Organization Background Mission: To offer assistance to those in need via home

building or home restoration (in order to have homes that meet codes.) Food assistance is also provided.

Participants apply through an application process and our chosen based on financial need

Seven member board reviews applicants and determines who receives assistance

Organization Background Main goal: to better the community by creating self-

sufficient citizens. These citizens are better able to care for their families by having long-term housing. The community also becomes more attractive by taking better care of the building structures that are present.

Secondary goal: to make volunteering a learning experience that is meaningful to all involved

Organization Background The organization is run by a few paid staff members

who handle the day to day operations

Funded through donations of both time and money

Community can donate through the website and the organization is available to pick up any donations

Volunteer Opportunities Advertises volunteer opportunities throughout the

community and on our website

Both short and long term

Volunteers attend an orientation session where they learn about the organization and the tasks they will be doing

Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers are able to check how much time they’ve

volunteered on the organization’s website

Will also show volunteer opportunities

Organization works to find an appropriate job based on the volunteers past experience

Input is sought from the volunteer on how the job should be done

Volunteer Focus Our organization focuses on volunteer retention

through:

working with people who are willing to make a long-term commitment and those who can only donate a small about of time

Dedicated staff who provide guidance for each volunteer to ensure they are prepared for the job

Volunteers are constantly recognized for the work they contribute

Recognizes their contributions and gives them credit for what they do

Provides them with support and guidance

Allows both short term and long term commitments
