GRASS RESIDENCES

2013-July

Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. - VISIONARY

“While I was on my shopping trips abroad during the 1950s and 1960s, I saw the shopping center development in the US from the East to the West Coast. I knew that this would happen in the Philippines.” – Henry Sy, Sr.

THE MALL THAT STARTED IT ALL

• It all began here. SM City North EDSA innovated and institutionalized the "one-stop shopping complex" and was the first mall in the Philippines to introduce "malling" as a pastime. Besides being a haven for shoppers, the architecture of the mall blends both old and new, creating calming and colorful scenes.

• With world-class cinemas, a helpful and convenient transport depot for easy commuting, outdoor parking, and attractive structures, SM City North EDSA aims to be an architectural landmark of Metro Manila’s progress, as well as one of the most beautiful structures in the Philippines.

Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. - VISIONARY

The Times:

“In 1983, we were building SM City North-EDSA, our first shopping mall. Many people at that time said I was crazy. There was a political crisis; interest rates were as high as 45%, and the location of the mall was in the middle of nowhere. They said that SM City would not succeed, but the mall was an instant success.”

AND THE REST, AS THEY SAY, IS HISTORY…

Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. - VISIONARY

WE BUILT THIS CITY

Construction of SM City North EDSA started in 1983 and opened in 1985. Since then, the shopping mall has undergone several expansions and renovations. It has 4 primary buildings (the City Center, The Block, The Annex and Carpark Multilevel Bldg) and The Sky Garden covering the whole complex.

• With a gross floor area of 424,691 square meters, SM City North Edsa is the Philippines‘ largest mall and the third largest in the world.

• More than 700 retail shops for all wants and needs

• More than 170 restaurants for all palates

• 48 food stalls catering to more than 3000 seats at the Food Court

• 12 cinemas for all movie-goers, including a digital cinema at The Block and IMAX at the City Center

• More than 170 shops and service centers, all in the Annex

• Nearly 4,000 parking slots with valet services on 3 strategic locations.

• It also features SM Department Store, its major anchor, and SM Supermarket, a Hypermarket, a Savemore Supermarket, a Sky Garden, an Amphitheater an entertainment stage for events with more than 1200 seats and a Hypermarket.
