• Unit Three o Reading for Meaning o Love Through the Ages: students explore literature from the time of Chaucer to the present day, considering the presentation of a
range of themes, including power and gender. Students will learn about the literary arc, tracing key social and literary movements across the centuries. Students are taught salient texts in lesson, but are also expected to conduct their own wide and ambitious private reading throughout the entire year.
o One exam paper Ques 1: Compare two unseen extracts of the same genre, considering how the writers use form, structure and language to present their ideas. Approximately 30% of the essay should show knowledge of wider reading from the same genre. Quotations and close references to wider reading should be used to explain how what ideas or styles have persisted over the centuries and what has changed. Ques 2: Compare two unseen extracts of the two remaining genres, considering how the writers use form, structure and language to present their ideas. Approximately 30% of the essay should show knowledge of wider reading. Quotations and close references to wider reading should be used to explain how what ideas or styles have persisted over the centuries and what has changed. Pupils must refer to at least three wider reading texts, covering all three genres of poetry, prose and drama.
• Unit Four o Extended Essay and Shakespeare Study 3000 word essay comparing three texts, one of which must be a Shakespeare play. Students are taught the Shakespeare play “Antony and Cleopatra, but pupils then negotiate their coursework essay titles and text choices with class teachers. Essays must contain a sense of debate and engage with critical views and/or alternative interpretations of their text.

Year 7
Content
Year 7 is grouped into 5 sets for Mathematics. During the year, pupils have covered a variety of work on Number, Algebra, Shape, Space and Measure and Handling Data. Particular emphasis has been placed on the use of mental and written methods, rather than the use of a calculator. The topics have been organised into 15 separate units, largely covering work from level 3 up to level 6. Each unit has a number of core teaching objectives which should have been taught to all pupils across the ability range. However, those pupils in the top two sets will have also been extended beyond this and likewise, those pupils in set 5 may have needed additional support work if they are working below level 3. Pupils sat an internal examination in the Summer Term.
Year 8
Content
Year 8 is grouped into 5 sets for Mathematics. Pupils have built upon the work covered in Year 7. During the year, pupils have covered a variety of work on Number, Algebra, Shape, Space and Measure and Handling Data. Topics have been organised into 12 separate units, largely covering work from level 4 up to level 7. Each unit has a number of core teaching objectives which should have been taught to all pupils across the ability range. However, those pupils in the top two sets will have also been extended beyond this and likewise, those pupils in set 5 may have needed additional support work if they are working below level 4. Pupils sat an internal examination in the Summer Term.
Year 9
Content
Year 9 is grouped into 5 sets for Mathematics. Pupils have built upon the work covered in Years 7 and 8 in order to prepare them for starting the GCSE course. During the year, pupils have covered work on Number, Algebra, Shape, Space and Measure and Handling Data. Topics have been organised into separate units, largely covering work from level 5 up to level 8. Each set has worked through these units at a different pace and from a different starting point, depending on the pupils’ ability level. Some pupils in set 5 may have needed additional support work if they are working below level 5. Pupils sat an internal examination in the Spring Term and will take an additional examination in the Summer Term in order to give them an End of Key Stage 3 Level.
