GETTING YOUR BUSINESS ON THE MAP

GOOGLE MAPS?If you think it is difficult or expensive to get your shop onto Google maps, we are happy to tell you that you was wrong.

It takes almost no time and it won’t cost you a penny. If you have a not listed business, we really suggest you do it as soon as possible.

1. SEARCH FOR YOURSELFMake a search in Google Maps for your business name and address, just to see if Google already have you listed.

They may have if someone else has suggested your business or they've collected information about you from some other directory.

1.(A) IF LISTEDIf Google have you listed you'll be able to 'claim' your business, you'll need to be logged onto a Google account to request this.

You'll also need to have access to the address listed for your business, because Google likes to make sure that the person claiming the page really is the owner of the business. They'll do this by...Sending you a postcard.

1.(B) IF NOT LISTEDIf Google don't have you listed you'll be able to start the process right away, you'll be asked for some outline information; your business name, address, opening hours, what sort of company you are.

Once your listing is active, even these details will mean that someone who knows you exist but wants to know exactly where you are will be able to find you.

2. VERIFY YOURSELFIn both cases when you get your postcard you'll be able to enter the PIN number on it, you'll need to be logged onto the Google account you were using at the time you made the request to do this.

These days your listing won't go live until you verify the business.

3. CONTROL EVERYTHINGOnce your page is verified, you can control what's on your page and make it more useful both to you as a business owner and to your potential customers.

All in all, when you click the button that says add business to google maps, you're opening out a whole world of potential to make your business grow. As with so many things, the more you put in the more you can expect to get out.
