The GL&V/Dorr-Oliver drumManu factured to exact ing tolerances

drying, and cake discharge. The

piping arrangement assures a

smooth even flow of l iquid and air.

This res ul t s in maximum vacuum a t

the w orking surface of the drum,

which in turn produces higher

fi ltering rate s. The fi l trate piping

design i s t a i lored to me et the

specific needs. The drum is fi t ted

wi th s tan dardized dra inage grids of

polypropylene or hea vy 5-mesh w ire

screen de pending on the app l ica t ion.

Non-lubricated torsionbearingA unique fe ature of the GL&V/Dorr-

Oliver agitator is the rubber torsion

bea ring. Because i t does not requi re

lubrication, i t prevents possible

contaminat ion of the s lurry wi th

lubricant, a common problem. Torsion

bearings las t much longer and requi re

less a t tent ion.

Our specially designed agitator is

exceptionally strong. Its boxed

const ruction virtua lly eliminat es

twist ing and f lexing, thus lengthening

the us eful li fe of the equipment . The

long swing gives plenty of rake

overlap to prevent ca ke bui ld-up on

the tank bot tom. Our method of

tors ion bearing pin mount ing pe rmits

the a gi ta tor to remain in line wi th the

fil ter drum at all t imes, thereby

el iminat ing the dan ger of drive a nd

agi ta tor dama ge during insta l la t ion,

maintenance , or replacement w ork.

Worm/Gear filter driveOur fi l ter drive consists of an enclosed

variable spee d reducer and a ruggedly

const ruc ted worm a nd w orm gear. This

i s a big maintenan ce saver compared to

the chain drive found on many fi l ters.

The Scraper discharge i s the s implest and mos t versat i le me thod of

d ischarg ing the cake. The s craper system is counter-we igh ted to

to cake d ischarge, a shor t burs t o f compresse d ai r is a pp l ied w hichb i llows the clo th so i t def lects around the scraper , re leas ing the cake

and he lp ing to remove the so l ids f rom the clo th pores .

The Belt discharge i s es pecial ly usefu l when the ca ke i s s t icky, tends

to b l ind o r con tains f ine suspe nded so l ids . Wi th th is method the clo th

is con t inuously wa she d f rom bo th s ides to e l iminate b l ind ing . The

quality standards. Furthermore, the special patented GL&V/Dorr-Oliver edge-

gu ide system provides ge n t le c lo th ad herence over a wide g r ipp ing

area rather than po in t con tact , which cause s the clo th to tear.

The String discharge is used efficiently for gelatinous slurries or

f ib rous cakes which fo rm mats . A ser ies o f pa ral le l s t r ings run on top

of the f i lter c lo th . In the cake d ischarge zone, the s t r ings leave thedrum carrying fi l ter cake with i t . The strings then pass around a

system of ro ll s , d ischarg ing the ca ke before retu rn ing to the d rum.

A comb betw ee n the ro ll s removes any cake no t re lease d at the

d ischarge ro l l and e nsures un i fo rm spa cing of the s t r ings .

The Roll discha rge is us ed for very finely divide d solids, such a s

p igments o r o the r th in , s t icky cakes . These types o f cakes w ere once

dew ate red by batch fi lter p resse s . Now the ro l l d i scharge ena b les

them to be handled continuously. A roller with the axis parallel with

the d rum se rves a s d ischarge me dium. The surface s pee d of the

discharge roll is synchronized with the drum. The st icky cake transfers

from fil ter drum to the roll an d the n is scra ped off the roll. A small

hee l fo rms on the ro ll which makes the cake p ick-up eas ier.

It is particularly suited for filtration ofpigment slurries, thixotropic and

fibrous s lurr ies and those with a ten-

dency to crack during filtration, or con-

ta ining elast ic or porous substances.
