Program Overview We provide training in secondary schools both public and private, around Queensland under the Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) program. The VETiS program provides eligible Queenslanders to receive fee-free training under the VET investment budget to earn a Nationally Recognised Qualification on completion and extra QCE points.

VET is learning which is directly related to work. Nationally recognised qualifications are developed by industry, to give people the knowledge and skills they need to work in a particular job.

What are the benefits? • We come to you! Delivering real world training

• VETiS is fee-free for students! Funded by the VETinvestment budget, VETiS will be fee-free foreligible students.

• 4 QCE points for students that complete thequalification

• Students receive a Nationally RecognisedQualification on completion

• HLT3215 Certificate II in Health Support Services(Health Administration)

The Funding VETiS qualifications funded by the VET investment budget are listed on the Queensland Training Subsidies List. These qualifications are delivered by RTOs who have been approved by DET as pre-qualified suppliers (PQS) under the Certificate 3 Guarantee. Schools, in consultation with students and their parents, are able to choose any PQS for the eligible qualification.

VETiS qualifications on the Queensland Training Subsidies List are at the Certificate II level. Students who wish to access the VET investment budget to undertake a Certificate III qualification should do so as a school-based apprentice or trainee (SAT).

Eligibility Criteria The following eligibility criteria must be met by students wishing to enrol into a qualification under the VETiS program:

• Be enrolled in Year 10-12 at a QLD secondary school

• Permanently reside in QLD

• Must not hold or be studying a Certificate I or II level qualification funded under VETiS, unless enrolment and/or completion fell pre 1st of July 2014 in which case entitlement still stands for VETiS funding.

Please note once you have completed a qualification using this funding you will no longer be entitled to further funding.

Program Overview The Higher-Level Skills program provides eligible individuals with access to one subsidised training place in selected certificate IV level and above qualifications or priority skill sets. The Higher-Level Skills program aims to assist individuals to gain the skills required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry, or to transition to university to further their studies.

Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for the Higher-Level Skills Program, individuals must:

• Be aged 15 years or over and no longer at school

• Permanently reside in Queensland

• Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident(includes humanitarian entrant). Temporary resident withthe necessary visa and work permits on the pathway topermanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen

• Not hold and not be enrolled in a Certificate IV, or higherlevel not including qualifications completed at school andfoundation skills training

• Be working in the industry for Commercial Cookery, SmallBusiness Management, Hospitality and Retail qualifications

• Hold a relevant trade qualification for Commercial Cookery

Please note once you have completed a qualification using this funding you will no longer be entitled to further funding.

Contribution Fee Students are required to contribute to the cost of your training through a co-contribution fee. The Contribution Fee is only $199.00 Non-concessional or $99.00 Concessional (for definition see Concessional Status).

Concessional Status Concessional Student status applies when:

• The student holds a health care concession card orpensioner concession card issued under

• Commonwealth law, or is the partner or a dependant ofa person who holds a health care concession card orpensioner concession card and is named on the card

• The student provides the PQS with an official formunder Commonwealth law confirming that the student, his or her partner or the person of whom the student is a dependant, is entitled to concessions undera health care or pensioner concession card.

• The student is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

• The student has a disability

• The student is an adult prisoner

Program Overview The principal aim of Certificate 3 Guarantee is targeted at working age Queenslanders without a Certificate III or higher qualification, to complete a nationally recognised qualification that will lead to:

• A job for individuals wanting to enter theworkforce in their chosen field.

• Advancement in the workplace or careerprogression for individuals already employedin their chosen field.

Program Overview Apprenticeships and traineeships combine training with working in a real job, for a real boss, with a real wage. Apprentices and trainees complete a nationally recognised qualification while learning valuable skills at work and under the guidance of a training organisation.

The Australian Government also provides support and financial help to eligible apprentices and trainees via various assistance programs and allowances.

As an employer, taking on an apprentice or trainee can have many advantages to your business. Employers may benefit from state and Australian Government incentives for employing an apprentice or trainee.

Quick facts • Apprenticeships and traineeships can be full-time,

part-time, or school-based

• Existing employees may undertake anapprenticeship or traineeship.

• Apprenticeships and traineeships requireemployers to enter into a training contract withthe apprentice or trainee.

