Please make out checks to the Hamilton County Junior Livestock Assoc. (HCJLA) for all entries.
Please note that check in and weigh in times for all livestock has changed! A complete buyers listing will be available shortly after the Livestock Show. The buyers and other donors for the Hamilton County Youth Fair are the reason that the show has been so successful in past years and it is important that all exhibitors express their appreciation to these individuals and businesses. The Livestock Show Board of Directors encourages exhibitors, parents, and advisors to let these donors know how important they are to the Show. It is also important that exhibitors follow through with their written thank you notes in a timely manner following the Show. Premium Sale Add-Ons: There will be no minimum for add-ons however there will be a minimum amount of $50 PER EXHIBITOR, to have a contributor’s name announced during the sale, and ALL ADD-ONS MUST BE PAID IN FULL AND PRIOR TO BEGINNING OF SALE.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Hamilton County Livestock Association in an effort to encourage higher education of our youth will present scholarships to graduating students each spring. The dollar amount and number of scholarships given will be determined by the scholarship committee. Applicants must have participated in at least three county shows during their high school years including their senior year. Applicants must also compete and file a scholarship application by the announced deadline and attend an institution of higher learning following graduation. Criteria will be available through FFA / FCCLA or 4-H Advisors. The deadline for scholarship applications is Dec. 4th, 2015. The application is attached to the end of the rule book. If you have any questions contact a HCLA board member or an Advisor. We will announce the recipients during the Youth Fair Auction.

General Rules and Regulations for Hamilton County Youth Fair
January 6 – 9, 2016
A. GENERAL RULES 1. Eligibility – All participants must be a member of a Hamilton County 4-H Club or the Hamilton, Hico or Evant FFA, JR FFA, FCCLA Chapters. Members must be in the 3rd grade to the 12th grade and may not be older than 19 years of age as of show date. A student that is considered academically ineligible by their school district at show time SHALL NOT SHOW NOR SHALL HIS/HER ENTRY BE SHOWN. Home schooled youth must show proof at show date of passing grades. Proof of compliance with this requirement may be required. 2. Residency - Participants must * attend public or private school in Hamilton County or * live in a Hamilton, Hico or Evant ISD. (A child’s residence of divorced parents is determined by the county of residence of the custodial parent.) * Home schooled participants will be counted as part of the district in which they reside; however, if the last public school in which a member of the family was enrolled was Hamilton, Hico, or Evant ISD and they are members of Hamilton County 4-H Club, then they shall meet the residency requirement. Participants transferring into a qualifying district after validation or entry deadline dates but before show must be in good standing with their former club or chapter and meet all other requirements of this show. Proof of compliance with the residency requirement may be required. 3. Age Groups - Age groups for Home Economics division and showmanship for Livestock division are as follows: Pee Wee / Clover Kids: 4 years old – 2nd grade Junior Division: 3rd grade – 13 years old Senior Division: 14-19 years old 4. Exhibitor Responsibility - All exhibited animals must be under the care of the exhibitor. All items in the home economics area, MUST HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY EXHIBITOR. Any entry found to be in violation of this rule will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the judges. 5. Entry Deadline – December 1, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. to either FFA Advisor or the Hamilton County Extension Office. All participants must complete and turn in the entry forms attached to FCCLA, FFA teachers or County Agents prior to the deadline. Any entry, Livestock or Home Economics Division, that does not include the required information will be considered incomplete and not a valid entry. All entry forms must be submitted with the necessary entry fee. 6. Entry Form Each entry form will contain the following statement to be signed by the Exhibitor:
I have read the rules of the Hamilton County Youth Fair and agree to abide by the rules as stated. I represent that I am in compliance with all rules including eligibility. I release the Show, directors, officers,

