West Pasco Habitat for Humanity Proposal Additions:

Time FrameRecent Developments: We hosted a Fundraiser with great success August. 4th. Over 30 people from thecommunity came out . We had a group of ladies representing Tampa Bay Time

(www.tampabaytime.org) come out to speak about their volunteer coordinating website that allowsmembers to transfer and trade volunteer hours throughout the Tampa bay area. Jun our musicianplayed for about an hour during sunset till. We received gifts from local salon and held a Raffle givingaway those gifts as well as a 50/50 drawing. All total we raised over $250 for Habitat for Humanitythat we hope will be used for the garden. The local New Port Richey Patch Editor Adam came out andwould like to do a publicity piece about Habitat for Humanity. (http://newportrichey.patch.com/ ) Webelieve we have a great seed started and it will grow into something highly productive!

Within a Month:A recent volunteer Coordinator Rick will be joining us and we would like to begin when he returnsfrom vacation on totally revamping the garden with volunteers and accomplishing Phase 1 for Fallvegetables. In the mean time till we can raise further funds to create the Aquaponics system of Phase 2we would like to open up the south side of the garden area as a community garden space. We canfollow a great plan of organizing a community garden area located here:http://www.communitygarden.org/learn/starting-a-community-garden.php . We could rent out for theseason the plots along the south side for $15 to $30 depending on the size to the local community. Wewill move the current greenhouse over to another location and utilize it as a nursery for raising plants.

The isolated room the south of Habitat could be cleaned up and used as retail space for specific gardenequipment, organic fertilizers, vertical growing pots, worm castings and plants. All of this couldgenerate money for Habitat for Humanity.

Within 2 months-We could create a steady stream of income coming through the sale of plants and gardening supplies. The farmers market could be re-opened and vendors apply for renting booths. Vendors for thecommunity garden space can also choose to come on that day and volunteer for the Phase 1 initiative ofgrowing plants and selling for profit or CSA (Community Supported Agriculture: where we sell sharesof the produce we create)

Free events, workshops, movie showings, and volunteer opportunities will be on a constant rotation forthe community to engage with Habitat for Humanity and learn more about sustainable living. We hopein the community located around Habitat we can encourage a community that creates positive changesuch as lowering the crime, ending drug abuse, keeping people in their homes, and creating cottagehome industries for jobs of the unemployed.

PERMACULTURE ETHICS: Care of People the community around Habitat for Humanity wasrecently shocked with the news of several officers shot at just recently. I think the community wouldreally support an initiative such as we are proposing and stand behind us in building a positive visionwith Habitat for Humanity being the source and center of the operations.

    Community Impact and Mission:

Pasco has a hunger problem. Thousands of people are living in the forests all around the New PortRichey area. We can make it a mission to end Hunger in Pasco by forming a Coalition. Such a coalitionhas formed in Hernando county ( www.hungryinhernando.org) Green World Path a local creator ofliquid compost and gardening supplies ( www.greenworldpath.com) hosted a meeting that I, EricStewart, attended and video taped. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVLgk0_5cyk). Having amission based upon food we can expand the mission of Habitat for Humanity for keeping people intheir homes in our local community by lowering their food costs!

Building a coalition and hosting meetings we could create a Hungry in Pasco initiative. Buildcollaborations with all local groups ( Churches, local Farmers, Local Gardner, Restaurants, Real Estate, local Government, Police, and Homeless groups) and work with a county wide goal of helping thehungry and educating the community about locally grown chemical free and non genetically modifiedfood.

A free tool online tool has been hosted by my non-profit group Code Green Community(www.codegreencommunity.org ) we are hosting an online Green Living Economy Map that has pointsof locations throughout the Tampa bay area that are supporting green jobs and sustainability!http://www.opengreenmap.org/greenmap/tampa-bay-green-living-economy-map

I, Eric Stewart, also spoke at recent Ignite Tampa Bay ( www.ignitetampabay.org) event where I spokeabout volunteering and collaborating our garden with hundreds of other people across the Tampa bayarea to weave resilience incase of future economic, environmental, or energy shocks to our system. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHasdo0eg_Y ) - with the non-profit online group I started in 2008we can connect and collaborate bringing possibly people throughout the Tampa bay area to our gardento learn, purchase, and grow our community!

I really think we have a great thing going on and hope the Board of Directors supports us to grow anddevelop Habitat for Humanity to be completely self sufficient while making the community selfsufficient as well!

    Thanks,Eric Stewart
