From the Teachers…Hello Parents,
We have completed our first weeks of the 2018-2019 school year! We have been practicing our classroom and school routines and procedures. Your first graders are natural-born LEADERS! We look forward to working with you this school year
Leader in MeOur classroom rules and procedures
revolve around the following 7 habits. We encourage our parents to implement the 7 habits a home, as well, to create great leaders at school and at home. Habit 1: Be ProactiveYou're in Charge: I am responsible. I do not blame others for my wrong actions. I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking.Habit 2: Begin with the End in MindHave a Plan: I plan ahead and set goals.Habit 3: Put First Things FirstWork First, Then Play: I spend my time on things that are most important.Habit 4: Think Win-WinEveryone Can Win: I balance courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want.Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be UnderstoodListen Before You Talk: I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings. I listen to others without interrupting.Habit 6: SynergizeI know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than anyone of us can alone.Habit 7: Sharpen The SawBalance Feels Best: I take care of my body by eating right, exercising and getting sleep. I spend time with family and friends.

Home Activities: Read at least 20 minutes each night. Point out capital letters and punctuation
when reading and writing. Use different manipulatives (beans, spoons,
pennies, pasta, etc.) to make and count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s. (Our goal is to count beyond 120 by the end of first grade.)
