Any new generation ADMs like Tejas or Huawei. 3. DU meter Software, Ethreal software.(both are optional) Create two separate switches each include one RJ-45 and one GE port on any MADM. The switches should be independent from each other. Follow the below Diagram No.1. Connect RJ-45 port of the corresponding switches the Corresponding PCs. Tx of the GE2 is connected to Rx of GE1. Take out the Tx of GE1 and Rx of GE2 using patch chords. This will be the Tx and Rx pair of our GE tester. Connect the Tx and Rx of the GE link whose loop is to be tested to our meter. If the loop exists on link this completes our circuit and it establishes a GE link between the switches. See The Second diagram no2.

Data related circuits require error free Ethernet links like GE, FE links as there main backbones.

Hence there are requirement for testing the GE links and FE Links in the day to day activities of

transmission center .Keeping this in mind I tried to design a model and succeeded in implementing a GE

Tester with the existing resources available at all OFC. This model can be used for testing GE, FE links

where GE, FE analyzers are not available.

DESIGN:-

Requirements:-

1. Two Personal Computer s or at least one PC.

2. Any new generation ADMs like Tejas or Huawei.

3. DU meter Software, Ethreal software.(both are optional)

Create two separate switches each include one RJ-45 and one GE port on any MADM. The

switches should be independent from each other. Follow the below Diagram No.1. Connect

RJ-45 port of the corresponding switches the Corresponding PCs. Tx of the GE2 is connected

to Rx of GE1. Take out the Tx of GE1 and Rx of GE2 using patch chords. This will be the Tx

and Rx pair of our GE tester.

Connect the Tx and Rx of the GE link whose loop is to be tested to our meter. If the loop

exists on link this completes our circuit and it establishes a GE link between the switches.

See The Second diagram no2.

Page 2: Gigabit Ethernet Tester

So the PC1 and PC2 are connected via Switches where a GE link is established. So you can

Ping the PCs each other it shows the loop exist.

If the pinging failed means, link brocken . It may be due to media fail or improper

configuration

This makes simple a GE Tester

Other terms like Packet sent, Packets received can be monitored using either checking the

performance monitoring on corresponding GE1 and GE2 through login on Tejas system or using ethereal

(Network analyzer software). DUmeter software can be used for testing the actual bandwidth testing.

Like wise you can include FE port on each switch and we can test FE also
