One of Ottawa’s newest and fastest growing tourist-attracting festivals, Glowfair (June 17-18, 2016) is a two-day, ten-block urban celebration that transforms Bank Street into a glowing wonderland of neon light, innovative animations and music that spills from day to night across two stages.

Our foot traffic growth since Glowfair’s inception in the summer of 2014 has been exceptional. Designed to celebrate Bank Street’s unique cultural position in Ottawa, our reach has since extended far beyond the confines of the downtown core. Together with support from Celebrate Ontario, we are now attracting visitors from Kingston, Gatineau, Montreal and Toronto.

Dear Christine Leadman,

On behalf of Members of Ottawa City Council, it is my distinct pleasure to offer my fullest moral support to the Bank Street BIA for the upcoming organization of Glowfair 2016 in the heart of Canada’s capital.

This innovative two-day festival offers family members and persons of all ages marvellous hands-on and interactive opportunities to engage with street artists in a colourful display of lights, creativity, and a diversity of entertaining music shows.

Glowfair is also an ideal forum to showcase the wide variety of specialty services and tantalizing cuisine, which Bank Street BIA member businesses have to offer in the downtown core.

Glowfair 2015 drew crowds from as far as Montréal and Upper New York State. It proved to be an important economic generator for the Bank Street BIA and the city, attracting some 45,000 visitors, as well as serving as a centre stage to put the spotlight on the wide array of local artistic talent.

As Head of Council, I look forward to the Bank Street BIA capitalizing on the success of Glowfair 2015 to achieve a new attendance record in 2016.

Ce festival novateur de deux jours donne aux familles et aux personnes de tous âges des occasions merveilleuses d’interagir directement avec des artistes de rue, dans un décor lumineux multicolore où la créativité est à l’œuvre ou au cours de spectacles musicaux divertissants.

Glowfair constitue également le cadre idéal pour mettre en vitrine la vaste gamme de services spécialisés et de cuisines gourmandes que les entreprises membres de la ZAC de la rue Bank proposent au centre-ville.

Le festival Glowfair de 2015 a attiré des foules, venues même de Montréal et du nord-ouest de l’État de New York. En amenant quelque 45 000 visiteurs et en mettant en vedette des talents artistiques locaux en tous genres, il s’est révélé être un important générateur économique pour la ZAC de la rue Bank et pour toute la ville d’ailleurs.

En tant que chef du Conseil, je ne doute pas que la ZAC de la rue Bank mettra à profit le succès obtenu par le festival Glowfair de 2015 et connaîtra un nouveau record d’affluence lors du festival de 2016.
