The last 2

weeks in the

world of Pre-K we have been

reviewing pre-

vious letters

we have gone

over and then

have begun to learn about

the letter H.

It's so much

fun finding

words that start with one little letter! This week

we've had fun making the letter H with

little Hand and heart stickers as well as

decorating pictures such as a Hippo,

Horse, and Hat.

We've really been enjoying learning how to be more thankful in our class.

There are so many things we can be

thankful for. We are learning more

about different people in our school and what we can be thankful to them for.

We encourage you to get to know others

both inside and outside of your class-

room and find even one thing you can

be thankful for because of them.

It is getting colder outside. I encourage you to keep bringing your warm jack-

ets, hats, and gloves. As some of these

items are small, it is very important to

place your child's name onto each item

(for example: on both gloves, on their hat, on their jacket, on both boots when

it starts snowing, etc…). Sometimes

items get mixed up in the classroom, so

it's really important for their name to be

on all items.

We hope you have a wonderful and blessed Sabbath! God bless each of you!

These past couple of weeks in Preschool, we

have covered the following topics:

* Numbers (Finishing up on #3)

* Classification of colors

* Colors and Shapes (The color BLUE and

the shape RECTANGLE)

* The letter "E". (The preschoolers identified the letter "E" in the beginning of their names, so they learned that Emily's and

Eli's names begin with "E". We also learned

ELEPHANT starts with the "E" Letter.

In Bible we have been learning about a cou-ple of Heroes of the Bible: Joshua - Moses

successor who led God's people to cross the Jordan river towards the promised land. The boys and girls enjoyed singing the song "Joshua fought the battle of Jerico". The other hero of the Bible that we learned about was Daniel - a brave and faithful God's prophet who decided to put God first

in his life.

My little ones had a good time watching the movies about these guys. We are trying to copy them, but overall our only Super Hero is Jesus

and we want to be like Him- AMEN!

We want to say “Thank you” to Mr. Ayala,

our Chaplain, for visiting us every Monday

to have a nice devotional.

The weather is getting colder, so I encourage you to bring winter jackets, hats and mit-tens and also snow boots and snow pants

for snow days.

Thank for coming to our Parent Apprecia-tion Dinner and bringing your child to par-ticipate in the program and for all your help

in our classroom. God Bless you.

This week we are reviewing

what we have learned so far in

quarter one. In math we learned

about adding and subtracting zero

and finding the sum and difference

of different word problems. This

month our theme is "My world and

others". We learned about different

farm animals and the names of their

offspring. In science we are learning

about seeds and plants and how

they grow. We are observing our

beans grow through each of its stages. In language

we are learning about statements and questions and

the correct beginning and ending.

Parents please remember to check your child's

homework folder and have them study their memory

verse and spelling words. Also have them read to you

EVERY night and log it in order to get credit.

Thank you for sup-

porting our children

at the Parent Appreci-

ation Ceremony.

MEMORY VERSE: "A

happy heart is like good

medicine. But a broken spirit drains your

strength." Proverbs

17:22

BIBLE STORY: King Da-

vid had every reason to

be a sad man. Ask your child to tell you all the terrible & sad things that

happened to David. Then ask your child if David

was a sad man. We drew Happy Heart pictures.

NEW SIGHT WORDS: Pink, as, his, I, they, with.

NEW LETTERS TO PRACTICE WRITING, RECOGNIZ-ING, & SOUNDING OUT: Nn Oo

NATIVE AMERICANS, PILGRIMS, & THANKSGIV-

ING: We learned some of the traditional stories that

Native Americans have told for many genera-

tions. We drew picture stories on "white buckskin,"

made collages with wooden blocks & sticks, made more collages with natural items we gathered

outside (leaves, twigs, acorns, feathers), drew/

colored totem poles (story statues), made turtle shell

rattles, & created beautiful clay bowls.

HOMEWORK: READ READ READ! Keep READING

to & with your child. LISTEN to your child read to

you.

WE MISS MRS. SLOCUM! Mrs. Slocum is with her daughter Rachel in California waiting to meet her

new baby grandson! As of Wednesday afternoon this

week (when this newsletter was written), Rachel had

not yet given birth to Baby Boy Bispham. We are

eagerly anticipating seeing pictures of him!

THANK YOU to Patricia Soares for helping in our classroom while Mrs. Slocum is in California. "Mrs.

Pat" is a huge blessing to us!

Second Grade: Mrs. O’Geare

In Language Arts we have begun our theme

on Spiritual Journey and are reading the book

“Twice Yours.” It is a story within a story as a grand-father told his grandson about a little boy who lost

his boat and had to trade everything he had to get it

back from a boy who claimed the boat is his because

he found it. The boat was

twice his because he made

it and then he bought it just like Jesus did for us.

