Calendar 2017 Dates
Many families will already have Thursday November 16 marked on their calendars for our biannual ART Show in the Haddon Community Centre. All students have been working very hard to produce pieces of art work which they would like to show case to the community.
Our JSC and Student Leadership Group will be organising activities throughout the evening for students to take part in and a timetable of activities will be sent out next week.
A small group of parents have organised the catering for the evening and are seeking help with the food preparation and sales both during the day and on the night. We are looking for someone to man our new industrial size BBQ on the evening. Please consider spending 30 minutes or more to help. We will also require lots of helpers during the day to help display the art work. Please come along from 9:00am to 2:00 to assist with this huge task. Parents are also required to help with displaying the mountain of artwork the students have produced. If you can spare some time on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday please come along and lend a hand. We are also asking for donations of cakes and slices which can be sold on the evening. These can be brought to the office or taken to the fridge in the Rec Hall on the day. Do not cut the slices as helpers will cut, seal and label these during the day. Please write down the ingredients and remember nut free products to be used. This is a great community event and we encourage everyone to come along and lend a hand where possible. Today we farewell Mrs Oliver who will be commencing family leave. We wish both Lauren and Jordan all the best in their big step in to parenthood. Ms Esme Jorgenson will be teaching in 12O until the end of the year. Esme comes to us with experience teaching in other primary schools in the Ballarat area and we know everyone will make her feel very welcome at Haddon. We were very pleased to welcome Mr Stephan Fields, Assistant Principal of Phoenix Community College, to our assembly today. Mr Fields presented Scholarships to three of our year 6 students, Jack Gregory (Academic Scholarship), Kody Emmerson (Sports scholarship), and Wylie Anderson (Sports Scholarship). We congratulate these boys on their achievements and wish them well in their future endeavours. A reminder that all students are required to wear hats outside at school during this term.

WALK AT SCHOOL in October 2017!
Our school has registered to participate in VicHealth’s Walk to School this October. We realise it is difficult considering our location here at Haddon for children and families to Walk to school, therefore we are changing this to WALK AT SCHOOL.
During the month of October, our school, together with Golden Plains Shire Council are encouraging families to Walk At School as a great way for the whole family to increase their physical activity levels.
Children and families may take the opportunity before school or after school each day to walk a lap or two of the oval together. Classroom teachers will be keeping track of student participation and we will be watching closely to see which class has the highest level of participation each week.
At the end of the four weeks we will hold a healthy snack/ walking afternoon for families to spend some time walking together at school.
Our Entertainment Books have come to a
close. If you are still interested in
purchasing a Book please contact Jeremy
Lance. Thank you to all our parents and
friends who have bought a book to support
our school.
