their 2018 Religious Award! This program requires the scout and their family

to complete a guided book that is above and beyond their Den and Pack Meeting obligations. The Light of Christ program is designed to bring 1st & 2nd grade boys into a more personal relationship with Jesus.

Congratulations to: Nicholas Leising and Luke Mascari for earning this award!! The Parvuli Dei (Children of God) program for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade boys focuses on service and it's value to others and yourself. This program not only requires the scout and family to complete the book, but the scout and their parent must also meet with Fr. Don and make a banner symbolizing what they learned in the program.

Congratulations to: Alexander Thomas and Thomas Smith for earning this award!! The medals will be blessed at the 9:15 am mass on Sunday, March 4. Great job boys!

Thank you to the middle school families who served Monday night at the St. Vincent DePaul Meal Program! We appreciate all of the families who have supported this great program over the years.

Congratulations to Katrina Hubacek and Naomi Nitka who won third place in the St. Dominick's Forensics meet in Group Interpretation!

Athletics news ...

Holy Apostles 5th Grade Girls Basketball Team finished in 2nd place at the 2018 St. Thomas Aquinas Basketball Tournament.! Team members are Sofia Gaulke, Molly Burke, Marin Kosidowski, Megan Gilpin, Alexis Kwiatkowski, Payton Kutmas, Ariana Kukec, Lucy Gratz, Jasmin Nguyen, Maria Sundararajan, and Annabelle Shaw. The 5th grade Chargers are coached by Reene Gratz, Lisa Kukec, Jessica Akin, and Rebekah Gratz. Great job team!

Athlete of the Week—Katie Stomma! 8th Grade Katie shoots 3-pointers better than anyone on the 8th grade girls team and already has over ten 3-pointers this season. However, Katie is the Athlete of the Week due to her outright hustle. She gives 110% on every play and pushes as hard as she can in every drill, practice, and every play of every game. Katie does this all with a big smile that just came free of her braces! Parents or coaches - know an athlete that works hard? Every week, we would like to showcase an athlete who consistently com-petes with great work ethic, team work, goal setting, and a commitment toward individual responsibility and team growth. Share their story with us ([email protected]) using the subject line, “Athlete of the Week Submission”!

Track Registration—It's time to start thinking about the next HA sports season! Track registration (http://www.hanbschool.org/

athletics) is now open for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The early registration deadline is March 31st and the final registration deadline is April 30th (extra $10 fee will be assessed for registrations received after March 31st). The track season will begin in mid- to late-March and run through the end of the school year. Please contact our Track Coordinator Jim Ganzer with any questions ([email protected]) about the track season or Chris Ques-nell ([email protected]) with any registration-related questions.

Athletic Board Membership—We are looking for new members to add to the Athletic Board as we will be losing some fami-

lies with 8th grade graduates. We welcome any parish families, but we especially want to invite current 4th grade families who will have children entering 5th grade next school year. We would like to get about 8 incoming 5th grade families on the board as we enter next year. Please consider coming to one of our monthly meetings this spring (March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11 - Room 155 at 6:45 pm) to learn more, or contact Adam Roder ([email protected]) to ask any questions or to discuss. When on the Athletic Board, you do get the added benefits of (1) your family gets free admission to home volleyball and basketball games, and (2) no concessions / ad-missions duty during volleyball or basketball season!

Upcoming Games—We invite families with younger students to come to a home game and see what HA basketball is all

about. Please come out to cheer on the following HA teams in our gym: Thursday Feb 15th: 7th grade girls tournament games at 5:15, 6:15, 7:15 and 8:15 Saturday Feb 17th: League games at 9:00 (5th grade girls), 10:00 (5th grade boys), and 11:00 (6th grade boys) Sunday Feb. 18th: League games at 12:00 noon (7th grade girls), 1:00 (6th grade girls), and 2:00 (6th grade boys) 4th grade families - this is a great way to learn more about HA basketball and get ready for your soon-to-be 5th graders!

Introducing: Family Discipleship! For the past year, our parish and school have been working on ways to collaborate and assist all of our children, youth, and families as they continue to grow in their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. Next year, we will be offering an amazing opportunity to focus on family discipleship. Each month, families will have the opportunity to come together to participate in activities that assist in developing the habits of discipleship. Parents will also be provided tools to help their family to continue to practice our Catholic faith at home. In preparation for this change, we would like to invite you to experience this new look at Family Discipleship on Sunday, March 4th, 2018. The attached a flyer includes more information and a link that will allow you to RSVP for the event. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Teresa Tobin, Rachel Madden, or Melissa Trepte.