volunteers, superintendents and judges from any loss, damage, or injury to my person, animals, or property. I understand that in the case of scholastic ineligibility, I will not be able to show nor will my animal/project be shown.
7. Liability All exhibitors will be under the control and direction of the Hamilton County Livestock Association but the Association and its member and volunteers will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and each exhibitor will be solely responsible for any damage or loss suffered by him/her or anyone else as a result of his/her actions. 8. Dress Code-All exhibitors will be required to follow this dress code when entering the show ring and premium sale ring. Exhibitors are encouraged to dress appropriately at all times. Each superintendent will be responsible for enforcing the code. The dress code includes:
A. Shirts will have sleeves and collars and be tucked in-no midriff shirts. B. Spaghetti straps are not allowed unless another shirt is worn underneath or over. C. Extreme holes or slashes in jeans/pants are not allowed. D. Baggy jeans/pants are not allowed. E. Jeans/pants worn above the hip bone. F. Jeans/pants will be hemmed at the bottom. G. No caps. Cowboy hats are allowed. H. Open-toe shoes are not allowed. I. Visible tattoos are not allowed. J. Male exhibitors must be clean shaven. K. Males may not wear any ornamental jewelry on their ears. By the same token, both
genders are not allowed to wear any visible piercing ornaments on the nose, eyebrow, or tongue.
L. Hair must meet school dress code. 9. Conduct
A. Any exhibitor, parent, or other individual who shows disrespect or interferes with any show official
or judge:
A-1. Person(s) will be asked to leave the fairgrounds by the show superintendent or
their agent.
Should the person(s) in question refuse to leave, law enforcement will be called
and they will escort the person(s) from the fairgrounds.
Person(s) will not be allowed to return to the grounds until a formal, written
apology is made by the person(s) to the show official or judge that the incident was
directed against.
Should the person be an exhibitor, any judging classes that are missed as a result
of their removal from the grounds will be forfeited by the exhibitor.
Should the person be an exhibitor, any prizes or monies won will be forfeited should
they refuse to make apology.
Should a second incident from the person(s) occur at any point in time following
the first incident, person(s) will barred from current show and the show in the next
year.
Should a third incident occur from the person(s) occur at any point in time following

the second incident, person(s) will be permanently barred from the show.
Person(s) who have been removed from the show because of an incident may
appeal to the board of directors at the first Hamilton County Youth Fair meeting
following the show where the incident occurred. The board will hear the side of the
show superintendent and the complainant and rule on the incident. Board ruling
will be final with no further appeal.
Should the board rule in favor of the complainant, any suspensions from the show
will be revoked.
Should the person(s) involved in the incident be an exhibitor and their appeal is
Upheld by the board, all prizes and monies that were earned will be restored if
possible.
B. Exhibitors, parents, or their agents are strictly prohibited to make improper contact with any judge
for the Hamilton County Youth Fair until the judging of their entries is completed. Should any exhibitor,
parent, or their agent make improper contact with the judge before they have completed judging, their
entries will be immediately disqualified. Should a second incident of improper contact with a judge ever
occur again at any point in time by the exhibitor or by anyone acting on their behalf, exhibitor will be
permanently barred from the show. Exhibitors, parents, or their agents may appeal to the Hamilton County
Youth Fair any suspensions as a result of improper contact with judges. The board’s ruling will be final
with no further appeals.
C. Any exhibitor, parent, or their agent who engages in “bullying” another exhibitor either written,
verbally, or with the use of body language will be subject to the same penalties as outlined in rule 9A.
10. Premium Sale –
a. Eligible Sale Entries -- The following entries are eligible for the premium sale: Minimum of 3 head per division for the entries to be eligible for premium sale. Top 75% of each class of market lambs, market goats, market hogs, and all breeding classes Top 75% of each class of poultry and rabbits Grand and Reserve Champions in the Home Economics Division Qualifying sale order steers – After judging of classes, steer exhibitors must bring back one steer per exhibitor for placement in the sale order. No more than 75% of the total number of steers in the Show will be in the premium sale. There will be no bumping. Please see attached form for auction breakdown. (For these purposes, numbers will be rounded up to the next whole number when the decimal is 50% or better.) b. Exhibitors – Each exhibitor may sell only one entry in the premium sale. Exhibitors wishing to sell an entry in the premium sale or to sell an animal on the floor price must let the Show Manager know no later than 10:00 am on the final day of the show. If judging is not completed at this time, the Show Superintendent may extend the time. Late premium sale entries will be charged a late fee of $50.00. Exhibitors must appear in the sale ring at

