Ghost in the HouseBy C.L. Tompsett

Word Search

The students should complete the word search before reading the book. It contains all the words they will need to know to enjoy reading the book. It will familiarise them with any new words.

What can you recall?

When the students have read the book, this work sheet will show how much they have understood. If they have not understood the story it will be necessary for them to re-read it with you and for you to discuss the events that have taken place.

Find the Adjective

This exercise is to demonstrate the use of the adjective and how to recognise them.

Crossword

The final work sheet is a simple general knowledge crossword using words from the book. Although it is meant to be fun, it should also help the students with their spelling.

This exercise will help the students understand when and where to use exclamation marks. Since the use of exclamation marks can be subjective, sentences as clearly as possible call for them to be used.

Sort it Out

The story is précised and divided into nine sections. This exercise will test the students’ recall and organisational skills.

After tea, she sat down in front of the T.V. The door-bell rang and mum went to the

door. Kim said to herself, “It must be Milly.” The door opened and Jack walked in. Kim

was shocked. She didn’t want Jack to see her looking a mess. She ran up to her room

and put on her new top. She had no time to do her make-up. She came back down

with a tissue in front of her nose.

Jack said, “I came to see how you were.” He had a scarf round his neck. Kim took his

scarf before he could stop her, and there on his chin was a big red spot.

“Snap!” she said, and took the tissue away from her nose.
