Dear Parents/ Guardians,

In January, the Olentangy Gifted Education department conducted a parent survey regarding many aspects of gifted

programming within the district.  The survey went out to over 7,000 parents of children who have one or more areas of

gifted identification, and 957 responses were collected.  Parents of gifted learners were asked a variety of questions to

gauge understanding of identification procedures, district services, and communication.

Olentangy recognizes the value and importance of involving parents in gathering feedback and making plans for

continuous improvement.  The results of the survey reflect a need for increased communication and information about

gifted learners and Olentangy programs that support their needs.  The Gifted Education department will continue to

address those areas of need and program improvement through the following action steps:

‐ Annual notification of areas of gifted identification and direct gifted services

‐ Development of Gifted Services listserv messages

‐ Parent information nights and seminars throughout the school year

‐ Follow us on Twitter for additional updates and information @OLSD_Gifted

‐ Continued professional development for teachers, administrators and counselors

Thank you for your time in completing the survey and providing feedback for future planning and efforts to improve

supports for gifted learners.