their scheduled time on sale night unless an approved substitute is present pursuant to Livestock Rule 6. All Premium Sale exhibitors must report to the show grounds for set up before the show or clean up on Sunday after the show. Failure to do so will result in a fine of $100.00 being deducted from their premium check. c. Commission – A 7% commission fee will be charged on all items sold through the Premium Sale and the floor bid process. This commission is the responsibility of the exhibitor. d. Thank You – All premium sale exhibitors must send approved thank you cards to all buyers of their entries and award sponsors. The Thank You cards must be turned in to the exhibitor’s supervising agent or teacher with proper postage and address. Supervisors will mail all thank you cards. Award and sale proceeds will be distributed to the supervisors or teachers. IF THE THANK YOU CARD IS NOT TURNED INTO THE APPROPRIATE PERSON WITHIN 60 DAYS OF THE PREMIUM SALE, THE FUNDS WILL BE FORFEITED AND DEPOSITED INTO THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND. e. Home Economic Sales – Exhibitors selling a food item must furnish a freshly made item for the sale for delivery to the buyers. Non-food items should be cleaned and presented in an attractive manner.
11.PROTESTS. The judge’s and superintendent’s decisions are final. Any formal protest must be made in writing. The written protest must cite the rule in question. The protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $150 cash, which will be refunded only if the protest is upheld. Protests must be made within 30 minutes following that species Champion selection.” Judging will not be interrupted for protest investigation. All protests must be tendered to the Show Superintendent. Any protest must include a written explanation of all efforts to resolve the protest with the division superintendent. The Show Superintendent, with the assistance of the division superintendents, will determine all protests. The Show Superintendent’s decisions will be final. 12. Alcohol Ban – No alcohol shall be consumed at the show site during the show. At the discretion of the Show Superintendent, any person present that appears to be intoxicated will be asked to leave the premises. 13. Superintendents’ Authority – All exhibits, projects and animals will be under the control and guidance of the respective superintendents who have the right to reclassify any entry if they feel it is in the best interest of the entry. It is the superintendents’ decision to excuse any animal from the ring for an unruly animal and to enforce the dress code. It is the superintendents’ decision to reject any home economics entry that does not qualify for the show. Superintendents for each show will be elected at the April meeting preceding the show. All superintendents must be in good standing with the Association by April 1st. They will not be in good standing if they owe any money to the Association or the Show or any buyer pools. If they are not in good standing, they can and will be replaced at the next meeting.

