Q & AWhat are the infrastructural trends and how can Singapore companies embark on such projects?

Electricity, sea transportation and roads are the main focus of the Indonesia Government’s plans. While Singapore companies may have to compete with state-owned enterprise, working together with local players may be feasible particularly for projects with high value and require high-end technology such as High Speed Train (HST).

What are some factors to consider for private sectors investors in Indonesia?

Aside to infrastructure projects what are the building construction trends that can be seen now? The legal framework for projects may be

uncertain at times. Moreover, the judicial system cannot be fully relied upon to enforce contracts impartially and objectively. The procurement process, while improving are not always transparent. Policies and strategies may also be subject to change on short notice. Different public organisations may also be uncoordinated and have conflicting goals.

The top players in the building and construction industry are focusing more on high rise developments particularly apartments and offices. This is driven by the high demand from urbanisingpopulation and rising income. Such top players are PT Acset, Nusa Raya Cipta, TOTAL, Wika Gedung and Adhi PersadaGedung.
