2015 EVENT OVERVIEWIn 2015 we have continued to build on the strong foundation established last year when Fair Events was given the task of revamping and rebuilding the Queensland Gift Fair, now known as Gift HQ.

Our focus on the retailers over the past 12 months has been to reach out to more qualified retailers and encourage lapsed visitors to return.

This year we began an association with the Australian Newsagents Federation, the Licensed Post Office Group representing franchised post offices, and Australia Post. These groups combined represent over 2,500 retailers in Queensland.

Queensland Homes and QIDA returned again this year with an updated Living Room showcasing products from the fair and trends in home decor.

We continued to invest heavily in radio, press, web, direct mail, email and telemarketing to reach out across multiple channels to encourage new retailers and those that hadn’t been for a number of years.

Following feedback from last year we have upgraded our registration system and this ran smoothly with minimum waiting times for visitors.

We are also pleased to report a growth in our exhibitor numbers for the first time in a number of years with over 70 new exhibitors attending the fair this year. The 40 Launchpad stands created interest for visitors with many new and unique products, and provided a great base of new exhibitors for future years.

Enclosed is a complete event report detailing attendance figures, buyer statistics, event overview, and marketing activities.

We thank you for being a part of Gift HQ and look forward to your support and working with you into the future.

Kind regards,

The Fair Events Team

2015 VISITOR ATTRACTIONS

SPOTLIGHT LEARNING EXCHANGE

A series of workshops and seminars were held throughout the event that educated and inspired attendees. Topics included: Loyalty Marketing, Gift Wrapping, Social Media, Successful Gift Shop Buying, and Choosing your Retail Location.

TODAY’S LIVING ROOM

Supported by Queensland Homes and QIDA, Today’s Living Room was an area dedicated to the art of interior design. With decorating experts transforming the area daily, Today’s Living Room offered visitors expert advice on theming stores and inspiring customers.

SPECIAL GUESTS

Michael and Carlene Duffy from Channel 9’s ‘The Block’ were our special guests this year in Today’s Living Room. The local Queenslanders were on hand to chat about styling, design, current and future trends, as well as answer some visitor questions and snap a photo.

ULTIMATE GIFT BOX COMPETITION

Exhibitors donated prizes to our Ultimate Gift Box competition, which was prominently displayed in the foyer of the fair entry. With more than $4,000 worth of prizes; there was furniture, toys, bags, candles, cushions, a tepee, jewellery, and so much more on offer for ONE lucky retailer to take home! The lucky winner Colleen (above), was very happy with her prizes, and congratulations to Liquid Crystal Australia (stand A46) as the winning ticket came from their stand; Fair Events will be giving them $1,000 off their stand in 2016.

Page 5: Gift HQ Event Report 2015

THEMED EATERIES

Fair Events worked closely with the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre’s Executive Chef to deliver two branded new enticing food outlets. Located on the show floor, and not delivering your typical exhibition food, both the NY Pizza and Fresh 2 Go areas provided visitors with fresh and delicious food for all visitors.

LAUNCHPAD STANDS

An exciting new addition to the fair this year was the Launchpad stands. This new initiative made it easy for visitors to find new companies, new products and new solutions all in one place at the fair. This exclusive area for new exhibitors featured some of the newest, innovative and inspiring ranges available in the gift and homewares market.

BRAND NEW REGISTRATION PLATFORM

Fair Events designed its own registration page that made registering for the fair easier than ever!

ONSITE GUIDE

The handy pocket-sized booklet was available to every visitor, providing a valuable resource to navigate the exhibition and keep track of exhibitors. It also contained all details of the fair program, which included the education timetable, Today’s Living Room, Ultimate Gift Box competition, and special guests.

TELEMARKETING

A telemarketing campaign was conducted in the final weeks prior to the fair, issuing a personal invitation to attend the Fair, correct records and facilitate the provision of further information.

FAIR WEBSITE

The Brisbane fair website was a comprehensive resource for the event, detailing exhibitor listings, amenities, Fair features, links to accommodation bookings and, most importantly, a portal to the online pre-event registration.

THE DAILY NEWS

Each day of the Fair, more than 30,000 potential visitors were emailed the Fair Daily News – full of info direct from the event. By making a personal daily connection with visitors, they saw the action ‘live’ from the Fair, and got excited about visiting.

RADIO

This year we advertised the fair on 4BC/BH BMD and Gold 92.5 radio stations for the week leading up to the fair, as well as open days.