B. LIVESTOCK RULES 1. County Validation. All market animals, including market steers, market swine, market sheep and market goats, must be brought in to the location selected by the Superintendents and properly validated on the validation schedule for the species as follows: All breeding entries must have either registration papers in the exhibitor’s name, or be validated according to the dates below. December 15 All entries must be owned, on feed, in the possession of, and in the care of the exhibitor by these dates. Animals may be validated in family names rather than individual exhibitor names on validation day. Final interpretation and decision will be at the Show Superintendent’s discretion. All broilers and turkeys will be ordered from the same source at the same time through the vocational teachers or County Extension Agent. Any swine barrows that might want to participate in the prospect show must be validated and have a state validation tag. 2. Entry Fees - All entry fees will be $20.00. No entry fee will be refunded. 3. Entry Forms – All exhibitors will complete the entry form attached hereto as Exhibit A. At entry date, each child within the family must present completed entry forms with the name of the individual, club, and animal information included. Market Swine, Sheep, and Goats will be classified at weigh in. 4. Late Fees - Late entries will be accepted until animal weigh-in and classification on the Thursday of the show. An additional $50.00 late fee will be assessed for each entry tendered after the December 1, 2015, deadline. If animals are reclassified or substituted within a family pursuant to these rules, corrections will be made at weigh-in. 5. Class breakdown- In all market departments, exhibitors may enter a maximum of four animals in each department with no more than two animals in any one class. There will be no limit on breeding classes, except no more than two entries per person per class. All entries in the breeding Sheep, Goat, Swine, Cattle show must be female. Exhibitors with more than one entry in a class must have the other entry shown by another eligible exhibitor. Exhibitors with only one entry in a class must show that entry themselves unless they are ill and cannot be present to show. In classes where there is no competition for champion, the banner may be awarded if the animal is worthy in the sole discretion of the judge. All judge’s decisions are final. 6. Check In/Out- Entries must arrive and be in place by designated time on show schedule. Animals will be weighed in at the direction of the Show Superintendent. Substitutions may be made within the family at weigh in, but no child will be allowed to show more animals than he or she entered. Ownership must be designated before the animal

leaves the scales, after which, no changes may be made. Exhibitors or a representative of the family will be present at weigh in to designate ownership, and verify association membership i.e. FFA, 4-H. There will only be one re-weigh allowed per animal no exceptions, re-weighs will only be allowed if you are overweight/underweight. Weigh in cards will be held and filled in by the appropriate department superintendent or designee. All animals found to be sick, diseased, or below show quality may be removed from the show grounds at the direction of the sifting committee. All livestock superintendents will serve as the sifting committee. The committee will have the discretion to remove any objectionable exhibit. Animals will not be released from the show grounds until the show is over on Saturday or at the direction of the General Superintendent. (Exception: lactating dairy cows and lactating dairy goats only may arrive before show time on Saturday). Rabbits and poultry will be released at the direction of the Rabbit and Poultry Superintendent. Due to limited pen space, breeding goats and breeding sheep must arrive on Thursday afternoon by 6:00 pm and must go home after the show Thursday night. The Overall Grand Champion Market Animal and Reserve Grand Champion Market animal of each species will be asked to remain and be present, along with their exhibitor, for the premium sale Saturday evening. 7. Substitutions – The participant who claimed ownership of the animal at weigh in/classification/check in must show the animal in the ring and be present for the premium sale unless: * The participant has two animals in the same class. Another exhibitor can show the second animals. The owner will show one of the animals and must try to enter the show ring before his/her substitute. * Another UIL school sponsored event is taking place at the same time and the exhibitor must be present. Another exhibitor can show the animals. * The exhibitor is sick. Another exhibitor can show the animals. * There is a close death/major illness in the family. * At least 10 days in advance of the show, participant has received the Show Superintendent’s permission for another exhibitor to show the animal. This decision is at the Show Superintendent’s discretion and will not generally be granted. Substitution will not be allowed because the animal is unruly or the exhibitor is scared. This is no excuse.
8. Showmanship-A showmanship award will be presented to the Junior and Senior Exhibitor chosen as demonstrating the best showmanship in each division. Divisions include sheep, goat, swine, beef, rabbit, and poultry. Showmanship will be a separate class for each species. There is a $5 entry fee and all money will go to the winner of each division. 9. Pee/ Wee Clover Kid Show- A Pee Wee Showmanship division will be conducted in the sheep and swine divisions. Awards will be given to winners in this division. Exhibitors can only show in one category. All exhibitors’ parents must sign a release of liability. If an exhibitor is younger than 5 years of age, a parent or guardian over the age of 18 must accompany them in the ring during the show. 10. Bedding – All exhibitors must provide their own bedding. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to clean out the pen after the animal has left the show. The Exhibitor is required to take the used materials to the designated area. A penalty will be assessed if the pen is not cleaned. The Show Superintendent has the authority to deduct the penalty which cannot exceed $100 from any award or premium sale check.

