Goodbye Beaming Bunnies!
We are each unique and beautiful but together we are a masterpiece.
Can you remember?...
At the start of the year we went on a Magical Mystery Tour.
We learnt all about the different countries in the UK and a far away Market Town called Marrakech.
We also learnt all about our local area of Hasland.
We went across the road to the Baptist Church. Pastor John told us lots of things about the building and sang us a song and played his guitar.
Then we went on an exciting tour around Hasland.
We Went to the Park
and around the shops.
Next we went on our flying carpets around the UK.
Terry wanted to learn about the UK.
First we went to Scotland and leant about the Loch Ness Monster. Then we went to Ireland and discovered a story about how the Giants Causeway was made.
On our adventures we visited Wales and learnt about the Welsh Dragon. We went to Cornwall and found a recipe for scones so we followed it and made delicious scones.
Finally we went on an amazing trip to Marrakesh! We talked about what we could hear, see and smell as we travelled around the market.
During Friendship Week we helped Something Else become a good friend.
Our next topic was all about Celebrations!
We learnt about Diwali.
A box of party treats arrived for us and we wrote our own stories all about a birthday party which went wrong. We then learnt about the celebration of Christmas and the story of the nativity.
We created our own Diva lamps from clay to celebrate Diwali and we made Mendhi Patterns.
We learnt all about Diwali and wrote to Terry to tell him what we had learnt.
We thought about why we celebrate Remembrance. Paolo as our School Council representive put a wreath we made in front of the Town Hall.
We had a fantastic trip to Matlock Farm Park where we met the animals, took part in a Nativity play with real animals and met Santa!
We did a fantastic Christmas play for all our grown ups. We were very brave standing up in front of an audience.
We had a great time at our Christmas party.
Our next topic was called Once Upon a Time
We looked at lots of different fairy tales.
Some magic beans appeared in our classroom and we had to plant them and see what we thought might grow.
The next day a giant beanstalk had grown and we learnt all about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
• Jack and B pics • Jack and B Pics
We used our imaginations to think about what could be at the top of the beanstalk. We had some fantastic ideas! We made a plan of what we thought it looked like and then we made it!
We chose our favourite Fairy-tale character and painted them, mixing our own colours. They looked brilliant on our classroom wall!
Multicultural week
• We were lucky enough to have a multicultural week in school where we learnt all about Japan. We chose Japan because it was the country that was going to host the Olympics
• We took part in a Japanese drumming workshop and a Jiu Jitsuclass.
• We also created some art in the style of Japanese artist KusamaYayoi.
• At the end of the week we had an Olympic ceremony in the hall and we performed a dance as representatives of the UK. We all won a gold medal!
Do you remember the Jiu Jitsu workshop?
We were amazing at Japanese drumming when we made a sound story for a traditional Japanese tale.
We rehearsed our Olympic ceremony dance before we performed it for the whole school!
We tasted Japanese food.
We created art in the style of the Japanese artist Kusama Yayoi
The title of our next topic was ‘Tickle Your Tastebuds.’
We followed clues and found a disgusting sandwich. It was slimy, dirty and had spiders and insects on it!
We made a fruit salad. We tasted it too!
We looked carefully at fruit and made some observational drawings.
We loved doing baking with Mrs Savage.
We have been global guardians this year and closely watched the oak tree grow.
• We have always tried to turn the lights off when leaving the classroom.
• We have recycled our paper.
We have done some great learning in maths.
We have worked very hard!
We have been learning to tell the time.
We have had stories in the library and have chosen new books.
This was our amazing winter trees display that we put up in the corridor.
Kevin was very generous giving out kindness hearts when he spotted us being kind.
Some of us have been a Star of the Month and lots of us have been Smile Superstars!
To us you have all been stars. We will miss you all!