We have labeled the differ-

ent parts of a boat and

wrote and shared our expe-

riences of being on a boat. The children also wrote in

their journals how they can

use their hands, head, foot,

mouth eyes and ears to

praise God.

In Bible, we learned that Solomon did not ask for riches, long life or the death of his enemies,

but he asked for wisdom and God gave him more

than he asked for. We also shared some things that

we would like to ask God for. Like Solomon we want

to strengthen God's good name by being good exam-ples.

We started Unit 5 in Social Studies and are

learning how to sequence information. We also com-

pare Native American cultures from different regions

and times, talked about the Pilgrims and Thanksgiv-

ing and why Americans still celebrate Thanksgiving today. We learned the first thirteen colonies in Amer-

ica and why many Americans wanted their inde-

pendence from England. We also talked about how

Paul Revere was very patriotic and

showed responsibility for the safety of

the colonists.

Math class is going really well.

We are on chapter 4 and the students

are doing a great job regrouping.

Reading: Please remind your child to

log on to Raz Kids each night and keep reading.

We had an exciting time at our paja-

ma and pizza party last Friday. We

read our favorite books to each other,

played game presented our desert animal project.

Please feel free to stop by and see the great work that the students have done. We will miss Jayden Roden

whose last day was Friday because his family moved

to Pennsylvania. The student of the month for No-

vember is Clark Barayuga… Congratulations C.J.!

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Third Grade: Mrs. Cook

Hello Greater Boston Academy,

What a great time of year it is. It is the season of

thanksgiving! Our third grade class had such a great

time at the parent appreciation dinner. We are so

thankful for such dedicated parents who sacrifice

time, money and energy to support our school and

to send each of us to a Christian school. We are

thankful for so many things. In fact, we even wrote

all about what we are thankful for. Come by our

bulletin board by our classroom and you can see

what we wrote. If you come inside our room you will

see a brightly decorated chain that we made. On

each link of the chain we described one way we can

use the Fruits of the Spirit in our everyday lives.

In Math this week we are finishing up our chapter

on multiplication. The next step is division. In Lit-

eracy we have been reading a historical fiction book

called Sarah Plain and Tall. Mrs. Cook has also

been reading the Little

House on the Prairie series

to us. It is fun to think of

what life was like in the

days of the pioneers. In

Social Studies we have

been studying what makes

the culture of a socie-

ty. We have finished

learning to write the whole

alphabet in cursive and

now we will be writing in

cursive more.

Recently we discussed traditions and we are having

fun sharing some traditions that we each have. We

are looking forward to having a nice break for

Thanksgiving. Enjoy the season of thankfulness

and remember that God loves you.

Fourth and Fifth Grades: Mr. Gowasack

Well it has been another week and

things are going great ladies and gentlemen. The children are doing splendid but some

things can still be better. Book reports, tests, reading, quizzes and more work are just some of the things that we have been

doing. Now on a more serious note parents, I would like to ask you to talk seriously to your children about teasing. Without this

small but significant factor our Fourth, and Fifth grade classes would be running a lot

more smoothly. The children have been ad-justing to work and trying to have in assign-ments on time. Things are going well, but

we still need your help to keep improving.

Also, I know due to the hectic sched-

ule of life it was not possible for everyone to attend Parent/Teacher Conference last

week. So it would be much appreciated if you would contact me or the office to make an appointment, so that we can discuss

how your child is doing.

Once again parents that you for your

time, consideration and understanding.

date for this issue.

Eighth Grade: Mr. Byas

“If you cannot prove what you believe, then one day you will cease to believe what you thought you believed” was the opening statement of the eighth

grade new service class.

The past three weeks the eighth grade class has been learning how to give a bible study. At the end of the lesson, each student was given a topic to present a

bible study on and answer questions demonstrating their knowledge on the topic.“ When people think the state of the

dead, they think of mummies, zombies, and vampires or their dead grandmas coming to visit, but that is not what the bible teaches”. This was the opening statement from

Cailen and her study blew my mind away. Never have I heard or seen such a young person prove such a difficult topic with clarity and total understanding. The study, which Cailen presented, was deep and profound and the

class has learned much by it.

Andy Van demonstrated great potential to become a powerful evangelist as he presented his topic on the Sabbath. Andy not only proved that Saturday was the Sabbath but also proved that no-where in scripture does it give evidence from the change of the Sabbath to Sunday. Andy showed the class how and when

and who instituted the change.

As the days goes by the stu-dents of this class are certainly growing in spirit and in

truth and are discovering how to share with their friends that which they claim to believe in. Please continue to pray for them as their heart has the desire to draw close to their

maker.

Happy Sabbath,

Mr. Byas

Wishing everyone a

wonderful Thanksgiving!
