Aboriginal Benefits Foundation Grants Aboriginal Benefits Foundation Amount: $500 - $5,000 Closing: Ongoing The Foundation provides grants to assist Aboriginal communities and individuals by providing funds to support projects which advance the aims of the Foundation, with the current focus on supporting art, health and cultural projects with a connection to Aboriginal art and/or artists. In view of the limited resources available to the Foundation, priority for funding is being given to the following categories: 1. Seeding grants:to research the relevance and value of new projects with a connection to Aboriginal art and/or artists that may be ineligible for support from existing agencies

to facilitate schemes or projects with a connection to Aboriginal art and/or artists which are of benefit to Aboriginal health, welfare or education which have potential for wider application.

ACE Sponsorship Program Australian Communication Exchange Amount: In-kind services Closing: Ongoing ACE sponsorship program provides in-kind services to make a project, event or initiative accessible by the deaf, hearing or speech impaired community, up to the value of $20,000. Advocacy Grants Consumer Advocacy Panel Amounts: Various Closing: Ongoing The Consumer Advocacy Panel offers grants to support energy advocacy and research. Energy advocacy is any activity designed to persuade a third party to make a decision or change that improves the situation of electricity and gas consumers. Advocacy Grants Applications for advocacy grants can be made at any time during the year, and will be

considered at the next Panel meeting – due dates for each meeting are listed on the Calendar. Alcohol and Other Drugs Conference Funding Program Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education on behalf of the Australian Government Amount: Up to $10,000 to organise a conference, up to $2,000 to attend one Closing: 31 July 2013 Applications are now requested for the Alcohol and Other Drugs Conference Funding Program (AODCP). The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing funds the AODCP to provide limited financial assistance to: • support the running of conferences and events in related areas (AOD Conference Sponsorship Program) [up to a maximum of $10,000 ex GST]; and • enable individuals supported by their employers and organisations to enhance their professional expertise through conference and event attendance (AOD Conference Attendance Scholarship Program) [up to a maximum of $2,000 ex GST].

This Program is managed by the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education on the Department’s behalf. The purpose of the AODCP is to: • Promote the understanding of national issues in prevention, service improvement and early intervention in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) misuse; • Promote debate on AOD issues; • Promote the involvement of AOD Sector Workers and/or researchers in the AOD field at AOD-themed conferences; and • Support the delivery of those conferences with an alcohol and other drugs focus. Black Spot Program Australian Government Amount: Various Closes: Ongoing The Black Spot Program is part of the commitment to reduce crashes on Australian roads. Road crashes are a major cost to Australians every year. Black Spot projects target those road locations where crashes are occurring. By funding measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at dangerous locations, the program reduces the risk of crashes. Programs of this sort are very effective, saving the community many times the cost of the relatively minor road improvements that are implemented.

The Black Spot Program makes an important contribution in reducing the national road toll under the National Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan. The Government will provide $59.5 million per annum to 2013-14 for road safety projects under the Black Spot Program. In the 2012-13 Budget, the Government announced that it will provide $300 million ($60 million per annum) to extend the Black Spot Program for a further five years from 2014-15 to 2018-19. Charities Maritime and Aviation Support Program (CMAS) Australian Government Amount: Various - rebates for taxes levied on fuel Closes: Ongoing An effective carbon price has been applied to aviation fuels through an increase in the aviation fuel excise, and to petrol and diesel used for maritime purposes through reductions in Fuel Tax Credits that may be claimed. The Charities Maritime and Aviation Support Program was introduced in June 2012 to assist eligible charities with maritime and aviation fuel cost increases directly attributable to the effective carbon price. Charities eligible to apply for assistance under the Charities Maritime and Aviation Support Program are those who are registered as charities and also endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as Deductible Gift Recipients (DGRs). Assistance is provided to eligible charities that are able to produce evidence of direct expenditure on aviation fuel or fuels used for maritime purposes, for which an effective carbon price has been paid by the organisation. The Charities Maritime and Aviation Support Program is administered by the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency under the Australian Government’s climate change plan — Securing a Clean Energy Future. Coles Junior Landcare School Garden Grant Coles & Junior Landcare Amount: Up to $1000 Closes: 2 August 2013 Since 2008 the Coles Junior Landcare Garden Grants program has been providing grants of up to $1,000 to schools and youth groups to help create gardens in their grounds or community, such as bush tucker gardens, water wise gardens or veggie gardens. DeviantART Creative Grants DeviantART Amount: US$250-$750 Closes: Ongoing On 3 month cycles, deviantART will accept applications from artists seeking to fund art-related projects. A panel called the Creative Grants Board will pick those projects that they believe will benefit particularly from a Grant and give those artists the support they need to make it happen. The lucky few who are chosen to receive Grants will also be given a beautiful accolade on their deviantART Profile Page to celebrate their success. All applications in a given cycle will be reviewed by members of the Board fairly and Grants will be given to as few or as many as the review panel deems appropriate within the budget of available funds. Grants will range between $250 and $750 per application for the first cycle of funding, with total funding of $10,000 available. For more info: click here

