ARE YOU READY FOR GRADE 11?
• All grade 11 students must have 16 credits by the end of Grade 10.
• Students who do not meet these requirements should attend Summer School.
• Summer School Offering come out at the end of May (4 weeks in July). If you take a course with a school board other than HCDSB you will need to provide us with a report card.
REACH AHEAD CREDITS
• Students who wish to reach ahead can also take summer school (course offerings and registration forms will be available end of May) You should apply as soon as they become available in order to reserve yourself a spot. Listen to announcements and check the website for more information.
• Help improve understanding and build foundation in that subject area.
• Travel abroad with different organizations such as EduTravel.
✓ EduTravel, in partnership with Ontario public and private school boards, offers an innovative Travel for Credit Program. Students will have the opportunity to travel across Canada and beyond, earning a wide variety of Ontario high school credits in a safe and fun environment. Course offerings during March Break and Summer (July).

• SHSM – Fitness and Health Promotion and Arts and Culture – apply on myBlueprint
Each SHSM program offers students a bundle of 8 - 10 credits. These courses are regular Ontario secondary school courses that allow students to work towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, but have been bundled as the most relevant courses to prepare students for a future in the Sports or Arts sector.
• Co-op – 2 credit co-op in various community placements (see Ms. Moore or Mr. Spadafora) application required
• Students also get the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and certifications.

COLLEGE ADMISSION GUIDELINES
• OSSD
• All Gr. 11 & 12 high school grades are sent to colleges (full disclosure)
• Most programs will use an average of 6 best senior level credits (Grade 11 and 12) ENG4C is usually required for most programs
• Some colleges will only use the grades of the required courses – English, Math, Science etc.
• Specific courses and grades may be required.

• Some programs are highly competitive, so apply right away before the deadline
• Colleges also offer Applied Degrees which need 6 Grade 12 U or M course (Required marks usually lower that University)
UNIVERSITY ADMISSION GUIDELINES
• OSSD
• universities may consider both Grade 11 and 12 U and M courses for early admission
• Almost every university program requires ENG 4U + 5 other U or M courses at the grade 12 level
• Some programs will have other pre-requisites such as math, specific science courses
• Make sure you do your research. Not every university has the same requirements for similar or the same program.

Making Course Level Choices
• Carefully consider your teacher’s recommendations
• Consider your learning skills (initiative, homework completion, problem solving, independent work etc.)
• Carefully consider your interests and possible career goals
• You can choose to take a combination of applied and academic courses. (i.e. academic English, applied math, applied science)
Secondary Diploma Requirements
• 30 credits:

• Successful completion of the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
