Rayne earned her Agility Trial Champion of Canada title on September 28th becoming only the 9th

GSP to have achieved this award to date. This is a huge accomplishment for any dog but it is

extra special for her considering that in July 2012, she was attacked by a black bear and almost

killed!



Dear GSPCC Members,

It's nearing the end of the year and time to think about elections for the GSP Club of Canada.

Now is the perfect time to step up and serve your club - your opportunity to make changes and help the club do things better! Please take some time to reflect on submitting your name for a position on the board or possibly serving on a committee. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Several Board and Director positions will open and you will be sent a list of these as well as receive a notice from the Nominations committee shortly in a separate email. This includes the position of President, as I will be stepping down from that position.

The current BOD has accomplished a lot in the past couple of years - we revised the Constitution, established a Code of Ethics and continue to work to maintain our Breed Standards despite the challenges with the CKC and the CVMA.

Our club has been very active! I would like to applaud the hard working club members who continue to put on National Specialties, Regional Specialties, Field Dog Tests (including the Maritimes!) and Field Trials (for the second year!).

Committees are critical to the working of the GSPCC and we would love your input! Any member can be part of a committee. Some of the Committees proposed include: Breed Standards, Judges Education, Rescue, Specialty Show Planning. We'd also like to hear from you if you have ideas for other committees.

Nova Scotia Field Dog Tests September 14-15, 2013



Last year it was Hurricane Humberto. This year it was Hurricane Gabrielle. Ensuring field dog tests run successfully is uniquely challenging on the East Coast given that we have to contend with hurricane season :) But the heavens were smiling on us this year. After much nail biting hoping the judges and the birds would arrive on their flights scheduled for Friday (where all airlines had issued travel advisories), we were very happy that they all arrived safely, and on time. Many dogs ran and qualified. Several new titles were earned. Prizes were awarded for the highest qualifying score, and the results were as follows:

Test 1:

FD - Ch Wyndbourne Intrepid (Walsh),

FDJ - Pageska’s RB Ida Malley (Larder)

Test 2 had two ties:

FD - Pageska’s Ippenwoud ReeceT (Giroux),

FD - Ch Egerton’s Sweet Cherry Blossom (Pettigrew)

FDJ - Pageska’s RB Gypsy Queen (Alen),

FDJ - Paging Miss Page (Walsh)

In addition to having many dogs participate, we also had three apprentice judges working towards their qualifications. Gaby Giroux (not to be mistaken for Hurricane Gaby :) finished off his FD apprenticeship and became the first fully qualified FD judge in Atlantic Canada. Bravo Gaby ! Also, we were pleased to have upcoming apprentice judges Paige Petis and Darren Miller.

Looking forward to another year of Field Dog Tests in 2014. Thank you to the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Canada and to Vizsla Canada for all your support and for officiating these tests.

Charlotte finished her AKC Championship exclusively from the Bred by Exhibitor class. She finished with back to back majors and promptly entered the Specials ring the next day, winning a 4 point Gr CH major! Her second day as a special resulted in an Award of Merit at the Nutmeg GSP Specialty show! We left for Canada and she won the Bred By Sporting Group at SD&G the day before the GSPCC National Specialty! We are looking forward to great things from Charlotte!

GSPFCA & GSPCC Fall Trial Results

Hi everyone,

Here are the results from our trial. Steve and I would like to thank all of you who came out and helped us. We could not have done it without you! We had a few judges who could not attend, so thank you to our replacement judges for stepping up to fill in. Thanks to Kate for organizing our food and making breakfast on Monday, and to Karen who came out every day to make lunches. Neither one of them had a dog entered so they came out just to help us. Thanks to all our bird planters and dog wagon drivers and a big thanks to Vince from Cycleworks for supplying our dog wagon, which every-one loves to drive! It was great to see so many families and children at our event.
