Mukesh Gunamal, director of global tax quality and risk management at Ernst & Young introduces the

Mukesh Gunamal FCCA

Director of global tax quality and risk management, Ernst & Young

Mukesh Gunamal works in the head office of Ernst & Young Global in London. He

was the chairman of the ACCAs Taxation Committee and is a former ACCA Council

member.

Mukesh is director of global tax quality & risk management at Ernst & Young Global

and has responsibility for ensuring and enhancing the quality of the tax practice in all respects. He also

helps manage risk for the practice. His responsibilities include responding to client service and

international network issues, development and implementation of global tax policies and procedures, and

oversight of these.

Mukesh has more than 20 years of experience within Ernst & Young servicing clients in a cross section of

areas including owner managed businesses as well as multinational companies. He has extensive

experience in managing the tax affairs of large groups both from a tax compliance perspective and

providing advice on a wide range of UK and international taxation issues.

Chas Roy-Chowdhury

Head of taxation

Chas joined the Technical Department of ACCA in 1991 after 11 years working in

private practice.

He chairs the Taxation Working Group of UEAPME (European Association of Craft,

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) and sits on the Indirect and Direct Tax Working

Parties at Fdration des Experts Comptables Europens (FEE).

He is in regular contact with Government departments including the European Commission, HM Treasury

and HM Revenue and Customs through both formal committees and ad hoc meetings. He has made

presentations on key international tax issues to the European Parliament and gives evidence on a regular

basis before parliamentary select committees, and contributed to the EU Commission consultation

process for the Common Consolidated Corporation Tax Base (CCCTB) and the VAT.

Chas spreads the message on key tax issues to the broader public and opinion formers via the media.

He makes regular appearances across local, national and international television and radio stations and

enjoys wide coverage in print media.