11. Award – At least 10 pens or exhibits must be entered in a market class before a buckle will be awarded. (Previous years’ entries will determine if a buckle is ordered.) 12. Special Awards – a. Herdsman – This award is presented to a Senior and a Junior exhibitor in the Show for overall outstanding characteristics that make this individual unique and leaves a lasting impact on all participants. The recipients are chosen by the 4H agents and FFA advisors at the discretion. Awards will be given to the exhibitor best representing each of the following: Evant FFA, Hamilton FFA, Hamilton County 4-H, and Hico FFA b. Jeff Fox Memorial Award – Market steer exhibitor selected on best overall job of showmanship and presentation of the steer. c. Jayson Harris Memorial Award – Beef heifer exhibitors only selected on overall presentation of the animal and knowledge of the beef heifer project. d. Cattleman’s Award in Honor of Gayland Stephens – The recipient of this award must exhibit the finest overall qualities including - outstanding in his/her fitting, herdsmanship, showmanship, sportsmanship, knowledge of the animal and knowledge of their division. - very well-mannered in interactions with the judge(s) and show personnel, and someone with high standards at all times. - exemplify qualities of a good cattleman through great care for their animal, personally grooming and caring for the animal, and in depth knowledge of the breed and its uses.
- perform at an outstanding level in all areas and demonstrate a good spirit with all others.
The recipient will be chosen by the judge with input from the show superintendents and the Stephens’ family members (when available). e. Melissa Green Memorial Award – This award is to an exhibitor demonstrating hard work and effort without regard to the placing of the animals. The FFA advisors, 4H leaders and County Agents may nominate exhibitors of market lambs for this award based on their efforts, knowledge of their lamb, and personal involvement in its care. The award is presented by Sue Green. f. Jennifer Hall Memorial Award – In honor of Jennifer’s love for the Show and the fitting and showing of her lambs, Sandy and Roseanne Hall present this award to the exhibitor with the best fitted lamb in the market show. 13. Unethically Fitted Livestock. The showing of unethically fitted livestock is prohibited. Unethical fitting shall be deemed to consist of any method altering the natural confirmation of any part of the animal.

Division Steer
Class 01 Steers
1. All market beef animals will be shown by weight with as equal classes as possible.
2. Steers must weigh a minimum of 900 lbs. to be eligible for the show.
3. The heifer and steer show would be considered “Blow & Go”, meaning no glues,
adhesives or paint would be allowed in fitting the animals.
Division Heifers
Class 02 Heifers
1. Heifers must be registered with a registration certificate issued by the breed association OR have a
breeder affidavit signed for the date of birth and be tagged at validation on or before October 31st prior to
the show and not more than three years old as of September 1st prior to the show; will be able to show with
or without calf at side.
2. Heifers will be shown by breed groups. A champion and reserve heifer in each breed division with an
overall champion and overall reserve champion.
A. English Breeds (Hereford, Angus, Shorthorn, Polled Hereford, Red Angus, etc.)
B. American Breeds (Brahman, Beefmaster, Santa Gertrudis, etc.)
C. Exotics (Limousin, Maine, Anjou, Chianina, Simmental, Charolais, etc.)
If numbers warrant, they will be broken into classes by date of birth.

