We have been practicing our classroom and school routines and procedures. Your first graders are natural-born LEADERS! We look Leader in Me Our classroom rules and procedures revolve around the following 7 habits. We encourage our parents to implement the 7 habits a home, as well, to create great leaders at school and at home. Habit 1: Be Proactive You're in Charge: I am responsible. I do not blame others for my wrong actions. I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking. Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind Have a Plan: I plan ahead and set goals. Habit 3: Put First Things First Work First, Then Play: I spend my time on things that are most important. Habit 4: Think Win-Win Everyone Can Win: I balance courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want. Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood Listen Before You Talk: I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings. I This Month in the Classroom ELA: Answering and asking key details in texts Describing characters, setting, and major events in a story Sentence features Single syllable word blending Identify and pronounce beginning, middle, and ending sounds Lower and upper-case letters Personal, possessive, and indefinite pronouns Math: Count, read, and write numbers up to 120 Categorize data up to three categories Analyze and interpret data Science: Home Activities: Read at least 20 minutes each night. Point out capital letters and punctuation when reading and writing.
