And he called him and said to him, `What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.' And the steward said to himself, `What shall I do, since my master is taking the stewardship away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. I have decided what to do, so that people may receive me into their houses when I am put out of the stewardship.' So, summoning his master's debtors one by one, he said to the first, `How much do you owe my master?' He said, `A hundred measures of oil.' And he said to him, `Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.' Then he said to another, `And how much do you owe?' He said, `A hundred measures of wheat.' He said to him, `Take your bill, and write eighty.' The master commended the dishonest steward for his shrewdness; for the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light." If Christians would only expend as much foresight and energy to spiritual matters, which have eternal consequences, as they do to earthly matters which have temporal consequences, then they would be truly better off, both in this life and in the age to come. FROM THE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT OFFICE: Please take note of the changes in the scheduled Grade 5 KAPAYAPAAN Exposure and Outreach Activities:

DATE OF KAPAYAPAAN

DLSL PARTNER SCHOOL

November 28 BB 302 Paninsingin Elem. School November 15 BB 303 Paninsingin Elem. School November 29 BB 305 Tibig Elem. School

The Exposure and Outreach Activities will be held from 8:00AM to 11:30AM at the DLSL Retreat Complex. The afternoon will be allocated for a session (same venue) to be handled by the Institutional Lasallian Formation Office (ILFO). FROM THE OVCM – SPORTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICE: A. On Inter Division Meet

1. The Inter-Division Meet (Provincial Meet) will be held from November 25 – 29, 2019 here at Lipa City. Our school will be sending 174 student athletes who will represent the Division of Lipa. In preparation for the tournament, a pull out training is from October 28 to November 24. The academic guidelines set by the Academic Council in coordination with the Sports Development Office has been discussed to the athletes last October 28.

2. To the subject teachers: The concerned student-athletes have started to process the pull out form yesterday. Thank you for accommodating them.

3. Below is the modified grading system to be used in the computation of the 2nd quarter grades of the concerned student athletes.

Modified Grading System

Inter-Division Meet, RSC and Palarong Pambansa are the tournaments where the participating student-athletes are pulled out from classes for a prolonged period of time due to practices and games. Schedule of pull out is based on the memorandum released by DepEd. Student-Athletes are excused from their classes in the duration of the pull-out training (except for those whose parents opted their children not to be pulled out during

11

practices) and the actual competition. As such, it is necessary that a different grading system be applied for the student-athletes concerned.

A. For Pulled Out Athletes during Practices and Tournament Proper

In order to obtain the quarter grades of the participating student-athletes, the following shall be applied: 1. The student-athletes will accomplish the activities/assessments on the lessons taken before the

pull out. (if pull out is week/weeks after the start of the quarter) 2. Pulled out athletes will be provided with specific learning materials, activity sheets and

assessment tools in the different subject areas through Canvas. The subject teachers will prepare 3 summative activities / assessments (Written Works / Practical Test) about the lessons that were discussed during the period of pull out.

3. The student-athletes can take the exam within or after the pull out period upon coordination with the subject teacher. At least one (1) assessment among the 3 summative assessments must test the student-athletes’ critical thinking and other higher-order thinking skills (QA-like assessment).

4. The required summative assessments should be administered during a face-to-face session with the subject teacher.

5. The IS Sports Supervisors and the respective coaches will monitor the compliance of the student-athletes and will coordinate with the subject teachers and vice versa.

6. The pulled-out student-athletes will no longer take the Quarterly Assessment. 7. The pulled-out student-athletes will accomplish the CAPSTONE initiatives (CI). 8. The quarter grade will be computed based on 70% Written Works /Oral Assessments /

Practical Tests and 30% CAPSTONE initiatives 9. Submission of the subject requirements will be extended at most two (2) weeks after the

Quarterly Assessment week. 10. A separate grading worksheet will be used. Submission of quarterly grades will be done two

weeks after the scheduled regular submission of quarterly grades. 11. (For SHS only) Athletes who are enrolled in the following courses should report to the Subject

Area Chairs concerned for instruction: Practical Research 1, Practical Research 2, Work Immersion/CAPSTONE, and Inquire.

B. For Pulled-Out Athletes during Selected Tournament Related Tasks (Medical/Dental

Check Up, Uniform Fitting and Solidarity Meeting) and Tournament Proper Only 1. Student-Athletes whose parents opted not to have them pulled out from classes during practices

will be asked to submit a letter of intent signed by the athlete, parents and coach to the Sports Office (cc: AP, Subject Area Chairs and Subject Area Coordinators).

2. These student-athletes will take all the requirements given to regular students. They are ONLY excused on the activities / assessments given while pulled out for tournament related tasks and tournament proper.

3. They will take the Quarterly Assessment covering all the lessons on the scheduled QA dates or on a special schedule if the tournament proper falls on the scheduled QA dates.

4. Same percentage distribution with the regular students on WW/OA, QA and CAPSTONE will be used.

5. If needed, a separate grading worksheet will be used and submission of quarterly grades will be done two weeks after the scheduled regular submission of quarterly grades.