1. Objective – To highlight the commercial cattle industry and provide 4-H and FFA members a learning
experience emphasizing selection, record keeping, feeding, animal health, industry standards, public
speaking and technical knowledge.
2. Entry – each junior exhibitor may enter one pen of two (2) steers. One steer may constitute a pen;
however, it will result in an immediate deduction of 20 points. Replacement steers will NOT be accepted.
3. Ownership – Steers of any beef breed are eligible to be entered in this show. Exhibitors in this division
must have owned their steers on or before September 15, the year preceding the show. And the steers must
have been fed and cared for by the exhibitor from the date of acquisition throughout the Commercial Steer
Show.
4. Weighing – Weights will be calculated as follows
Initial Weight – Steers must be individually weighed between September 6-15, 2014 on a certified
livestock scale by a certified weigh master. This weight will be the “initial weight for the feeding
record. The official scale ticket should include: weight date, individual animal weight, animal
identification (i.e. ear tag, brand), breeder of the animal, buyer of the animal, signature of the
certified weigh master. The official scale ticket should be retained and submitted with the record
book upon arrival of the Hamilton County Youth Fair.
Record Weight – Steers must be officially weighed, individually, on a certified livestock scale by a
certified weigh master, between December 26, 2014 – January 2, 2015. This weight will be the
“record weight” for the feeding records. The official scale ticket should include: weigh date,
individual animal weight, animal identification (i.e. ear tag, brand), and signature of the certified
weight master. The official scale ticket should be retained and submitted with the Record Book upon
arrival of the Hamilton County Youth Fair.
Check In / Sale Weight – Each steer must weigh-in between 1,000 and 1,350 lbs. Failure to comply
will result in point deductions (see point breakdown). There will be NO reweighs.

5. Record Books – Exhibitors must maintain an official San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Commercial Steer
Record Book including feeding, animal health, income and expense record regarding their commercial Steer
project. An Official Commercial Steer Record Book may be obtained at www.sarodeo.com. The Official
S.A.L.E. Commercial Steer Record Book must be completed and submitted upon arrival at the show. All
receipts and related records must be attached. Record books must be complete, neat and accurate.
Exhibitors must submit their Record Book for judging in person. All calculations are to be rounded to the
hundredth decimal from the beginning of the project.
6. Live Visual Evaluation – Junior Commercial Steers visually evaluated based on the USDA quality and
yield grades for slaughter steers. Steers must be presented for live visual evaluation.

8. Public Speaking/ Questions – Each exhibitor must recite a memorized speech lasting a minimum of three
(3) minutes and a maximum of five (5) minutes regarding their project, what they learned and how it relates
to the industry. There will be a point deduction of ¼ point per fifteen (15) seconds the exhibitor is shorter or
longer than the allotted speech limit. Each exhibitor will be required to answer verbal question regarding
their commercial steer project following delivery of their speech.
9. Beef Science Test – Exhibitors will be administered a written, Beef Science Test. Only exhibitors may
enter the test area. Study Guide links will be available online at the Official San Antonio Stock Show &
Rodeo internet site www.sarodeo.com. The Beef Science Test will be composed of questions derived from this
Study Guide and other sources.
10. Horns – Steers must have horns tipped with no more than three inches of horn growth beyond the base of
the head.

member can only sell one project in the premium sale. For Example: A 3 person Team makes the premium
sale with their ag mechanics project, and one of the members decides to sell their steer project instead, the
sale money would be split between the remaining two team members.

Home Economics Division
Home Economics entries will follow the general rules of the show as well as the following rules. Entry fees
should be made out to Home Ec. Buyers. All Home Economics entries from every club/school must be
turned in to the extension office by December 1, 2014 with advisor’s signature.
It is highly recommended that all Home Economics items be covered with transparent plastic wrap.
(Your items will get filthy if not covered.)
Home Economics exhibitors may enter one entry per class in each category. It is the participant's responsibility
to read the rules and go by their specifications. Any missing mandatory requirements on any entry will result
in the item not being placed and the entry form provided MUST be used. Any other form will not be accepted.
The Superintendents reserve the right to accept or reject an entry due to a violation of the rules and
regulations and change class or category where deemed appropriate.
All Home Ec. entries will be $5.00 for each entry.
Late entries will be accepted until December 18, 2015, at 5:00 P. M. and an additional $50.00 fee per item will
be added to the original entry fee. $50.00 will also be charged for entries that are moved from one category to
another category. If the category move is at the Superintendent's discretion, no charge applies.
Any item that is found offensive, vulgar, or inappropriate will be disqualified and not put on exhibit.
Prize money and ribbons need to be picked up NO LATER THAN Noon on Saturday. Items not picked
up BY NOON ON SATURDAY will be forfeited.
Items sold in the Home Economic Division will go to the buyer at the auction.
All Home Ec. entries need to be made from January 1, 2014 until the Hamilton County Youth Fair
2015.