• Employers work with CA and the apprentice ortrainee to draw up a training plan.

• Training options must be negotiated and outlinedin the training plan. Aspects of training that areopen to negotiation (subject to training packagerequirements) include: selection, content andsequencing or competency units, timing, locationand mode of delivery, and the trainer or facilitator.

Apprentices and trainees Apprentices are trained in a skilled trade, such as commercial cookery, electrical, plumbing, cabinet-making and automotive. Upon completion, apprentices become a qualified tradesperson. Traineeship participants can be trained in a number of areas which include but not limited to: office administration, information technology and tourism. Upon successful completion, a trainee will receive a qualification in their chosen vocational area.

Financial Incentives Financial incentives you may be eligible for*:

• Australian Government standard Commencementand Completion Incentives ranging from $750 toover $4,000

• Training award pay rates (if required)

• Exemption or rebates from payroll tax (whereapplicable)

• Exemption of apprentice’s wages from workerscompensation premium calculations

• Extra incentives to assist in the employment ofunder-represented groups such as Mature Age,School-based and Indigenous Australians andapprentices or trainees with disability

• A number of extra incentives which are availablefor certain areas or qualifications.

*Incentives are subject to eligibility criteria, waiting periods and time limits being met.

Wages, some entitlements and wage progression are managed by the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Program Overview School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs) help young people to go places, whether that's a full-time job, a trade career, university, TAFE or other training. The workplace skills and confidence they gain during their SAT provide a solid foundation for any career.

SATs allow high school students to combine school and training with working in a real job, with a real boss, for a real wage. This gives them experience in the work force in their chosen field (user choice funding).

Eligibility School based traineeship or apprenticeship must impact on their school timetable to be considered school based. Minimum paid work – 375 hours (50 days) per 12 months. Minimum students must work is an average of 7.5 hours per week. They may be required to do this during school hours. Students may be in Grade 10, 11 or 12.

If the qualification is not completed as school based they can be converted to part/full time (fees apply) speak with your consultant for further details.

QCE Points for Students Students may gain up to 8 points towards their Queensland Certificate of Education on completion of their qualification.

Employer Incentives School-based apprentices and trainees can strengthen your business by training people in skills that meet the needs of the business, while helping build the broader skills base needed to keep an industry strong.

There may also be financial benefits available from government agencies to help with the costs of employing a school-based apprentice or trainee.

Employer Incentives that may be paid:

• $750.00 (commencement Incentive) paid at 6months

• $1,500.00 (Traineeship/Apprenticeship Incentive)paid at 6 months

• $2,500.00 (Traineeship/Apprenticeship Incentive)paid on completion

• $750.00 (Retention Incentive) paid if student isretained for 3 months after completing school

• Students can work weekends and public holidays aslong as the above criteria is met.

Program Overview The User Choice 2016-17 program provides a public funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment services for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees. The program aims to provide funding aligned to the skill needs of industry and respond to changing government priorities.

Eligibility Please refer to an Australian apprenticeship centre for up to date information.

Grade 12 Graduates Year 12 graduates are eligible for fee free training when they commence an apprenticeship within 1 year of completing Grade 12. This relates to high priority qualifications.

Full Time Traineeships 38 hours per week – employed less than 3 months Employer Incentives of up to $4,000.00 as follows:-

• $1,500.00 paid at 6 months

• $2,500.00 paid on completion

Part Time Traineeships Minimum of 15 hours and employed less than 12 months or casual. Employer Incentives of $1,500.00 paid on completion.

User Choice Apprenticeships Apprentices must be working minimum 15 hours per week. A trade support interest free loan of up to $18,000 may be available to the apprentice.

Employer Incentives Up to $4,000.00 as follows:

• $1,500.00 paid at 6 months

• $2,500.00 paid on completion

In the event the apprentice is 25 years of age or over and is receiving $656.90 per week gross - an additional incentive to the employer of $4,000.00 may be payable after 12 months of the apprenticeship. A further $1,000.00 may be payable to the employer after 6 months if the business qualifies as regional i.e. outer Brisbane.

Fees/Concessional Fees These can vary according to eligibility as a concessional student and/or unit selection. Discuss this with your sales consultant to determine eligibility for concession.