Disaster Relief Grants The Ministry for Police and Emergency Services Amount: Various Closing: Ongoing Disaster relief grants are available to help eligible individuals and families, who are experiencing personal financial hardship and distress, to recover from the disaster event. The purpose of the grants is to ensure that disaster affected people have a safe and habitable home to live in. Assistance may also be available to help meet the cost of repair or replacement of essential household contents or essential structural repairs to their homes. Community Services financial assistance is not provided as a replacement to insurance or as

compensation for losses. Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program (EITAAP) Australian Sports Commission Amount: Up to $1,500 for national and $4,000 for international events per person p.a Closes: Ongoing In order to be eligible to apply for an EITAAP grant an indigenous sportsperson and their sponsoring organisation must meet the following criteria: Sportsperson:

be an indigenous sportsperson (athlete, coach, manager, official or trainer). Note that each application must include a Confirmation of Aboriginality (unless already provided to the ASC), these documents can be obtained from most local Indigenous organisations.

Be selected in an official state/territory team to compete at national championships or an official Australian team to compete at an international event affiliated with an Australian Sports Commission recognised national sporting organisation (NSO).

be part of a team where there is a clear selection process. must not be selected as part of an indigenous only team. must not be attending a professional event or an event that involves prize

money. must not be under the age of 12 years (although exemptions may apply).

EITAAP funding is available to assist with travel costs in the form of petrol costs or air travel and accommodation expenses only:

up to a maximum of $1,500 per financial year for eligible national championships; and/or

up to a maximum of $4,000 per financial year for eligible international competitions

Emergency Grants Community Broadcasting Foundation Ltd Amount: Up to $10,000 Closing: Ongoing

Funds are available to assist stations to replace damaged or destroyed essential equipment and related immediate expenses in order to restore basic transmission following an unforeseen event such as flood, bushfire, lightning or accidental damage (but not operator failure). Grants will be approved outside the normal grant rounds - you will receive advice about the success of your application within approximately two weeks, instead of the usual 10 weeks. Employee Volunteer Grant Program National Australia Bank (NAB) Amount: Various Closing: Ongoing NAB provides 16 hours volunteer leave each year for its employees. Our people use this leave to carry out voluntary work for not for profit organisations in their communities. The potential impact is significant considering NAB has over 23,000 employees in Australia with the opportunity to offer over 40,000 days of volunteering each year. The work carried out by our volunteers is varied, general (non skilled) volunteering through to skilled volunteering. In 2011 (NAB's financial year October - September), our Australian employees contributed 15,839 (14,504 general + 1,335 skill based) volunteer days with an in-kind value of $5.68 million. If you need volunteers for a one-off piece of work, event or on an on-going basis, consider the information below. We are looking for volunteering activities that: • can benefit community groups who need unskilled labour, with a focus on participation; • can benefit your organisation through the use of our employees' specialist skills – find out more about skill based volunteering; • can be held out of the office at your location, preferably during the working week; • are at easy to get to locations as employees make their own way to the site of each activity; • could be something we bring into our offices for completion; • are safe and supervised; and • does not involve unsupervised contact with children. Ethanol Production Grants Australian Government Amount: The EPG provides full excise reimbursement, at a rate of 38.143 cents per litre, to ethanol producers for ethanol produced and supplied for transport use in Australia from locally derived feedstocks. Closing: Ongoing The Ethanol Production Grants (EPG) program seeks to support production and deployment of ethanol as a sustainable alternative transport fuel in Australia. The EPG provides full excise reimbursement, at a rate of 38.143 cents per litre, to

ethanol producers for ethanol produced and supplied for transport use in Australia from locally derived feedstocks. Applications for the EPG program can be submitted at any time during the operation of the program. Facility Loan Scheme Tennis Australia Amount: Max per grant: $80,000 Closing: Ongoing The Tennis Australia Facility Loan Scheme financially assists affiliated Australian Tennis Clubs, Centres and Associations with upgrades, replacements and improvements on their tennis facilities, by providing low interest loans. A Club, Centre or Association will often embark on a project utilising grant monies from local government and/or state government, as well as their own funds. The Tennis Australia loan is to assist in shortfalls the Club may have in funding their project after other avenues of funding have been determined. Haemophilia Foundation Research Grants Haemophilia Foundation Amount: Total pool: $20,000 Closing: 30 September 2013 A funding round for grants for medical, scientific or social research which will improve outcomes for people with haemophilia, von Willebrand disorder or related inherited bleeding disorders, and/or medically acquired blood borne viruses is now open. HCF Research Fund HCF Research Foundation Amount: Generally between $50,000 and $1.4 million Closing: 30 July 2013 The HCF Research Foundation is seeking Expressions of Interest from research teams interested in funding for health services research to begin in January 2014 that will improve the quality, safety and value of health care in Australia. EOI’s are invited for projects aimed at extending or implementing evidence based medicine for reducing unplanned and/or unwarranted variation in hospital care:

Decision aids for patients and clinicians. Clinical appropriateness indicators for high volume and/or high cost procedures

that result in significant financial burden to the health system. Strategies to reduce the use of practices with limited evidence based benefits. Understanding, and influencing if appropriate, variation in: Transfer rates to other health services such as rehabilitation or hospital in the

home type care. How devices, procedures, diagnosis tests and other resources are selected by

clinicians.

Applications involving collaborations between investigators from a range of backgrounds, especially including career researchers, practicing clinicians, policy makers, and the private sector, will be given priority. Applications will be assessed on scientific merit as well their ability to affect meaningful change to health services provision. An expression of interest is required by midnight 30 July 2013. No applications will be accepted after this date. Applications will only be accepted using the form available from the HCF website (hcf.com.au/foundation). The Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grants The Ian Potter Cultural Trust Amount: up to $7,000 Closing: Tuesday 3 September 2013

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust was established in 1993 by The Ian Potter Foundation to encourage and support the diversity and excellence of emerging Australian artists.The Trust offers grants of up to $7,000 to assist early career artists of exceptional talent to undertake professional development, usually overseas. The Ian Potter Cultural Trust's philosophy of development of the Arts through support of talented individuals is unique in Australia. Since it was established, more than 1000 artists have been supported by grants totalling over $3.4 million. The Trust funds nationally, and across the spectrum of the Arts from visual arts to performing arts and music to literature, spanning traditional art forms right through to experimental mediums. Inger Rice Foundation Grants Inger Rice Foundation Amount: Up to $5,000 Closing: Ongoing The Inger Rice Foundation established in 1973 through the initiative of Inger Rice – wife of the then Ambassador of the United States to Australia. The Foundation is a voluntary organisation consisting of seven trustees. One trustee is appointed from the American embassy. The second is a professional health worker and five are selected from diverse sections of the community. The Foundation is a small organisation that seeks to fund incorporated organisations involved with supporting relationships between young children and their families/carers, in particular, children from pre-birth to primary school entry (0-5) within Australia. Preference is given to those from disadvantaged communities. The Foundation’s objective is to promote children’s health, welfare and development. The Foundation may offer financial assistance for:

Early intervention programs Family support programs Resources Training required for implementation of program

The Foundation seeks to support programs for specific and unique projects. The Foundation requires assurance that other funding is available to complete the project or program when partial funding is approved. Funding of up to $5000 may be granted. Assistance to grantees is limited to once every three years. The Foundation does not have a standard application form. Submissions should include:

Submissions are considered at meetings of the Foundation which occur approximately every six to eight weeks. Please provide seven copies of the submission. The Foundation

LPG Vehicle Scheme AusIndustry Amount: $1,000 Closes: Ongoing The LPG Vehicle Scheme provides grants for the LPG conversion of a registered motor vehicle or the purchase of a new vehicle fitted with LPG prior to first registration, subject to eligibility criteria. The Program Delegate can declare a waiver to LPG Vehicle Scheme - Claiming a Second Grant rule in response to the Australian disaster relief arrangements. Since 1 July 2011 the LPG Vehicle Scheme has been capped at 25,000 eligible claims paid in each financial year, for the duration of the scheme to 30 June 2014. Should the 25,000 cap be reached before the end of a financial year, application processing will continue and eligible claims will be paid in the following financial year. Grant amounts for eligible applications will be determined from the date of vehicle LPG conversion or new LPG vehicle purchase. As a registered vehicle owner you are entitled to apply for an LPG Vehicle Scheme grant up to 12 months after the date of the LPG conversion or new LPG vehicle purchase. Make the Difference Future 2 Amount: Various Closing Date: 31 July 2013 2013 Make the Difference! grants are open to applications from community not-for-profits and charities whose work is supporting disadvantaged young Australians. Each grant application must have the support of a financial planning professional in its local area and must be submitted by close of business Wednesday 31 July 2013. New grants will be announced in October.