All entries made from scratch except mix plus.
Attach recipe on top of the product. Recipes will be due at check in. Do not include your name on
the recipe card.
**Acceptable containers: ONLY DISPOSABLE CONTAINERS. Plastic Domes, zip lock bags,
oven roaster bags, foil covered cardboard, glad disposals; Saran wrap if all else fails. Non-acceptable
containers: Rubbermaid™, non-see through containers, glass (except for preservation), breakables.
Absolutely no other containers including baskets. Creativity on decorations and making foods look
attractive is encouraged – decorative containers are not.
No non-edible decoration except for decorated cake category. This includes doilies, tissue paper,
ribbons, fabrics, beads, etc.
Twelve cookies, muffins, candy, etc or one recipe constitute an entry; one container. Display space is
limited. Keep minimal size.

Preservation items will be tasted and for all canned items you need to BRING TWO. Judged
container will not be returned. All preservation entries must be hot water bathed or pressure canned
to seal canning jars except for jerky, granola or non-perishables. Canned goods must completely fill
the jars. All canned goods must be homemade and canned in regular or wide mouth canning jars.
Mayonnaise and other commercial jars will be disqualified. Lids must have airtight seal with the ring
intact, smooth, unbent and free of rust or corrosion.

A complete buyers listing will be available shortly after the Livestock Show. The buyers and other donors
for the Hamilton County Youth Fair are the reason that the show has been so successful in past years and it is
important that all exhibitors express their appreciation to these individuals and businesses. The Livestock
Show Board of Directors encourages exhibitors, parents, and advisors to let these donors know how
important they are to the Show. It is also important that exhibitors follow through with their written thank
you notes in a timely manner following the Show.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Hamilton County Livestock Association in an effort to encourage higher education of our youth will
present scholarships to graduating students each spring. The dollar amount and number of scholarships
given will be determined by the scholarship committee. Applicants must have participated in at least three
county shows during their high school years including their senior year. Applicants must also compete and
file a scholarship application by the announced deadline and attend an institution of higher learning
following graduation. Criteria will be available through FFA/FCCLA or 4-H Advisors.

HAMILTON COUNTY LIVESTOCK ASSOCIATION
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
The Hamilton County Livestock Association (HCLA) has established scholarships to be presented to graduating seniors who have exhibited any entry according to the association rules in the Hamilton County Youth Fair (HCYF) for at least three (3) of the last four (4) shows, including the student’s senior year. The graduating senior must attend a state-accredited institution of higher learning. Each senior applicant must also demonstrate leadership, community involvement, scholarship, and need. They are asked to relate specific values they have received from their show experience and discuss the varied ways that the student’s project experience may have benefited others through their essay. Listing all school/community activities is recommended. A committee made up of at least three (3) people approved by the HCLA Board. In an effort to encourage higher education of our youth, the HCLA will present $2000.00 in scholarships to graduating seniors each spring. The dollar amount and number of scholarships given will be determined by the scholarship committee. Applicants must complete and file a scholarship application by the announced deadline and attend an institution of higher learning. Winners will be announced at the recipient’s graduation and/or scholarship award ceremony. The committee will consider the following in determining scholarship awards:

The scholarship applications must be turned in to the Hamilton County Extension Office by
5:00pm on Friday, December 4, 2015.
Scholarship monies will be sent directly to the intended college/university upon proof of enrollment.
