Organizational development

Product design, development, and engineering

Led, actively involved in design, prototyping, development, testing, production startup, announcement and marketing of thousands of electrical component products, especially power supply cords, connectors, plugs, power strips, flexible cord and cable, and 2200VA AC power source.

Project management, collaboration and coordination of a network of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software programming engineering services.

Management of and access to design services for 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models, plastics, plastic injection mold tooling, printed circuit board assembly design and production, stamped metal components, power coat paint, copper wire and testing.

Recruitment and development of engineers, technicians, managers and other technical leaders. Product safety and regulatory compliance Electrical product safety certification Led, actively involved in acquiring global product safety agency certifications including:

Research of regulatory requirements.

Pre-compliance and design reviews.

Verification of compliance via testing.

Management of test reports and agency factory inspections (e.g. UL follow-up services).

Management of North American, European global product safety certification records, procedures.

Establish new test labs and test methods

Specify, source and or develop test lab equipment, such as Instron and Zwick tensile and elongation, micro-ohm resistance measurement, insulation resistance, flex testing, insertion and withdrawal force, abusive abrupt pull out, continuity, hipot dielectric withstance, ground bond, VW-1 vertical flame, temperature rise, heat cycling, pull to failure, crimp micrographs, ageing of plastics, 24 hour electrical burn in, Niton XRF RoHS screening, etc.

Leadership and management of test labs with hands-on involvement.

Creation of visual test lab procedures and training system.

Establishment of lab safety procedures.

Management of equipment and calibration. Writing of North American and international standards

Seventeen years of experience collaborating and leading global standards efforts, e.g. IEC/UL/CSA 60320, UL 817, CSA Spec 21, UL 62, CSA Spec 49, IEC 60799, etc.

Strong relationships with global technical leaders in industry and at test and certification agencies (CSA, UL, VDE, Intertek ASTA, etc.).

Represented manufacturer in industry associations (NEMA, IEC, UL, CSA, CANENA, ANSI, etc.).

Environmental and product compliance:

RoHS, WEEE, California Proposition 65, Conflict minerals, etc.

Procurement and purchasing

Supplier, subcontractor evaluation, auditing, selection and ongoing quality management at source.

Component sourcing and development. Technical customer service, sales and marketing

Led development and managed technical product specifications on website providing internal and external customers 24/7 availability of drawings, product safety certifications, wiring diagrams, ratings and other technical specifications.