Migrant Communities Employment Fund Australian Government Amount: Up to $200,000 per project. Total pool $6.6 million over 2 years Closing: 19 July 2013 (round 1) The Migrant Communities Employment Fund will support organisations to develop and implement innovative projects that help unemployed and underemployed migrant and refugee job seekers prepare for and gain sustainable employment or progress their careers. The Migrant Communities Employment Fund is designed to complement and enhance existing government programs that help migrants and refugees, including Humanitarian Settlement Services and the Adult Migrant English Program. The Migrant Communities Employment Fund will encourage effective engagement between employers, employment service providers and community organisations, in order to:

improve employment outcomes for refugee and migrant job seekers

enhance connections between communities, government, industry and service providers to help migrant and refugee job seekers gain sustainable employment

increase the capacity of employers to employ refugee and migrant workers improve understanding of how to best support migrant and refugee job seekers

and their employers provide best practice models that could be replicated to other locations and

groups of migrants and refugees.

Under the Migrant Communities Employment Fund, projects can be funded up to $200,000 each and for a maximum of two years. The applications for the first round of Migrant Communities Employment Fund opened on Wednesday, 3 July 2013. The applications for the first round close at 5.00 pm (AEST), Friday, 19 July 2013. Rapid Response Innovation Awards Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) Amount: One year grants of up to $75,000 Closes: Ongoing

RRIA supports innovative, high-risk, high-reward projects tackling critical scientific and therapeutic roadblocks that, if successful, open new avenues for Parkinson’s disease (PD) therapy development. The program accelerates work in real time through the use of a unique rolling submission deadline and six-weeks-or-less funding decisions. The program is well suited to projects with little-to-no existing preliminary data, but where hypothetical rationale is highly compelling and study results can make the case for continuing (or discontinuing) a line of research. Established in 1991, the Register of Cultural Organisations assists qualifying cultural bodies to attract support by enabling them to offer donors the incentive of a tax deduction.

The Register aims to strengthen private sector support for the arts and encourages Australians to contribute to the nation's vibrant cultural life.

Cultural bodies listed on the Register are able to receive tax deductible donations to assist them with a wide range of activities, such as the creation of a new theatrical work, the publication of a literary magazine or the building of a community arts centre.

Cultural bodies eligible for listing on the Register are those whose principal purpose is the promotion of a cultural activity such as: literature; visual, community, performing or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts; music; crafts; design; television; video; radio; film; or movable cultural heritage.

Public art galleries, museums and libraries are generally not included on the Register as they are approved by the Australian Taxation Office under another Deductible Gift Recipient category.

The Minister responsible for the Arts and the Treasurer approve new appointments to the Register, which is administered by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) operates the Sport Incentive Program, which aims to increase opportunities for Australians to:

Registration with the ASF enables eligible organisations to seek tax deductible donations

Donations received by the ASF form a pool of funds that are available to be granted to registered projects.

years or under, in their immediate family.

Think Tanks National Breast Cancer Foundation Amount: up to $15,000 Closing: Ongoing (applications to be lodged at least a month before event)

The aim of Think Tanks is to bring together groups of investigators, recognised experts in their respective fields, with complementary abilities to formulate convincing plans for specific, collaborative projects, to allocate research roles and tasks, and to identify necessary resources. As an example, an interdisciplinary group with a focus on imaging could include radiologists, physicists with imaging expertise, cell biologists, clinicians, and computer engineering and programming experts.

Applications are invited from collaborative groups of interdisciplinary investigators, to convene a workshop with the scope to further develop a significant larger-scale, cutting-edge national research program and/or infrastructure program. The NBCF’s expectation is that a group would consist of 3 – 6 investigators.

Applications are invited from the entire continuum of breast cancer research, from basic science to prevention, treatment and care, insofar as the proposed collaborations have the potential to develop a program to help prevent breast cancer, improve survival and/or enhance quality of life.

The basis for submitting a proposal for a Think Tank is to facilitate development of strategic research partnerships and the research program and to encourage identification of critical infrastructure and external financial support for competitive applications.

Who should apply? Applications are invited from the entire continuum of breast cancer research, from basic science to prevention, treatment and care. The proposed collaborations must have the potential to develop a program to help prevent breast cancer, enhance quality of life and improve survival.

Amount and Duration of Funding The NBCF will provide funding support for Think Tanks up to a maximum value of $15,000 each, to support items such as travel costs of participants, venue hire, catering (excluding alcohol) and formal facilitation. Funding is not available to support dinners, cocktail functions, social and fundraising events, memberships, or the publication of

‘coffee-table books’.

Wage Connect Australian Government Amount: The Wage Connect subsidy is paid to the employer and is approximately $5,900 for each job placement - this is around $230 per week (pre-GST). Closing: Ongoing

Wage Connect is a subsidy for employers who provide employment on a continuing basis to a long-term unemployed job seeker. The incentive can offset the cost of wages and training for the first six months a person is in a job.
