PLANNED GIFTS LEAVELASTING IMPACT

Through memorial and honorarium gifts to the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club, the Endowment fund continues to grow. For the past 72 years, the trust has generated needed income for annual Boys & Girls Club operations. Another way to help the Boys & Girls Club is through planned giving. The Heritage Club has been formed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America to recognize those who have designated part of their estate to the Club. This planning might include a will, charitable gift annuity, a trust arrangement, a real estate gift or a life insurance policy. By joining the Heritage Club, Boys & Girls Clubs of America will provide you with:

• a publication on tax and estate planning

• a quarterly publication regarding current financial and retirement issues

• a lapel pin and recognition plaque that honors your support of Boys & Girls Clubs

The Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club offers a positive place for children. In today’s world, many young people are surrounded by negative influences. The Club helps them to lead successful and productive lives. Since 1928, the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club has provided a safe haven for young people. The Club offers programs and activities that build relationships and teach life skills. The Club gives members ages 6-18, opportunities to learn healthy lifestyles and pursue educational objectives. Boys & Girls Clubs equip young people with the skills they need to resolve conflicts peacefully, improve relationships within every aspect of their day-to-day lives and function as responsible citizens. Your support through a planned gift will ensure that future generations of our children will have the opportunity to live successful lives in a safe, positive and caring environment.

We appreciate your generous supportof our annual Haunted Warehouse

fundraiser at Chaffee Crossing !

Haunted Warehouse Attraction – a vortex tunnel is the latest new effect added to the 2012 FSBGC Haunted Warehouse at Chaffee Crossing.

FSBGC FUNDRAISER AT CHAFFEECROSSING ATTRACTS BIG CROWDS With a total of more than 4,000 people expected to attend the Haunted Warehouse at Chaffee Crossing, event coordinator Jason Morland is pleased with this year’s attraction. “We were able to add more square footage and several new effects”, Morland said. “We are proud to have the biggest indoor Haunted House in the entire state of Arkansas” he added. A tour through the Haunted Warehouse takes about 45 minutes. Several spooky scenes dazzle participants, including: a snowfall effect, grave yard, hillbilly cabin, dark ride, 3D room, maze, scientific laboratory and the vortex tunnel. The layout and scenes are totally different from years past. “We have some incredible volunteers who spend hours upon hours helping with the Haunted Warehouse” according to Morland. “Some of our key volunteers have been doing this for more than 15 years” he said. “Some work on the warehouse all year long” Morland added. The fundraiser generates about $ 40,000 for the Boys & Girls Club. Proceeds are used for programs and activities offered by the Club. United Federal Credit Union is a corporate sponsor for the Haunted Warehouse. Other sponsors who have been a key in making the event a success, include Northwest Fire Protection, who donated labor and parts for several scenes. The Haunted Warehouse has been located at Chaffee Crossing for the past 5 years. Tickets are pre-sold from the Evans unit and are $ 12 each. For more detailed information including a map and schedule, visit the FSBGC web site or call Morland at 479-646-9519.

Special thanks to the Burlsworth Foundation and the Fort Smith Quarterback Club for providing 25 Club members and five chaperones tickets to attend the Razorback game vs. Jacksonville State at Reynolds Razorback stadium. Arkansas won the game 49-24.

BURLSWORTH FOUNDATION MAKES COLLEGE GAME DAY POSSIBLE FOR CLUB KIDS

Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club members were selected to be “Burls Kids” during the September 1 opening game of the Arkansas Razorback football season. For the past 12 years, the Burlsworth Foundation has provided free tickets to children around the state to attend a Razorback game. Participants are given an official “Burls Kid” t-shirt and replica glasses similar to what Brandon wore on the field. They are taken on a tour of the Broyles Complex and then get to march out on the field and be within inches of those huge football players. Players, as well as cheerleaders, mascots and even some special guests on the field autograph their shirts. “Burls Kids get to walk the sideline and are taken to their special section in Razorback Stadium. Papa John’s Pizza or Pizza Hut donate a personal pizza and drink to each child and their sponsors. Brandon Burlsworth was a All-American lineman for the Razorback football team from 1996-1998. Eleven days after being drafted by the NFL Indianapolis Colts, he tragically died in an automobile accident at the age of 22. He was the first Razorback ever to finish his masters degree before his final game.
