PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The numbers of dental implants placed are increasing and in turn the importance of implementing safe and effective monitoring and maintenance therapies is essential to the survival rate of today’s dental implants. While implant design and surface technology play a key role in implant success rates, the fact remains biofilm management is critical in long term survival and success. Majority of dental implant maintenance takes place in the general restorative practice. The registered dental hygienist and restorative dentist play a key role in early detection of peri-implant disease. Current research highlights over 50% of dental implants placed may develop some form of infection. The team approach is critical in the accurate assessment and identification of health, mucositis and peri-implantitis. This course emphasizes a hands-on approach in understanding the biologic formation of biofilm and the proven, safe and effective methods in biofilm management. A highlight of this program includes an evidence based approach on the safety and efficacy of the latest developments in instruments, self-care aids and methodologies used in dental implant maintenance today. This presentation will review current literature on guided biofilm therapy including instrumentation and biocompatibility of materials on titanium and zirconia surfaces. LEARNING OBJECTIVES • Identify and differentiate level of condition from health, mucositis and implantitis • Discuss elements of biofilm formation and guided biofilm management with glycine • Understand biocompatibility of materials related to implant maintenance from hand instrumentation to microsonic methods • Differentiate between surpagingival and subgingival air polishing techniques • Identify steps to implement guided biofilm management into clinical protocols • Differentiate efficiency and efficacy of magnetostrictive therapy and piezoelectric technologies Guided Biofilm Management In Association with CLE OMS Wednesday, April 1, 2020 Speaker Janis Spiliadis Date Wednesday, April 1, 2020 Time 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Program Location Webinar Audience G - General Dentist, DA - Dental Assistant, DH - Dental Hygienist Subject Code 690 SAC Straightforward Type Lecture CE credit 2.0 Hours Tuition Complimentary RSVP In order to receive CE please register at: https://skill.straumann.com/en-US/Details?TrainingID=6237 **AND** Register for the webinar: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2482345817595277325 Questions?
