Safety Information

To guarantee the safety of the operators, the correct installation and proper operation of the equipment, the following precautions must be taken:

● Installation and maintenance services should be performed only by qualified personnel, using appropriate equipment;

● The product instruction manual and specific product documentation must always be consulted before proceeding with its installation, handling and parameter setting;

● Adequate precautions should be taken to avoid drops, knocks and/or risks to the operators and the equipment;

Do not touch the input and output connectors since high voltages may be present even after the power has been switched off and keep them isolated from the rest of the principal command circuit of the panel.

Always disconnect the main power supply and wait for the machine to come to a complete stop, before touching any electrical component associated with the equipment including the control connectors. Do not open the cover without taking due precautions, because high voltages can be present even after the supply has been disconnected.

The equipment’s electronic boards can have components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Do not directly touch components or connections. If this is absolutely necessary, then first touch the grounded metal body or use the proper ground bracelet.

Storage Information

Should it be necessary to store the equipment, as well as any of its parts, i.e., electronic boards, panels, electronic components, spare parts, etc..., for a short period of time prior to their installation and/or placing them in operating condition, the following precautions should be observed:

● The equipment and its parts must be kept in their original packaging or in packaging which provides the same safety conditions concerning physical damage, high temperatures and humidity, to prevent oxidation of the contacts and metal parts, damage to integrated circuits or any other damage due to improper storing;

● The properly packaged equipment must be stored in a dry, well ventilated place away from direct sunlight, rain, wind and other adverse weather conditions, to guarantee the preservation of its functional characteristics;

The non-observance of the above recommendations, could exempt the company supplying the equipment from any responsibility referring to the resulting damages as well as the loss of warranty of the equipment or of the damaged part.

1 1 IINTRODUCTIONNTRODUCTION

The GMT6-C is a digital temperature monitor that allows visualization, monitoring and simultaneous protection of six temperature channels, using RS485 communication. Used for protection of machines, transformers and industrial processes.

Uses GCS converters to transform the voltage signals of the temperature transducers into current signals, reducing noise and interference when measuring.

Power supply voltage: Indicates the equipment power supply. Generally supplied with 24Vdc or 125Vdc, according to the equipment model.

Output: Indicates the quantity and the output type of the equipment. For example, two outputs to relay with normally open and normally closed contacts.

Power: Indicates the power consumed by the equipment when in operation.

Sensor type: Indicates the sensor type that is compatible with the equipment (Pt100, Copper10, and others).

Program version: Indicates the equipment software version.

The equipment must be plugged in to th proper power supply according to the specified voltage stated in the identification label, with the following ranges:

Power supply:

• 24V (10 Vdc – 35 Vdc / 10 Vac – 24 Vac)

• 125V (90 Vdc – 350 Vdc / 70 Vac – 245 Vac)

NOTE: See the connection diagram on item 07.

6 6 G GENERALENERAL D DESCRIPTIONESCRIPTION

UP key – this key has two functions:

• Advance one screen;

• Increase in 1 (one) the programmed limit, when the cursor is blinking.

DOWN key - this key has two functions:

• Return one screen;

• Decrease in 1 (one) the programmed limit, when the cursor is blinking.

ENTER key – this key has four functions:

• When pressd while on the main screen, it turns off the indication LEDs and disables the relays.

• When pressed while on the screen that contains the maximum values, it resets the maximum values reached.

• When pressed while on the screen that contains the limits, it allows the alteration of the parameter using the UP and DOWN keys ( the cursor will be blinking)

• When pressed while the cursor is blinking, it saves the value of the limit.

It signals communication. When the GMT6c is communicating with another unit this signal will be

blinking.

When blinking it signals that the microprocessor is working properly. This signal must be always

blinking. If it is not, the quipment is not working correctly.

It signals alarms and protections:

• When blinking it signals an alarm, that is, the temperature of the corresponcing channel has surpassed the first limit.

• When lit constantly, it signals a protection, that is, the temperature of the channel has surpassed the second limit.

• Use armored cables between the GMT6-C connectors (channel 1 to 6) and the GCSPT100;

• Preferably supply the GMT6-C using a power supply bus bar different from the one used to supply the panel contactors.

• The GSPT100 must be as close as possible to the temperature sensor used.

9 9 PPROGRAMMINGROGRAMMING

Screen 1 – In this screen, the 6 measured temperatures are shown. By pressing the ENTER key in this screen, the alarms and protections ocurred will be reset.

Screen 2 – Shows the maximum values reached by channels 1, 2 and 3. By pressing the ENTER key in this screen, the alarms and protections ocurred will be reset.

Screen 3 – Shows the maximum values reached by channel 4, 5 and 6. By pressing the ENTER key in this screen, the alarms and protections ocurred will be reset.

From Screen 4 to 9 the alarm limits (Relay1) and protection limits (Relay2) for each channel are shown. These limits can be modified by pressing the enter key while in these screens. The cursor will blink on the first limit, which can be altered by pressing the up or down keys until reaching the desired value. You can then press "enter" to save it. The cursor will then blink on the second limit, which can be altered using the previous procedure.

Screen 10 - Shows the maximum temperature variation rate. This parameter shows the maximum temperature variation rate that the GMT6c can accept. If the temperature varies faster than the programmed value, the variation will be limited to that value. This parameter is to filter noise in noisy environments. Great care must be taken when programming this paramenter,because if set two low it can cause the protection to ocurr too late. It is recommended that this parameter is set to 250 initially and only modified if noise problems arise

10 10 CCALIBRATIONALIBRATIONFor a fine adjustment of the measured temperatures, turn on the GMT6-C while pressing the “up” and “down” keys together. Two other screens with the gains of each input will appear. These gains can be adjusted to obtain a more accurate measurement.

11 11 MMESSAGESESSAGESWhen the measured temperature is higher than 250°, the display will show the message ´error´. Even then, if the limit of the each input is different from ‘OFF´, the alarm will actuate normally.

If there is no PT100 connected to the GMT6-C input or if the measured temperature is lower than 1º, it will show: ´---´.

For safety reasons, the alarms of the inputs that are not connected must be turned off.

12 12 CCOMMUNICATIONOMMUNICATIONThe GMT6-C communicates via Modbus RTU communication plus functions 3 and 6, which are

described below. The parameter addresses are described on tables 1 and 3.

• Function 3

Function 3 is used to read one or more equipment parameters.Example: to read channel 1 temperature, the computer must read position 40 (hexadecimal) of the GMT6-C. Let's suppose that the GMT6-C address is 01:

Function 6 is used to write in a parameter on the equipment.

Example: To change alarm limit of the channel 1, the computer must write at the 20 position (hexadecimal) of the GMT6-C. For example, let's suppose that the GMT6-C address is 01:
